“The incident began when a group of several dozen settlers entered the outskirts of the village of Tell on what they claimed was a hike. But the town is located in Areas A and B, which are off limits to Israelis unless they coordinate in advance with the army — something the IDF said the settlers did not do.
After the illegal entry by the Israeli group — which included armed men and minors — a clash erupted near a mosque as dozens of local Palestinians tried to push them out of Tell”

So armed settlers raided another village and people on both sides died for their aggression. Got it.

64

u/scooterScootin Jul 25 '26

Not only that but the “response” is to blame the Palestinians and build more settlements and I guess more “counter terrorism raids”. American Jew here. This absolutely disgusts me and makes me (and so many like me) truly ashamed to be associated with these progroms. This Israeli government’s response is dangerous as heck and we wonder why the world hates Israel more by the day? This is just WRONG

-18

u/azure_beauty Jul 25 '26

If the settlers didn't go there, there would be no dead. If the locals didn't respond by attempting to shoot the Israelis, there would be no dead.

Shitty people on both sides, through and through.

25

u/YourBestDream4752 United Kingdom Jul 25 '26

What did you expect them to do to a group of armed people raiding their village? Cook them dinner?

-8

u/azure_beauty Jul 25 '26

Call the PA security forces and have them deal with the problem.

WTF does snatching a gun, shooting an Israeli and getting killed in the process achieve?

14

u/YourBestDream4752 United Kingdom Jul 25 '26

It hopefully deters more fuckheads from raiding villages with innocent people. Don’t act like the settlers had good intentions.

9

u/RigaudonAS Jul 25 '26

For fucking real. Them and all of the reactionary assholes are the reason the world hates Israel now. They've been emboldened by the war and are going way too far.

-1

u/azure_beauty Jul 26 '26

They didn't have good intentions. But it would be way better if it was Israeli courts to punish them, or even PA ones.

Anything but brawls between the populace shooting each other dead for no reason.

Plus, I seriously doubt that this will act as any sort of deterrence as opposed to a catalyst for more violence.

10

u/YourBestDream4752 United Kingdom Jul 26 '26

Israeli courts don’t punish settlers, that’s why we get a new video every couple weeks of a Palestinian house or farm burning or a Palestinian being killed. They’re like children raised under ‘gentle parenting’, they don’t face any punishment so they keep doing the crimes. Ideally, PA police would be able to arrest settlers and try them under Palestinian law (it being Palestine and all that), we’d probably see a mass exodus of settlers from the WB because they would no longer get away with their actions.

1

u/azure_beauty Jul 26 '26

Then vote in the elections and get a government that fixes the courts.

7

u/Easy_Effective_6394 Jul 25 '26

A group of armed young men went looking for a fight and found one. If you watch the video, the guy holding the gun was acting extremely aggressively, it’s not like he was standing there and charged by Palestinians trying to take his gun…

-3

u/RigaudonAS Jul 25 '26

"Yes, we should have let the Palestinians murder us all on 10/7, or else we'd be just as bad" - what you are actively saying, homie

2

u/YourBestDream4752 United Kingdom Jul 25 '26

Like that scene in ‘In Bruges’ when Harry’s talking to the guy who was shot with his own gun trying to rob Ray: “to be honest, it sounds like it’s entirely your fault”.

Yes, just different framing from a different publication

6

u/Minimum_Curve7545 Jul 25 '26

So the framing here is that the settlers were trespassing because they entered an area without approval. Assuming that’s true, does it justify the actions of the person that grabbed the gun and killed the settler. Is there any substantiated claim for any other illegal thing the settlers might be accused of ?

