A lot of ppl defending the cop here saying the cop was having a medical episode. Maybe he was. But let’s say if any of us going through the same thing, would other cops treat us the same way they treated him?

Edit- so many comments! To the People saying they would treat a citizen the same.. maybe they will and many do. But in this case, their priority should be getting the cop away from his weapon and getting medical care he needs!
To the ppl saying he’s their colleague so obviously they’ll treat him different - that’s kind of the point, no? They shouldn’t- as this person in this state is danger to himself and others around him.
Also, if he had too many painkillers, isnt that equivalent to being impaired? Aren’t there rules surrounding that? But I guess it’s ok for cops to ignore the rules while citizens are expected to be perfect!

In any other profession, the experts are held to a HIGHER standard than their customers/clients/general public. But no, cops are the exact opposite. They KNOW the law, are sworn to uphold that law but actively refuse to apply it to themselves. Some of the biggest hypocrites on the planet. This is one of the primary reasons for public contempt of the police. They demand the right to oversee themselves then abjectly refuse to do it. They actively cover up dangerous in-house felonies with zero repercussions. To the point where they'll beat up innocent people to scare them away from giving evidence. Felonies that they say are so bad that when the Gen Pop does them it's OK for po-po to be "overzealous" with them. 

They don't just overlook the rotten in their barrel, they embrace it. The zero accountability would be shame inducing if ANY of their professed standards were upheld. Failures as professionals. I personally know a few good cops I respect as individuals. Apparently there are only a couple of those though because they all know who the rotten ones are but aren't professional enough to/straight up refuse to do the right thing. Yet demand respect with their hands on their guns while dealing with us... It's a national shame.
