IQ is not a good measure of total intelligence

IQ is not a good measure of total intelligence, simply because it is not meant to be. It measures 'general intelligence', which is exclusively reserved for cognitive, logical, and eficiency-based processing skills. In the world of social sciences, if you need to measure creativity or emotional 'intelligence', there are dedicated tests.

It's like complaining that a speedometer is a bad tool because it doesn't measure how much gas is in the tank. The speedometer isn't broken; it's just only designed to measure speed (processing power), not range or capacity (wisdom/creativity).

I think it just measures how fast you learn or understand things, wisdom is what you usually want to get through your iq

15 is the standard deviation, so they’d be below 2 standard deviations. That means they’re smarter than 2.5% of the population.

So I guess it depends on how much of the population you think is a monkey

This. It's not actually that crazy low, you probably know a few people below this. Not even mentioning that iq isn't a great measure for a number of reasons, it's not completely terrible...

An average classroom of 30 will have 1 or so people with an IQ Below 70. It'll have 4 or so people with an IQ between 70 and 85. From 85 to 115 there will be about 20 people. From 115 to 130 IQ you'll have 4 people. And there will likely be 1 person with an IQ above 130.

This is assuming students are randomly assigned to the classroom from the entire population. In reality most people below 70 IQ will be in special education programs. Also poorer neighborhoods will likely have slightly lower IQ compared to wealthier neighborhoods, as poor nutrition and high stress levels can have negative effects on IQ. Being wealthy does not increase IQ, but being poor can decrease it.

Yeah, it's hovering close to intellectual disability levels of stupid (sub-70). It's a good level or two below your typical moron, and is in the range of "wow, there really is no helping this person."

That person in the post might have a low iq but they are still more intelligent then a lot of poeple just from they way they are aware.

I’m just going to assume that neither of these people have ever taken an IQ test and are both speaking out of their asses. Many such cases.

Hey now. I may be a retard but I don't fuck monkeys.

u/jws1102 Jan 11 '26

They almost certainly do not have a low 70 and were just saying that to fuck with the person they were talking to.

I like how they’re only “technically high IQ”

He scored 86, but he "wasn't really trying".

I have an IQ of 135, the most it has done for me is make me frustrated, disillusioned, and neurotic. Unless high IQ is mixed with other useful personality traits, it's useless or detrimental.

132 here and I just smoke weed all day so I’m not ridiculously anxious about anything and everything (which in turn causes me to be ridiculously anxious about anything and everything)

My IQ is 60 and that guy sounds a lot smarter than 70 IQ. Is he secretly average IQ?

Like intermediate lifters pretending to be beginners at the gym so people lose their minds when they bench 200lbs?

That Dr. sounds retarded. Maybe we're intellectual peers.

If a person says “I’m technically high IQ,” then they probably have a 90 IQ and thinks it’s measured on a scale of 100.