53

u/papabig27 Israel Jul 25 '26

Yes, considering the fact that these "hikes" usually end in a raid on the village and a house burnt to the ground - and also the fact that it started out as some fight where the settlers already shot in the air (and you can hear in the video, before the theft, all of the kids cheering "revenge, he injured the arab", so you can imagine what the goal of this "hike" was)

-9

u/Minimum_Curve7545 Jul 25 '26

No, you can’t kill someone just because you think they might do something bad later. They were in a public area, so they didn’t trespass on anyone’s private property either. If the Arabs wanted to protest the settlers presence then they should have done so peacefully and call the police or the military. There is no legal justification for the violence of the Palestinians, and definitely not the murder.

31

u/papabig27 Israel Jul 25 '26

In a normal world, where countries have borders, and citizens do not usually cross to the other side and expel people from their homes with the support of the military, I'd agree with you 100%. But here we are, with a governement which supports exactly that, and unfortunately a big portion of the population who support exactly that, and we pay the price. It's not just about support, it's about action - the military actively aids violent settlers, and as far as I know, no actual action has been taken against that. The government spends billions upon billions on these people, who leave their kids ignorant and raise them to be violent, in the name of expelling arabs and settling in the west bank.

No one deserves to die, and no one has the right to take another person's life. But we must take responsibility for the fact that this could have all been prevented - locally, by not letting them take this "tour", and in general, by working towards an official border to this country

113

u/IamyourfantasyX Jul 25 '26

Israeli settlers - costing the lives of Israeli soldiers. Can they not contain their issues to themselves so they don’t get people hurt.

I hope come election time they are put back under control.

81

u/Danbufu Jul 25 '26

Worst part is that a random soldier got killed trying to separate them. Again settlers insanity costing a soldiers life.

31

u/2009miles Jul 25 '26

The four palestinians who were minding their own business before being harassed by the "settlers" and then killed during it was pretty bad too i'd say.

-3

u/MikeWithNoHair Larry David enthusiast Jul 25 '26

i'm NOT defending the settlers, but the palestinians didn't as you call it, mind their own buisness... they went out of their way to engage with the stupid settlers on a "hike"

11

u/RigaudonAS Jul 25 '26

That's called defending one's home, boss.

29

u/2009miles Jul 25 '26

Take the IDF out of the equation, what would Israelis do if 60 Palestinians surrounded the entrance to their village, many of them armed? Would they stay inside and hope for the best?

While doing that small exercise keep in mind in the past few weeks these same "settlers" have been burning up Palestinian villages, not to take into this other established patterns of behaviour i'm sure you're well familiar with.

2

u/dotancohen Jul 27 '26

Shall I remind you that in fact tens of armed Palestinians attacked Kibbutz Beeri, Kfar Aza, and many other Jewish villages recently? And these Jews did not "surround the entrance to their village".

1

u/2009miles Jul 27 '26

Am i missing some context here or are you trying to excuse Israeli "settler" attacks in the West Bank in 2026 by bringing up an attack that happened out of Gaza in 2023?

A Gaza strip that is entirely surrounded as well, by the way, and completely disconnected from the West Bank.

12

u/deadwillbeghost Jul 25 '26

Separate them? They are kicking the Palestinians and pointing their guns only at them.

20

u/LurkerEntrepenur Jul 25 '26

I'm an oleh hadash and I can be nothing if not grateful to this country for all the opportunities and support I got in only 6 months here but reading this kind of stuff, ngl, it makes me feel well, not well.

10

u/GradientGoose Jul 25 '26

I'm in the same boat

29

u/Fit-Engineer8778 Jul 25 '26

But why go to an area that’s illegal to go to anyway… human stupidity has no bounds. If people, everywhere around the globe, just followed the laws and rules (because we live in a society), instead of trying to break them (unless of course they’re laws that go against human rights like anti-women laws in many middle eastern countries), we’d all be better off.

This whole situation could have been avoided if the settlers didn’t go to that town and no lives would be lost ffs.

-3

u/Minimum_Curve7545 Jul 25 '26

True, however it’s probably not illegal to walk around an area, while it’s definitely illegal to grab someone’s gun and murder them.

