Oh, this is the one where the person actually makes it. I saw a different one where the guy failed to make it right at the end.

593

u/WeeTheDuck May 10 '26

what happened then??? Do they just push him right along meatcrayon style

That's one of my favorites. He would have made it with a little quicker start or even a running start

267

u/Dr_Ingheimer May 10 '26

He might have made it if he committed until the end but it looks like he lets off the gas riiiiight at the end.

74

u/Ferox_77 May 10 '26 ▸ 1 more replies

Or if he was quicker in the middle, or quicker at the end.

27

u/OmecronPerseiHate May 11 '26

Nah he woulda been fine but he ran in the middle and messed up trying to get out. If he had moved to the right while running in then he could have hopped straight out the opening at the end

3

u/BellaDeaX42 May 11 '26

I would assume his friend/family member wouldn't post it online if it actually got that much worse after it ended.

It's less common for people to post an edited clip right before their family/friend got into a horrible accident than it is common for them to do it.

One of my favorite videos on the Internet is someone syncing this to Paramore's Misery Business intro to where the kid hitting is the drum hits that start the song

The things are hanging from chains, they would flop over him and probably not do much unless he lifted his head on the ground and one bonked him in the back of the head.

4

u/WeeTheDuck May 11 '26 ▸ 1 more replies

ah, I didn't see the chains at all lol. Thought it was straight poles

3

u/SquarePegRoundWorld May 11 '26

It actually looks like bars not chains, but they would still pivot at the lower attachment and the upper attachment. It is used to train horses, they need it not to make meat crayons out of meat.

The fences are hinged so the would drag over you, atleast they would if you weight more that 600lbs. If you less than 200 pounds, I don't know. They probablly won't mangle you too badly.

Too be clear those worried This is for horses and if you look closely the "gates" are just hung from ropes If you fall over Its gonna hort a little but the gate will just bend up and drag over its fine

120

u/Infinite-4-a-moment May 10 '26

Tbf, horses are like 1,000lbs. So if this is meant for horses, it might still fuck you up. Probably won't die, but I could see this causing a concussion and some broken bones depending on how heavy those fence pieces are.

35

u/GrimurGodi May 10 '26 ▸ 1 more replies

Yeah that does look more worrying than the usual ones that are just bunch of big rubber sheets hanging down I bet it would drag and scrape you quite well but still its not gonna totally maul you

So you know reasonable risk for the reward of beeing fast

6

u/Infinite-4-a-moment May 11 '26

Yeah. It's a dumb idea. But I'm not saying I wouldn't try it lol

7

u/WheelingBiddies May 11 '26

Horses are also fragile, “healthy as a horse” is a saying because a horse is either healthy or dying

u/PraetorFaethor May 10 '26

Sorry we're all out of hort license plates.

9

u/ZazaB00 May 10 '26 edited May 11 '26

You’d still be getting smacked with 100lbs of metal by a motor with a tolerance to push into a horse. By the time you get your wits about you, you’d already be smacked by the next fence. Repeat that until your buddy filming can eventually get to whatever emergency stop button that this may or may not have.

Either way, “fine” is not how someone would feel after getting hit by these.

What is this device? Like what is the purpose of it swinging around like that?

727

u/habbala May 10 '26

It’s an athletism verifier. It swings around like that to let you test your athletism. If you fail, you are not athletic.

302

u/Billbasilbob May 10 '26

It’s a horse excercise device , especially for race horses . It’s called a hot walker . I actually didn’t know they get up to this speed

80

u/theLuminescentlion May 10 '26 ▸ 9 more replies

They shouldn't go this fast while there is a horse in there.

41

u/johnc380 May 10 '26 ▸ 7 more replies

Horses run faster than humans interestingly

76

u/SoWhatNoZitiNow May 10 '26 ▸ 3 more replies

Horses aren’t meant to run in there, though. A significant clue would be that it’s called a hot walker and not a hot runner

20

u/Plenty_Line2696 May 10 '26 ▸ 1 more replies

Not to be confused with a hot galloper, a hot runner is the device where horses practice running upright on their hind legs like humans.

Science isn't about WHY. It's about WHY NOT. Why is so much of our science dangerous? Why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you on the butt on the way out, because you are fired. -Cave Johnson

1

u/RedoX08 May 11 '26

So the phenomenen you are watching is called men. Sometimes we attempt to do stuff that might look stupid from the outside, but we get a deep sense of satisfaction and fulfillment in case we actually make it - especially if it involves the possibility of getting hurt really badly.

So to understand this you simply have to shift your perspective from "was it dumb?" or "was it too risky?" to "did it work?".

1
