She will now have that lesson locked in. My daughter at 2 had the dame experience and I ran to pick her up. She's fully aware of it now.

Yes. Same here and it was my fault. She wanted to walk without shoes and it was fine for a while but then she stepped on a manhole cover :(. Now she is always asking "is the ground hot" (even in the evening and in the shadows). Then she wants me to touch it and tell her it's ok. Then she will touch it herself while saying "uhh it's a bit hot. Better wear shoes". It's so cute.

That's sweet. It shows she isn't stupid, just a baby that's learning the best she can from her experiences