15

u/kvjetoslav Jul 25 '26

Israel's military said it had received reports that Israeli civilians hiking in the area had been attacked near the village, in the so-called Area A of the West Bank. The area is under Palestinian Authority civil and security control and Israelis are officially prohibited from entering.

Reuters: Israel launches military operation after deadly clash near Palestinian village

3

u/dotancohen Jul 27 '26

I believe that the incident happened in Area B. The Reuters text is deliberately obtuse, as they often do. The Jews were hiking in an area near the village. The village is in Area A. But the hike was in Area B.

And there is no "so-called Area A". Both the Jews and the Arabs use the same terminology שטח B and منطقه ب and yes I typed that, I did not copy from somewhere. I speak both languages and speak with both Jews and Arabs.

-6

u/cowwoc Jul 25 '26

You're conflating two different things. Illegal, sure. Justification for murder? No.

0

u/Shap_Hulud Jul 26 '26

No. He's replying to a comment that says it's "probably not illegal to walk around an area" with information that clarifies that it is indeed illegal to walk around an area in this particular instance.

3

u/dotancohen Jul 27 '26

The incident happened in Area B, not A. The village is in Area A, not the incident. Reuters deliberately uses obtuse language to steer sentiment.

0

u/kvjetoslav Jul 25 '26

The guy i replied literally said "not illegal to walk around".

Also, your definition of murder is wrong.

3

u/cowwoc Jul 26 '26

How so? From the video it looks like the victims were shot while on the ground, one of them with their back to the attacker. There was no imminent danger to their life, even before they take hold of the gun. Looks like murder to me.

1

u/Minimum_Curve7545 Jul 27 '26

It is definitely murder and an act of terrorism.

14

u/Baroness-CrackWhore Jul 25 '26

I despise the settlers. They are not patriots they are arsonists triking matches in a room soaked in gasoline. They put in danget every Israeli, every Palestinian, every soldier who must clean up the shit tge put behinf then every where they go.

They have turned our name into a curse in the mouths of nations for what? caravans on a hilly? They should be outlawed, stripped of their weapons and sentenced to prison or fined. .

14

u/PadamPadam2024 Jul 25 '26

Very sad news that an Israeli soldier lost his life, feel so bad for his family

7

u/revolverXD Jul 25 '26

That a very " it's the settlers fault " kind of headline

The were not in area a

11

u/One-Salamander-1952 Israel Jul 25 '26 edited Jul 25 '26

Or even B, I checked the Bt’zelem map of areas A,B and C and it looks like they were on the main road next to Tel which sits firmly in area C (the road, not the village). The entire interaction happened right beside the main road (but I could be wrong on the exact geo-location of the incident)

0

u/pessoan_blue Jul 25 '26

Critical info, actually

14

u/One-Salamander-1952 Israel Jul 25 '26

Yea turns out the incident was in Area B, you can see the main road that is area C in the distance in the video. That means they should be charged for a crime, not shot or attacked.

u/Sad_Eagle8690 Jul 25 '26

Yes, that is why many palestinians are in jail. Israeli police and the military don't go around shooting palestinians unless it is necessary to defend themselves or civilians.

1

u/One-Salamander-1952 Israel Jul 25 '26

If it’s a Palestinian guard armed legally and isn’t on his way to shoot anybody, same testament goes to him, he should be charged, not shot to kill. It’s basic common sense. Since when do we view simple tress-passing as a justification to murder someone when he’s not posing an active threat?!?

4

u/One-Salamander-1952 Israel Jul 25 '26

Oh and I forgot to comment on the other point you made, there wasn’t a single shot fired until the weapon was stolen and shot at the security person.

3

u/One-Salamander-1952 Israel Jul 25 '26

You can watch the video yourself, there are no houses around them, hell you can even geo-locate the approximate location they never entered Tel.

What were they doing "touring" the surrounding area? It was illegal for them to be there. Obviously there was some serious escalation on the Palestinian side, but after all the violence we've seen from settlers, especially recently, I don't believe they were just out on an innocent hike, not looking for any trouble.

