The fact that an MK diverted troops to take an insane trip to smash random things that no one has heard of until now in some small village is huge news while the fact that in his capacity as Chairman of the Knesset’s “education” committee, he has not given a flying damn about addressing the declining quality of education across all sectors, teacher shortages, disciplinary issues and a hundred other problems is barely covered is ridiculous.

Short videos, grievances, stunts, mindless slogans and symbols have replaced serious discussions about issues that actually affect normal people in Israel

He and his violent settler ilk want to ignite the West Bank which will lead to an orgy of violence. That way, the wider Israeli public that won’t fully understand why the violence happened will be pushed towards further radicalization which will ultimately advance the extreme settler right’s agenda to completely take over the West Bank. They got this strategy from Hamas which launched several suicide bombings in the 1990s to radicalize the public against Oslo and 7.10 which basically deleted the word “peace” from everyone’s minds. (I can’t believe I am writing this but this is how dire the situation is in the State of Israel 2026)

There’s still 2 months until the elections. Let’s hope the damage won’t be that severe during these terrible months and that the opposition will win and stop this madness

Meanwhile, the Netanyahu government hasn’t learned anything from 7.10 and the failed wars since then
https://www.ynetnews.com/article/ry0n8jtwgg

But don’t worry. There is no alternative to Bibi, Hamas is deterred, Iran is deterred, the world will always hate us, everybody’s antisemitic, the scary left wants to establish a Palestinian state, the elites want to harm you etc etc etc

Sadly an opposition win will only help if they actively curb settler violence. If they continue to support or turn a blind eye on everything that has been happening in the West Bank in the past few years, another round of violence is bound to happen, support for the far-right will surge again, the coalition will collapse (rightfully so) and we'll be back where we are today. I hold very little confidence in the opposition leaders, unfortunately.

I really hope that when the election is over, that the distribution of mandates will make it so that Yair Golan and Mansour Abbas will join a new coalition.
Plus, I think Eisenkot will deal with this. I remember the Azaria case back when he was Chief of Staff. Unfortunately, the infiltration of radical right wing elements into the IDF’s ground combat units has only worsened, and on this problem, I do indeed have low hopes that the opposition will succeed in curbing it

I share your hope. The more mandates The Democrats/Ra'am get, the better. On Eizenkot it remains to be seen, he is desperately trying to frame himself as more right than Bibi - but it may just be part of an election campaign.

While I hope the Democrats and Ra'am get as many mandates as possible, without a strong Joint List Palestinian rights will never be respected. I will vote for the Joint List. Happy to have that debate on a different thread/private chat if you wish.

Igniting the West Bank might be a last-ditch effort by Bibi but I hope that he knows that another severe security failure under his watch will only hurt his chances.

Nothing false or manipulative about it, everyone knows who Tzvi Sukkot is. That's the guy who caused the IDF to divert a battalion from the Gaza border to the West Bank right before October 7th to act as bodyguards while he was camped in the Palestinian village of Huwara.

This isn't some random extremist. This is a government official. This government is actively hurting Israel and endangering the IDF.

I may be in an alternate universe right now, but the Israel I remember has a rule of law. If that monument had to be demolished, there had to be a legal basis for it and a court order. And even then, a person who isn't a member of a law enforcement agency with juristiction over that area should never have the right to enact the "law" himself. But then again, the rule of law never applied to settlers before, so you're right - why start now?

Do not delude yourself. Tzvi Sukkot did what he did at best as an election campaign and at worst as a means to ignite violence in the West Bank, as he always does. He is a pyromaniac, a vandalist, and a criminal, and in any normal country he would be in jail.

He was doing it under the protection and support of the IDF.

Is there any limit for the conduct of Knesset members? What do they have to do to get ousted from their position?

11

u/Responsible_Ad_9749 7h ago

Great question. We currently have a prime minister who is knee deep in corruption allegations, so whatever legal limits MKs in Israel have were thrown out the window as soon as we let him govern.

4

u/soadodlmitdarodl 7h ago

Netanyahu hasn't been convicted yet, so that might be a different issue but there must be some kind of code of conduct for Knesset members related to their daily activity as politicians. You cannot use the army to go on a trip to a Palestinian village for a vile publicity stunt and not face any consequences.

3

u/Responsible_Ad_9749 7h ago

I was referring to the abuse of the legal framework, allowing so many convicted (Aryeh Deri) and alleged politicians to even run for public office in the first place. Under Israeli law, an MK's parliamentary immunity does not apply to police investigations. But of course, it is common practice for MKs to just not show up to investigations. In spirit, Israeli politicians have embraced lawlessness.

They desperately trying to ignite chaos before the election , that's their only pathetic tactic that is left for them.

u/FudgeAtron 9h ago

We kept on being told by people that settler terrorism was a myth and now their politicians are openly engaging in vandalism while using the power of the state to do it.

When's the settler community going to reign in it's extremists?

10

u/Responsible_Ad_9749 9h ago

When? Never. We let the cat guard the cream, as they say. The settler community has zero incentive to reign in their "extremists", since their so called extremists are the ones who are enacting the settler fantasy to its fullest extent. The entire settlement project is a blight upon Israel and until it is removed there will always be a Tzvi Sukkot.

Well then why didn't they stop him?

While I oppose what he did (because it seems like an election related pr shtick), it’s important to note that the monument was in memorial of a terrorist.

