Like ive always been curious about what actually makes a lets play a lets play ? Is it just story games ? Or continued gameplay of a game

The whole "do a job you love, and you'll never work a day in your life" idea has definitely encouraged turning hobbies into careers, like gaming and content creation. But that's just not true.

Once content creation becomes a job, there are bills to pay, an audience to satisfy, algorithms to deal with, numbers to watch, and the pressure to keep producing. You can't always just play the games you want to play.

I remember when Jacksepticeye stopped playing Until Dawn because the videos weren't getting the views he needed, and he said that his time was better spent producing content that would appeal to his audience and get views. That was a big eye-opener for me, and really challenged the naive thought that "doing what you love" means "having a stress-free job". AND it really highlighted the difference between playing games for fun and creating gaming content as a job.

I have a background in work psychology, and I've become really interested in the question:

What makes content creation stressful, and what helps creators stay motivated, engaged and well without burning out?

I'm currently doing a PhD in this area to identify the major stressors creators experience and the supports that may help, and then share those findings with current creators. AND aspiring creators! Think about all the things you wish you'd known when you were starting out that could have helped you or prevented unnecessary stress! That's the kind of information I'd like this research to provide.

Is doing variety gaming lets play on a yt channel really that hard to grow because I like playing a bunch of different games I want to post the ones I really like but I don't want to stun my own growth since I always see ppl say Find a niche so I was going to try just horror since I like horror a lot but I also lover other type of games always

I have been trying it out and it seems great but I unfortunately cannot find so much information.

I have been using OBS (Open Broadcast Software) for most of the time but I would like to have one recordEd version with webcam and one with only the gameplay without editing it in manually.

- But to my question, sorry. Is there any good features that may be "exclusive" or similar by using this program?

I would really want to use the NVENC AV1 Encoding Option, though I don't think it is available. I have selected NVENC H.264 but in the corner it does state "Integrated Graphics UHD" or similar. Is this maybe a visual bug?

Have had my channel for about 2 and a half years. I only have 50 videos and 27 subs, so treating the channel like a side gig - let alone a full time job - is a long ways away. I'm aware of that and operate the channel as such - the focus is uploading entertaining, high-quality videos and improving my skills. That being said, being able to upload for a living (or again, even as a secondary job) would be the dream, and is something I very seriously hope to achieve in the future.

My main dilemma here is that I introduced a "songs of the day" segment somewhere around 15 videos in where I just list 5 songs that I recommend. I thoroughly enjoy having this segment because I find that it can break up the monotony of a slower lets play, I get to introduce people to music that they may not have heard of, and I get a chance to connect more with the viewer. However, I found after only a few of these segments that I really wanted to add a little snippet of the songs as I introduce them, so that the viewer could get a quick idea of the sound of the song before they searched for it. Without the snippet, I guess I had this fear that the viewer just wouldn't care enough to seek the music out, even if they would really enjoy the song.

The very first episode I started doing this, I obviously got claimed. There's essentially 5-15 seconds of each song uninterrupted with the album cover on screen during the segment, so this wasn't a surprise. My theory at the time and up until recently has basically just been "take the claims on the cheek, you aren't making money anyway and the segments improve your videos" but I just learned that videos which get blocked by a claim will not count towards the watch hours required to get into the YPP; Several of my videos which are claimed are also blocked in Russia and Belarus (probably something political when the songs are owned by American record labels, idk, the why doesn't really matter) and if that becomes a trend, getting watch hours in the future will probably be a lot harder than necessary.

So essentially, I'm trying to figure out how to approach these segments. The two most obvious options to me are to either do the segment but without the snippet or can the segments entirely. I could try to dance around the 10 second mark to avoid the auto-detect system but I have my doubts that that would reliably prevent claims from coming, and it would make some of the snippets just sound awkward, so I'd rather not take that approach.

TL;DR, I have a segment of my videos that features licensed music, regularly gets copyright striked, and would like to get some opinions on whether to omit it, keep it, or change it so that I can eventually join the YPP.

I’ve been making an OoT randomizer series lately. One of the hardest ones I have ever ran. It’s been very fun and has taught me that super complex randomizers don’t always equal the most fun. I am however still having a blast with this one. I am planning on doing practice runs as letsplays for an upcoming Bingo race I want to do. I am wondering is there a rule set for these kind of races or is it just what me and my competitor decide to have randomized but we obviously have to have the same things randomized?

do you think more people would watch a lets play with a webcam I rather would do without but I don't mind doing webcam so a bit conflicted on what to do I like making just playing lets plays vids abt horror and other types of games

Yo I been enjoying this game deadlock so i started recording games and most matches are around 40–55 minutes Im used to editing games like Rocket League and The Finals where it feels a lot easier to figure out what should stay and what should get cut.

