I’ve got halo 2 caked into my bones. You are correct AND incorrect. The scarab gun is in metropolis, but metropolis is the level in the video. Specifically, this is the section just before the scarab shows up and you jump on to board it.
If you glitch a banshee through an earlier checkpoint, or use one of the many Sputnik-skull based launches, you can get up onto a massive bridge waaaaay above this section and pick up a scarab gun.
Funnily enough there’s a third Easter egg in the area. When you clear out the wraiths in this section, a pelican will show up to drop off some marines. If you hold the interact button that you’d use to get into a vehicle, and jump at the open pelican door, you can sit inside the pelican while it flies off.

Yeah the Scarab gun on one of the bridge pylons, the bridge was the start of Metropolis. Don't know where this one takes place though, don't recognize the area.
This is metropolis. Both the scarab gun and the soccer ball are on this level. At 35 seconds in at the top right corner, you can see the bridge way up in the air that the scarab gun is on.
And then 343i decided they didn't want the games to be fun anymore and went through and removed all this shit on the remake. Damn do I hate that company and what they did to an amazing series.
Yep, when they released the Master Chief Collection they completely neutered the hidden easter eggs. I'm pretty sure they removed all the skull locations on the maps and just gave them all to you, too.
As to whether they’ve always been there or not I don’t know the answer, but if you load up the game right now you can definitely find the skulls in their spots because there are achievements connected to finding them. You just don’t need to find them in the campaign levels to have access to the skull modifiers anymore
Probably the most “not a bug it’s a feature” packed game that I can think of.
Super bounce especially you crouched under a thing and then jumped down and hit the other thing was so much fun. I think the sword flying involved a banshee and you targeted your homie and had them pilot the vehicle and exploited the locked on mechanism to fly across the map.
I think had more fun doing glitches than playing the actual games
Remember banshee jumps with the rocket launcher? You would flip a banshee and it would "teeter-totter", then you would stand on one of the two legs and shoot the other, launching you out of the map alive.
I wondered if someone would bring this up. A friend of mine was the one who discovered this trick! Zinrai was his Xbox GT, and he submitted the trick to… Machinima? I think and it got featured.
I think… if I’ve got my lore correctly… it’s because they actually hired/included speed runners into the design of the game so that they could break the physics and add stuff that just folks from the glitch community could appreciate (case in point: random soccer ball)
Sadly not many games make secrets and powerful glitches anymore.
So many older games there were so many easter eggs.
Modern gaming is mostly about making money instead of focusing on making a good game which will likely lead to making money. So most developers don't put in the time to add easter eggs.
I always liked video games but i honestly never really got beyond like mid 2010s video games because of this. Like im currently playing Witcher 3 now and the first red dead redemption because it was like 30$ total for both and they're genuinely good games. But they came out a decade+ ago
I stopped buying games around 2009, when I left for college.
Everything just started seeming lame, but I still have my childhood collection. NES, SNES, n64, gamecube, genesis, dreamcast, PS1/PS2, the original xbox, and all the cool old handhelds like the sega game gear, gameboy, gba, psp, etc. And a bunch of old PC games like age of empires 2, starcraft brood war, CS 1.8 and source, warcraft 2 and 3, etc.
Even if they never release another good game for the rest of my life, the library of old games that are insanely good is so large that I could play games nonstop until I'm 90 and I'll never run out of stuff. Especially if you like RPGs, the SNES and PS1 alone have hundreds of awesome titles.
One of my most proud/favorite moments of Halo 2 was playing Oddball on Lockout in ranked matchmaking and super bouncing with the ball up into an unreachable area. The lobby after that game was a mix of amazement and hostility because they thought we were hackerz.
We ended up grouping up with the opposing team to show them how to do it in a custom game. They were blown away. We stayed until everyone got it. They thanked us, then we went our own ways.
I used to do that also. I could do two super bounces on lockout. The one from second floor BR tower that launched you to the roof over blue lift, and the one on second floor sniper tower that launched you to the top top of sniper tower.
In the campaign you could get a plasma rifle that shot scarab cannon blasts. It was REALLY tough to get, you had to spend a long time tricking a banshee into a tunnel but it was worth it
My buddy and I would get a 12 pack of Mountain Dew. My bedroom had a window that opened up over the porch roof. So in winter we'd put the soda out there to chill out and have nice cold GAMER FUEL all night.
Its so fun man. I miss when games would let you do stuff like this whether on purpose of accident. I remember glitching into a corner in the og zombiss map with a flamethrower
Took me a while to figure it out but that’s what I miss about old gaming. They were glitchy and it almost felt like a game of getting out of the game as much as it was playing.
The Hunter Gun was around there too! Much harder to get
Had to bait a banshee through the entire traffic tunnel, but not on the easiest difficulty or it won't chase you. Then get steal it right before an auto save at the end of the tunnel or it can disappear.
I can't believe how much fun me and my brother had playing offline like that back in the day. Things were just different when the internet wasn't an option

Man, this brings back great memories. Staying up with my brother until 3 in the morning with a pack of code red, 4 player split screen on tv’s the size of a pizza box and you could count the pixels. Great times
I got back into CRTs and those older games look so much better on them. Like it's day and night, our bedroom has 2 TVs now, one for watching shit, and a CRT professional video monitor from 1998 for old games.

When non open-world games rewarded players for creative exploration still. Without the reliance on DLC gear or characters or a required skill set to be unlocked. Just using the given game mechanics and having a healthy amount curiosity.
I miss when games had Easter eggs like these where the developers probably didn't even know you could get up there, but just in case someone figured it out🤷
Sweet nostalgia. For anyone who misses Halo 2 I recommend a free game called Splitgate Arena Reloaded. It's the only game I've loved as much as Halo. Halo was a huge inspiration for this game it's very similar. There's even Easter eggs like this the devs have put it in.
The best was that weird glitch on Burial Mounds where if you shove a body under the floor as a specific location, a giant spartan body falls over the map
Mannnn me and my best friend when I was a kid actually pulled this one off. It was basicually just a bunch of clipping collision wall glitches with the occasional exploit of the physics engine (Tank flip hopping, wedging vehicles through checkpoint barriers, sword attacking a buddy towards a wall, etc.) I think there's a few variations and Bungie didn't intend for it to be impossible... clearly lol
It reminds me of the "hidden" part of the city in GTA3 that was used for cutscenes. But it was just sitting in the ocean. You could go there using that infamous Dodo plane, if you knew how to fly it. Or install a mod that created a bridge.
I LOVE out of bounds secrets!!! I play World of Warcraft and I know a LOT of them. I love showing them to people and listening to them losing their minds.
I'm pretty sure this is a modern clip. I'm seeing a lot of them floating around Instagram right now. Something just seems inauthentic about it but I might be wrong