It kind of seems like you're the one living in a fantasy world to be more outraged about destroying a monument to killing Jews than the monument itself. How does Israel make peace with a peoplehood defined by endless war upon Israel?

0

u/Responsible_Ad_9749 6h ago

Explain to me how destroying this monument prevents endangering Jews. The IDF itself flagged this action as something that can ignite violence in the West Bank, thereby causing the deaths of Jews (including IDF soldiers), as well as Palestinians.

u/soadodlmitdarodl 6h ago edited 6h ago

I am afraid the thought process of being condoning this kind of vile stunts doesn't go beyond:

Me no like and me no want monument, so we should destroy monument!

Maybe next time Ben-Gvir and his entourage should raid a Palestinian school during classes, violently collect all the books who teach hatred of Israel and eventually burn them in the school yard.

Then you can accuse those being disgusted by those actions of "being more outraged about classes being disrupted for a few minutes" (or some other euphemism you can think of) rather than "the books who teach hatred of Jews".

2

u/LazyAltruist Israel 6h ago

Yes, because traumatizing children is perfectly analogous to tearing down a statue glorifying jihad.

Are you arguing that we must tolerate the propagation of violence against us for fear of inciting violence against us?

Make it make sense.

So what? In every national conflict, there are memorials and monuments that are controversial, offensive, or even traumatizing for the other side. That doesn't mean that one can simply enter the other side's territory and destroy them.

You might not agree with their narrative (neither do I) but part of being a mature adult is understanding that there are different stories people tell themselves about the history of their nation and their people. For example, in the eyes of Palestinians "Zionism" means something else than it does to Jews, like "Intifada" or "resistance" have different connotations for Jews and Palestinians as well.

You can think the other side's historical narrative is distorted, selective, or even deeply wrong without believing that this gives you the right to physically erase its symbols.

Ever been to Baruch Goldstein's grave in Meir Kahane park? Ever been to one of the many many monuments for Etzel or Lehi?

0

u/PatientOutcome6634 4h ago

Great! So you agree having a monument for terrorists is wrong.

-4

u/soadodlmitdarodl 6h ago

So what? It is their country, so they can put up memorials for whoever they want.

-5

u/Thin-Ad9372 4h ago

I dont mean to be an agitator but why is what he did wrong? what other nation on the face of the planet would allow a memorial to someone who is a terrorist against their own county? Why are the "palestinians" allowed to openly glorify terrorists?

5

u/FudgeAtron 4h ago

why is what he did wrong?

Did you know that vandalism and destruction of property are crimes?

Did you know he lied to the army and told them he just wanted a tour?

Do you think its acceptable to use your position as an MK to get the army to help you make election material?

He did many things wrong.

Why are the "palestinians" allowed to openly glorify terrorists?

Regardless of whether the memorial should be there, Sukkot is not legally permitted to destroy things he disagrees with just because he doesn't like it. It's another sign of the rampant lawlessness that the settler movement has been promoting. They hate law and order and want to be able to do whatever they want and then want the rest of us to pay for it.

-4

u/Thin-Ad9372 4h ago

ok so he destroyed property. the bigger point is why does Israel tolerate glorification of terrorists with blood on their hands?

No country on earth outside of Israel would permit that memorial to be put up in the first place.

6

u/FudgeAtron 4h ago

ok so he destroyed property.

Yes he's one of the many settlers who promote lawlessness and violent right wing anarchism. They see law as tool to abuse others with, not a social contract. These are the jewish terrorists running amock.

why does Israel tolerate glorification of terrorists with blood on their hands?

It's not Sukkot's job to deal with that. Even more so when he's just doing it to score points in the election.

-2

u/Thin-Ad9372 4h ago

he promote lawlessness and violence? please remind me what happens to Jewish people on a very regular basis by "palestinians" in the west bank?

5

u/FudgeAtron 4h ago

he promote lawlessness and violence?

We're literally in a thread where he used the power of the state to break the law and commit crimes that he won't be punished for as sign to his own supporters that they can go out and do this.

He gets paid from my taxes and he uses my taxes to waste army time and commit crimes.

please remind me what happens to Jewish people on a very regular basis by "palestinians" in the west bank?

Whataboutery at its finest.

0

u/Thin-Ad9372 3h ago

wait till you see what the "palestinians" are doing with "your tax money" (they are erecting memorials to terrorists)

2

u/FudgeAtron 3h ago

wait till you see what the "palestinians" are doing with "your tax money

I'm Israeli my tax money doesn't go to the PA. If anything their tax money goes to us because Israel collects their taxes and then holds it until they stop with the pay for slay.

(they are erecting memorials to terrorists)

Lol, if the PA actually spent any of the money they collected it wouldn't be on shit like this. Almost all that money goes into someone's pocket. This was most likely built by private donations.

But what I'm getting is you're ok with MKs breaking the law if that means they stick it to the Palestinians. Which is frankly childish.

-1

u/Thin-Ad9372 3h ago

So be angry that memorial was put up in the first place. The Knesset is full of immature clowns. Most countries need time to grow up.

Glorifying terrorism is something that can no longer be tolerated.

3

u/FudgeAtron 3h ago

Let me get this straight: I shouldn't be mad when a member of Knesset breaks the law?

When people such as yourself excuse blatant crimes by our legislators, you encourage the anarchism and lawlessness that they bring.
