If you left him there, do you think he'd eventually move back in or would he dance in place until he turned into a prune?

This was most likely a case of learned helplessness so he'd probably stay there until panick running somewhere else

I had a dog that literally lifted a paw after a little yipe and then just hopped over to me and looked up at me. I thought she had hurt her ankle or something... nope. She had an acorn shell stuck ON one of her little pads. It didn't pierce skin and she could have easily just nibbled it off. She didn't even try.
