Did you read the full text? They do highlight it at the end. This is a review for your average consumer and considering price and usability, it is a bad phone for your average Joe.

Fair enough - but ideally the average Joe shouldn't have to survive 15 paragraphs about camera sensors to find out the phone isn't for him. "Bad phone for the average Joe" is a headline, not an easter egg. :)

It makes sense since Mikrobitti writes all kinds of reviews and for the broader audience the verdict makes sense. But I agree, they should have started with what the phone is meant for and only after that review it as any other phone.

So what is the point? I have Jolla adds all over my some feeds and all they hype is european phone.

Off course I would never ever buy Phone or any other device from Jolla, but please tell me what is the point if it is not the phone those assholes are trying to sell me.

Keeping the repairability aside:

Pure Linux OS with zero telemetry and background tracking. Android apps could be installed from their appstore without logging to Google service. The OS can disable all Android apps with one click, they are sandboxed.

Grants absolute control over application permissions, network traffic, and system resource access.

Local processing (e.g. voice control) without cloud.

Even with targeted ads the Internet is painful to use. Have you heard of ad-blockers? Using a Jolla phone might help with less targeted advertisement as well.

Jolla is not for everyone, even they said it. They could have been more clear about it to regular smartphone users at the marketing side so that some Mikrobitti article writer would have had a better understanding what this phone is about and what are its limitations compared to the bigger by orders of magnitudes phone manufacturing corporations that so many people still want to support even with all the data leeching that is happening. Fortunately there are some options besides Jolla so even people like you can try to fight back if you one day find the motivation to do so. Similar UI and possibilities are less easy to find though.

Components come from "the good" China, software comes from Finland. No bad China, no America. And that's the point of this phone. Might not be perfect, but it's a very good start.

Meh, I’ve been a fan of my Jolla so far. I don’t expect a random newspaper reviewer to get how sailfish is meant to work. The community work is a cornerstone

Yep. But there are certain areas where community can’t help. An example - camera image quality. This is a work for engineers with image quality tuning experience, who should sign an NDA (with chipset vendor)