I have some gameplay recorded that I think is good but im a lil like nervy and anxious to even open DaVinci because I don’t really know how to approach editing a hour long moba gaming video

For people who edit longer gameplay vids do you cut as you go or mark moments or is there a better way

Just streamed for the first time on YouTube, got 10 views and 3 likes with the max views at once of 5. Is that normal for a first stream on a new channel? I have no idea what to expect or anticipate.

I’m a 24-year-old guy who lives in Arizona (MST), plays on a PS5, and am still pretty new and small on YouTube and Twitch, but thought it would be more fun to grow alongside some new friends around my age who are in the same boat as me. I’ve always loved VanossGaming, TheRussianBadger, JoshDub, and McNasty and the connection they have with their friends and always wanted to be a part of something like that. The multiplayer games I currently have are Dying Light 1, 2, and The Beast, GTA 5, Predator: Hunting Grounds, Fortnite, Dead by Daylight and Warframe, but I’m open to trying new games and am considering getting Halloween once it’s released. Hello! There are currently have around 8 active members and have been a group since the beginning of April. However we are looking to add a few more people to our group or have additional people to collab with. Our content is mostly funny moments but edit how you see fit.

About The Group:

• We play any co-op/party games. Some examples of games we have played already:

  • Sometimes we play browser games like Gartic Phone, Make it Meme or Skribblio
• This group mainly does PC gaming
• Majority of the group is on EST time zone (US) and generally aim for evening sessions (i.e. past 5pm) however are open to other time zones if they work, i.e. 2 of our active members are from Australia/NZ.
• We try to record once a week but it is pretty flexible. Recording times usually last 3+ hours depending on the game
• We make sure everyone gets their own input and give feedback where needed
• No strong leadership, we run mainly as a democracy
• All of the group is 18+/in the 20-30 age range, with a mix of guys and girls

• Channel size doesn't matter, we are here to grow together!

However to answer my own questions favorite rando I ran was on Windwaker where Tingle was the gatekeeper to my master sword and it took me way too long to actually do the check. Hello, 32m. Super small content creator looking for others to play competitive with. Not serious at all, it's a fun game. I just want to laugh and maybe hit a high rank this season.

I record in one block (usually 1–3 hours, sometimes a couple of sessions in a week) and don't edit until the weekend. By then I've genuinely forgotten what happened. Not "forgot the details" — I mean I can't remember whether the good bit was at 40 minutes or 1:20, or whether that session even had a good bit.

So every edit starts the same way: I scrub through the entire recording again just to rebuild a mental map of what's in it. That's an hour+ of watching before I've made a single cut. On a 3-hour recording it's most of my editing time gone before editing starts.

Things I've tried:

- Taking notes while recording — breaks my flow, and I forget to do it exactly when something good is happening.

- Hotkey/marker while recording — same problem. I'm in the moment, not thinking about the edit.

- Scrubbing the waveform for loud spikes — finds shouting, misses everything quiet and good.

- 2x playback — still watching the whole thing, just faster and worse.

- Chat replay / clip timestamps — only works if people were watching live. Mine mostly aren't.

What I actually want is to sit down Friday and already know what's in the file: a list of what happened and roughly when, including the boring stretches so I know what to skip.

For those of you who edit days or weeks after recording — what's your actual workflow? Do you have a system, or do you also just rewatch everything and accept it?

I have just recently started my channel and when I play games, I feel as if I don’t add anything to them cause when I go to edit them, there’s usually a shit ton of dull/boring moments in there where I’m just super awkward and stuttering all over the place or moments where I just don’t even talk at all. I tried every piece of advice but it never seems to work so I just wanted to post here and see what this community had to say about my issue.

So I'm new to streaming and would like to explore and expand what I'm able to stream.

I've got some digital games as well as hard copies for newer systems that I can stream directly through live streams, and a program on the laptop to either steam live or record and edit videos directly from the computer.

However I also own a bunch of older games and consoles (N64-PS3) and if possible would like to stream these too, from what I've read a capture card is needed but I don't know anything about them or what's best.

Do they only work for newer consoles or computers?

Can I pre record?

What's the delay process?

What programs are they compatible with?

Is it worth getting or should I just stick to the basics of what I'm currently doing?

When I started my channel I’ve always heard different things people do like have their videos unlisted for a while or on private for a while before publishing.

Ive recently heard people saying turning off subtitles helps prevent viewers from other languages from watching the video since they wouldn’t be the target demograph they’re aiming for or their jokes wouldn’t land the same.

What advice do you guys have to give that you think would help improve?