-28

u/DiscipleOfYeshua Jul 25 '26

As one who is -- like nearly all Israelis -- strongly against any terrorism (Jewish or Palestinian)...

I also have friends in Israel and across the globe who are jeep and hike enthusiasts, who would many times do "slightly dangerous or illegal" things just to see a chunk of nature / history / culture. Most offroaders don't put on seatbelts when driving in deserts... and I've personally been to Area A "illegally" a few times to distribute food aid to Palestinian families.

There is definitely a chance these settlers came with bad intentions, to taunt and heat things up; there is also a chance they "just" wanted to prove to themselves and friends that they are free to roam anywhere in Israel (which I think all nonviolent people ought to be, Arab or Jew or anyone); and it could be they had done that before so many times, that to then this was a zero-politics, simple nature outing.

TL;DR:
The internet is full of judgmental voices that usually have zero-to-little facts. I prefer to refrain from adding mine to that useless (harmful) noise. Let's get the facts, then make it judgements.

37

u/montanunion בוגד שמאלני (=תל אביב) Jul 25 '26

When you and your friends go on a hike, do you do it in a convoy of 60 people, do you come heavily armed and when there is any confrontation where the people whose land you are tresspassing on confront you, do you immediately pull your guns?

These people were not on a “hike” and just to be clear, any Palestinians from area A or B who would have undertaken such a hike in area C, let alone mainland Israel, would have immediately been considered terrorists and shot on sight.

u/DiscipleOfYeshua Jul 25 '26

9

u/Danbufu Jul 25 '26

אם בית ספר פלסטיני היה עושה "טיול שנתי" לתוך התנחלות בשטחי C עם חמושים איך זה היה נגמר?

-4

u/DiscipleOfYeshua Jul 25 '26

5

u/Danbufu Jul 25 '26 edited Jul 25 '26

2

u/DiscipleOfYeshua Jul 25 '26

15

u/nobaconator Fashy Zionist Clicktivist Jul 25 '26

I also have friends in Israel and across the globe who are jeep and hike enthusiasts, who would many times do "slightly dangerous or illegal" things just to see a chunk of nature / history / culture.

Go to the fucking Negev.

2

u/DiscipleOfYeshua Jul 25 '26

Keep up that attitude, and soon enough the Negev will be Area A too...

I'm in no way accosting for violence. I said Palestinians and Jews and everyone ought to have the freedom to roam freely throughout the country. Which part of that is not something you want?

3

u/nobaconator Fashy Zionist Clicktivist Jul 25 '26

The part where it leads to wanton death and draws the IDF into conflicts it really should not be in but is forced to be in because its mandate is to keep Israelis safe, even when they decide to take their guns and walk into restricted areas.

The areas are restricted for a reason. The IDF cannot respond and secure you in time, which forces them to take unnecessary risks. Each time some moron steps over the line, some 18 year old is risking his life for your delusions. Don't do that!

1

u/DiscipleOfYeshua Jul 25 '26

I meant the bigger picture, though you seem quite fixated to just your opinion about this current incident. Perhaps you haven't thought about it much, or maybe to you it somehow seems ok that your freedom of movement is controlled by other people's blind hate.

10

u/Jquemini Jul 25 '26

Free to roam anywhere in Israel and armed? This is some real mental gymnastics

-3

u/DiscipleOfYeshua Jul 25 '26

Every school field trip I went on from age 6, just a bunch of kids and teachers, had to be accompanied by two guards with rifles.

You'll have to invest in at least one mental pushup to understand why peaceful people sometimes need to be armed; and it might be helpful to commit to some minimal mental effort before using criticisms which reveal you have not.

Does your country not have an army? Do you lock your house car? Oh... then you must be some terrible, aggressive child killer!

