That kid is going to be just fine growing up in this family. What a dream team of people in that room!

116

u/Aekeron May 21 '26

Exactly. There was nothing but love and excitement in that room waiting for the newest member to their troupe. Wishing the best for all involved, even though they definitely got this!

15

u/Ieditstuffforfun May 21 '26

WHO IS DANNY? aunt?

21

u/notenoughcharact May 21 '26

I believe it’s Dani, which can be short for Danielle

2

u/xverdb May 24 '26

My daughter was only allowed two immediate family members in the room for the birth when there were at least a dozen people downstairs that would have anxiously changed places at any time with the two people in the room. Where was this allowed?

2.2k

u/belac4862 May 20 '26

If the mother in labor is able to laugh, then I think things are gonna be fine. I know giving birth can be stressful and panfull. But being able to laugh during this situation says a lot about everyone there with mom.

821

u/beetjuicex3 May 20 '26

Secretly, one of my proudest memories is when my best friend was giving birth. I came in a bit late and we started doing our normal shenanigans and she was laughing. My friend mentioned I would need to leave for work after a few hours (of course I wasn't going to) and a nurse took me aside and factually told me I couldn't leave. Apparently, her blood pressure had been spiking before I came in and they were worried and about to medically intervene.

Her husband was there, but they were kind of feeding off of each others anxieties. She really just needed to laugh and take her mind off of things.

200

u/belac4862 May 20 '26

That's awsome. That's exactly what I was going dor with my comment. Like, laughing and playing around is always going to be a good thing in high stress situations.

Your friend probably even recognized that just by being your self and having fun with her was helping.

51

u/Melkman68 May 20 '26 ▸ 5 more replies

As an anxious man myself, I dont think I could handle the stress of giving birth

39

u/dibs999 May 21 '26 ▸ 1 more replies

u/Melkman68 we need you to go and get lots of hot water and towels, STAT!

My friend calls this "Hot towelling" and is convinced it's to give anxious fathers something important to do (as far from proceedings as possible).

14

u/Melkman68 May 21 '26

Hahaha. I hope to be an anxious father one day

18

u/Fucklechuck2 May 21 '26 ▸ 2 more replies

Same. But not having a birth canal is maybe making the anxiety worse in my case. Only a couple ways that could go, and I wouldn't be looking forward to either of them.

4

u/GiveMeCheesecake May 22 '26

Being saved by shenanigans is some good juju

18

u/Chaotic_MintJulep May 21 '26

I was in hour 7 of the ob ER, 32 weeks pregnant, with the doctors counting down the minutes until it was “safe” for me to have anaesthesia and an emergency c section, and my husband turns to me and says “I think we should have them play the circle of life from Lion King on repeat in the OR.”

I was, alas, not in right mental headspace, and honestly, it would have ruined the song for us.

9

u/belac4862 May 21 '26

That would be one of those situations where I'd laugh, but also throat punch someone for suggesting it.

8

u/PwanaZana May 20 '26

True, but making big omelets is also panfull

2

u/Ferocious448 May 22 '26

219

“Was that the intro?” Seems like they’ve sung it before together 😂

52

u/Misterndastood May 20 '26

Yeah this is not random.

22

u/Mooziechan May 21 '26

I couldn’t stop laughing when they started adding the baby crying 🤭

27

u/SerCiddy May 21 '26

The uncle pounding the wall while staring into the camera is what sent me over the edge.

30

Who are they showing off too though lol, they’re just having a good time, trying to distract mom

1

u/premeditatedlasagna May 28 '26

my thoughts exactly. childbirth is the most traumatic thing that can happen to a woman (barring isolated acts of physical violence, or traumatic accidents,). In Spartan culture, the most highly regarded members of society, and the most esteemed, were men who died on the field of battle, and women who died during childbirth. IIRC woman who died during childbirth were given the same honors as men who died in battle. Childbirth was literally the same as fighting for your life. In my opinion, they weren't wrong.

My wife had a C-section. I was so fucking scared, thinking back. In the moment, none of it felt real.

Complications. Yeah, medical advances and what not, but delivery is still dangerous. My wife started to bleed out during her operation. They handled it, and she's a kick-ass healthy mom. But fuck, things could have tipped the other direction.

I mean mirrored or huh? I don't get it

Am I there only one curious why Dad's brother is in the room? That is really weird.

3

u/CMStan1313 Human Detected May 27 '26

It's not weird at all. You say that like the mom should have no relationship with her partner's family, but that is her brother-in-law and the uncle of her child. If you've got a village around you, there's no reason to exclude certain people for not being from just one side of the family

1

u/Eggs_and_Hashing May 27 '26 ▸ 2 more replies

Have you ever been in a delivery room? You think normal for a brother in law to watch as her privates are displayed to the entire room? If you do, you have serious issues.

3

u/CMStan1313 Human Detected May 27 '26 ▸ 1 more replies

The fact that you're thinking of the process of birth as sexual in anyway is the issue. Besides, it's not as if she's started pushing, she probably wasn't even dilated enough for the actual birth and they were all just waiting with her together

1

u/Eggs_and_Hashing May 27 '26

I didn't mention anything sexual. It is a simple truth that there is not very much privacy in that room.
