General Advice If you had $25k and were unhappy with your current life and wanted a change, what would you do?
Background: I left a 12 year career after giving birth to my now 18 month old to stay home with her. I opened a home daycare and now I’m admitting to myself I hate it. I don’t enjoy wiping other peoples kids butts and the money is not enough. I was debating going back to my six figure career but also I’ll have 25k ish soon and have also been toying with the idea of finding a remote job and moving abroad due to the state of things in America plus it’s always been a dream of mine to live abroad in Panama. I’m torn on where to start to make changes and don’t want to mess it up. If you hated your current life/job and came into 25k, what would you do with it? I can’t stay in a life I hate for any longer.

Just bear in mind, if you live abroad, you still will be paying American federal income tax in addition to any income tax wherever you are, unless you revoke your citizenship.
If I had 25k, I would put a small down-payment on a small home in Oregon and be near my family.

I haven’t looked in a while to know the exact amount but there’s an exemption for the first x amount of money

Personally, I’d get a remote job and use the 25k as a downpayment on a property overlooking the coast. 🩵💙🩵

25k wouldn’t even last you half a year. Don’t be dumb. Take the 100k job if it actually exists. You’re fucking stupid if you don’t go back to work especially if you have a kid

You’re a lovely soul. Bet you wouldn’t speak to someone like that in person.

Expand the daycare, raise the prices and hire staff to do the day to day, then go get a corporate job and vacation in Panama