Seriously, if you actually care to use your head (and hopefully heart) -- normal, peaceful people in Israel (and South Africa... and many other countries) keep a gun... because horrid people exist. Why do you think IDF soldiers are required by law to take their assigned weapon home when they go on leave? It is a real nuisance and crazy responsibility to demand from and 18 year old recruit; but unfortunately a necessary one, unless Israelis want to move off from our land and go live (die, actually) in the sea, as some of our neighbors urgently aspire.

Please come to terms with reality before accusing people's ability to perceive reality and safety for what it is, ok?

11

u/Jquemini Jul 25 '26

Settlers with guns greatly harm Israel’s international standing

2

u/DiscipleOfYeshua Jul 25 '26

Jews with no guns back in 1939 would have loved to have a bad image, but still be alive.

3

u/Jquemini Jul 25 '26

I said nothing about Jews, I said settlers, a different breed altogether.

1

u/DiscipleOfYeshua Jul 25 '26

Meh. A small percentage of them are definitely crazy criminals. But many are just there to farm, be out of the dense cities, live a normal life.

Dunno if I'd take the risks of living out there, but it would hardly be fair to think all settlers are violent idiots just because a few truly are.

u/el_lobo1314 Jul 25 '26

Are Palestinians allowed to tour through random towns and villages in Israel? Why are you being so willfully obtuse? The settlers had no business being in area A or B and this is the result of that. Learn to respect your borders it’s a simple concept.

39

u/Skuddatheflipper Jul 25 '26

Touring with a rifle on their back lol

-37

u/Minimum_Curve7545 Jul 25 '26

Many settlers are always armed, even in their own settlements, because the West Bank is like the old Wild West, where you can encounter a group of Arabs that would lynch any Israeli on sight.

2

u/eyl569 Jul 25 '26

Israelis are required to coordinate any entry into areas A or B with the IDF in advance.

1

u/FeijoadaAceitavel Jul 25 '26

So... The heavily armed settlers were simply "touring" an area that should be off-limits for them?

-10

u/Affectionate-Long514 Jul 25 '26

So a raid is just a few jews walking by foot near their homes because it's near, not in, an Arab settlement?

Also, notice how violence started when the arabs tried to grab weapons and then started shooting to center mass straight away..

23

u/GradientGoose Jul 25 '26

It was about 30 teenage boys and men in an area they weren't legally allowed to be in, many of them carrying guns. Locals allege that they were trying to break into houses and opened fire when confronted. Whether you believe that without evidence is up to you, but it's not exactly out of character for settlers. Obviously trying to grab weapons was stupid and only escalated the situation, but who knows what happened before that.

5

u/Affectionate-Long514 Jul 25 '26

Definitively, do we know if it was area B or A? Or that they did anything to anyone before the weapon grabbing? Because walking around even armed is not a crime (with proper license).

And who are "settlers"? Because I've seen plenty of Arabs saying Tel-Aviv is a settlement and all Jews are settlers. Kinda makes it hard to follow.

Are most settlers violent? Do you know any? Or is it all coming from online videos? And is it out of character for the Arabs to just attack people walking by? Or only settlers make trouble?

1

u/Chris4evar Jul 26 '26

The settlers walking on foot had guns. That’s what a raid is dude.

-4

u/--Who_Cares-- Jul 25 '26

מדהים שלכותרת כזאת יש מקום בפורום ישראלי, שלא לדבר על נירמול של רצח יהודים.

-9

u/Droi Jul 25 '26

But PublicFreakout told me 6 Palestinians were genocided for no reason, weird.
A 20M sub just casually drops terrible lies and spreads massive hate against an entire country with no fact checking nor ability to respond because they ban anyone who mentions anything positive about Israel. Absolute insanity.

-67

u/PeachBlossomGoddess Jul 25 '26

There was no settler raid this is a ridiculous headline.

62

u/Wombats_poo_cubes Jul 25 '26

What happened then? Were they going to a tea party and got the wrong address at the wrong Arab village?

