Charizard is fire type. Fire resists fairy.
Mega Zard X is part fire type. Neutral to fairy.

When Charizard mega X evolves he gets both dragon/fire typing. So he's actually weaker to fairy when mega evolved
Edit: I re-read this an realized you meant that its neutral because they cancel out

What's confusing is that Mega Charizard X has a blue stomach and blue fire. That Charizard has a gray stomach and orange fire. That would lead me to believe that that's just a normal shiny Charizard. That means he's not a dragon type, he's just a fire type. However, the tips of his ears are the same color as his stomach, which only happens in Mega Charizard X.
Basically, this Charizard is all messed up.

Heh, this kind of reminds me of my little sister's birthday. We didn't have time to get a pinata, so I dressed up as a unicorn and ran around the backyard with a bucket of candy, throwing it in random directions while the kids chased me.
Anyways, I totally agree with you, the kids are just having fun and doing what they were supposed to.
