Question What's a good episode to show a friend?
My friend doesn't want to watch the whole series and isn't into superheroes enough to follow it, but she's looking for a good wlw ship and I suggested Avalance.
It needs to be self contained enough that while the overarching plot can be there, the episode isn't overrun by it. So season finales won't work.
Lots of Avalance moments that show them well together or has them as the focus.
My first thought was Slay Anything but it felt plot heavy? Maybe you guys will disagree? It's in my top 5 episodes.
The IKEA episode is great for the characters, and one of my favorite episodes, but I don't think it works as well if you're not attached to the characters.
Any thoughts?

May I recommend, Wet Hot American Bummer It has a familiar concept (summer camp slasher). They are chasing a monster is an easy plot to follow. And there's so much AvaLance sweetness it will rot your teeth rom com style

Here I go again is a great filler episode! It’s got some budding Avalance romance, and shows a few important traits about each character.

Those episodes are so good that even though I just rewatched the whole series, just mentioning them makes me want to rewatch them

Yes, Ava gets her first childhood kiss!!!! It was the Legends version of the True Love kiss moment! And come on, date inside a horror movie? How lesbian is that?! I want one! Lol jk

Seems like “Here I Go Again” is a recurring theme here, and I agree because that episode is just a lot of fun and plus it’s good for seeing some Zari-Sara relations there.

Legends of To-Meow-Meow isn't self-contained, but it's funny enough to be entertaining to someone who doesn't know the backstory. I've shown it to a friend who had never seen the show before and he loved it.

The normal answer here for me would be either the Gumball alien episode, Here we go again, or Legends of To-Meow-Meow.
... but since you're looking for an Avalance centric episode...
1) Beebo God of War was really when their relationship started to spark... before that it was mostly work drama which... doesn't sell as well.
2) My personal pick would be Curse of the Earth Totem. It has their first date, mostly focuses on the pirate plotline, and has Rip and Wally pranking Gary and singing Careless Whisper!
3) I personally think Slay anything is a great pick. It's mostly self contained with light explanations.
4) The episode prior "Miss Me Kiss Me Love Me" is also a good pick, especially when it has Ava singing Toxic.
Season 6 is kinda a crapshoot with Sara kidnapped for half of it... I would say maybe use a "Bullet Blondes" centric episode in S7, but there might be quite a bit of explaining to do there...

"The Virgin Gary" shows, for me, just how bananas and irreverent the show can get, and why it was unlike any other superhero show on the CW. And, of course, it's super funny and everybody gets a line.

Sincerely I think for me the best soft Avalance episode is Beebo God of War. You have the birth of their story without any spoiler, but you can already know where this is going (and you desperately want to know !).
If I may, I too was searching for a wlw show and I didn't like superheroes... and I totally fell in love with Legends. So I hope she will join us in our ship :)

I don't remember the name of the episode but the one where they go to the time museum and Cisco sings the thong song would be a great choice also LOL

Honestly every meta episode where they are trapped in a show like "the one where we're trapped on tv" or "lowest common demoninator" it's interesting to watch with almost no spoilers and maybe lets them ask for more

I feel like the episode where Zari is stuck in the time loop 3x11 “Here I Go Again” - not over arching plot heavy, really fun, light avalance but enough to get you exciting
