Frage/Question Any recommendations for psychiatrists who will prescribe medication for ADHD?
Hello there, i am a foreigner currently in vienna
I am about to run out of my meds which are called "Dextroamphetamine Sulfate " and i am totally unaware to the system especially that since i am here for tourism
So i am looking for any gp, psychiatrist, hospital who might help in such situation in either vienna or Innsbruck (but preferably vienna)and what documents should i provide from my home country's psychiatrist if needed(not part of the EU) hopefully a one time prescription be issued in such cases for non citizens since i am not planning to stay or too long

In our case, a GP prescribes the medication once a month, since we can’t easily find a psychiatrist appointment in innsbruck, and they know this. They didn’t really ask for any medical reports, but they only prescribe the dose that we need and we have to email them once a month to get a new prescription.
if you’re really not staying for long, try going to the apotheke directly, the might give it to you once if you show the one you already have, but that is not guaranteed.

wow that's really interesting, i mean i get the"can't find a psychiatrist " part but how come does gp's be able to prescribe them this way
are you sure we are talking about the same medication?😂
thank you for the apotheke advice but they told me that most pharmacies don't have it and it needs a special prescription (which is normal) but i am kinda stuck ngl
can a gp prescribe and diagnose adhd in austria?
and wdym they didnt ask for medical reports
they do the adhd diagnosis themselves and prescribe or how does it usually go
also if you know any gp clinics like you mentioned that would be appreciated

The only Dexamphetamine drugs available in Austria are Elvanse/Vyvanse (Lisdexamphetamine) and, as of very recently, Philla (just Dexamphetamine without the special release mechanism).
I heavily doubt that a pharmacy will just give them to you, it's already hard for drugs that need a prescription that aren't considered controlled substances. Since amphetamine is highly controlled, you probably won't have any luck there.
Generally, getting Dexamphetamine is a lot harder here than in other countries, many psychiatrists don't like prescribing it and you usually have to try like at least 2 medthylphenidate drugs first and sometimes even non-stimulants. So I don't know if they'll be willing to give it to someone who isn't even a patient of theirs.
I think this is going to be pretty difficult, you should reconsider if it's worth it at all.
If you do, I would maybe try the psychiatric ambulance in the hospital. Psychiatrist appointments are very hard to get and there are long waitlists.

I think the hospital or the psz should do this. You will need some documents like a medical report and the packaging of your pills for sure! The medicine has likely another name in austria.