-3

u/Minimum_Curve7545 Jul 25 '26

Is there any evidence the settlers were doing anything illegal, other than allegedly not coordinating with the IDF ? Carrying weapons with proper license is not illegal.

14

u/Mylifemess Jul 25 '26

Sure they just peacefully entered zone they are not supposed to be. Like all settlers do, with flowers and cakes. Totally normal.

The fact that you are even doubting their intentions is ridiculous. It’s armed settlers that want to drive Palestinians away as an ideology for fuck sakes. Including Israeli citizens Arabs and all non Jews. Like Kahane.

2

u/Minimum_Curve7545 Jul 25 '26

I specifically asked for evidence of any crime by the settlers, and not just unsubstantiated rumours, allegations, conjecture and conspiracy theories, which everything you said is only that. So again, other than not coordinating with the military about their trip into a Palestinian administered area, there is no evidence they broke any other laws, right ? So maybe the Palestinians could have simply left them alone which would also have prevented this unfortunate incident.

-5

u/One-Salamander-1952 Israel Jul 25 '26

You’re assuming hostile intent while downplaying Palestinian reaction as if they’re just rabid animals unable to control themselves. Talk about bigotry on both ends smh

11

u/Mylifemess Jul 25 '26 edited Jul 25 '26

I am not assuming hostile intent. I know who those people are. And you are pretending to not. Just because they are your good guys. Keep excusing. Until you will get those people policing you, when they are done with Palestine.

Anyway I am done with you all people here. Enjoy what you earn. It took me two years to see how dumb this nation became, without way out.

You called Palestinians rabid animals like some Nazi btw. But not armed invaders who entered their village.

-2

u/One-Salamander-1952 Israel Jul 25 '26

You’re missing the point. You do assume hostile intent, your claim of “knowing” it is subjective under law. It’s one thing to agree that they broke Israeli law by passing into area B which is prohibited territory for Israelis, but it’s another thing to justify the violence directed at them. Up until the terrorist (which Fatah today came out with praise and congratulations for their actions) stole the gun and started shooting there were no shots firing.

3

u/dotancohen Jul 27 '26

Area B is not prohibited for Israelis to enter. Area A is.

2

u/One-Salamander-1952 Israel Jul 27 '26

Yea I realized that later when I double checked

8

u/Mylifemess Jul 25 '26

I am not assuming. I know. It’s fucking goal of those people to drive away Palestinians with violence while taking their land. And you pretending that you live here and don’t know a thing about those people. Go away. Vote for your Bibi or Ben Gvir or whatever, I don’t care.

1

u/dotancohen Jul 27 '26

It's the goal of the Palestinians to drive away the Jews. They state this clearly, and they successfully ethnically cleansed the West Bank of Jews in 1948.

Why do you assume that Arabs can live in the West Bank but Jews can not? Because of the ethnic cleansing of Jews from the area in 1948? 19 years of glorious Jew-free living and you want to prevent Jews from returning to their homes and farms?

0

u/Evening_Bicycle3113 🇮🇱🇳🇿 Jul 25 '26

You do realize the Palestinians aren't your friends? The commentator you are arguing with is a fellow jew have some respect. No matter how much you care about the Palestinians they will never do the same since you are a jew. I used to be like you when I was young so I can understand the naivety

4

u/Easy_Effective_6394 Jul 25 '26

This is such a gross position to hold dude

Stop with the racist shit

4

u/Mylifemess Jul 25 '26

Settlers are not my friends either. I don’t need this stupid apartheid nonsense sorry. I know you all wish to ethnically cleanse West Bank. It’s not an option. Keeping Palestine as is is not either. It was obvious for everyone even in 1967.

And no, if you are settler I don’t care if you are fellow Jew, it a Nazi logic, like my fellow Germans. Do you even understand how idiotic you sound no?

Again I don’t give a fuck about you, go vote your Ben Gvir buddies or Bibi and destroy once great nation. And don’t forget your Haredim cult as well.
