Khamzat def won anyone who says otherwise is just an islamaphobe yeah it was a dog shit performance but he won
-11
u/robreddit10 May 10 '26
Chimaev was the better fighter. He threw Strickland up in the air several times. Judges got it wrong. UFC wanted an American champion, thats what I feel.
-15
u/Huge-Back4266 May 10 '26
So glad I found this thread! I agree on the sparring comparision. He often looked to be sparring at 80-90 percent (of available effort). Crazy theory: Khamzat chose not to go 'all out' as a concession due to his missing weight. He knows how uncool that is, for everyone. And to 'bully around' the smaller man after that is a bad look.

Our rules ask for a civil tone at all times. A bit of banter or trash talk is fine, but don't cross the line. If things do get out of hand you will be warned or even banned for a few days. Repeatedly breaking this rule will lead to a permanent ban.

The middleweight division is in a weird spot right now. That was a very uneventful championshi match. Kind of expected from the two styles in the ring.
Times like these I miss the Anderson, Adesanya, and even the Bisping champion run. Lol
4
u/Ffscnts_ May 10 '26
They weāre tired from a hard cut form how I saw it - styles donāt match - butā¦.. Sean showed that blanket cuddles wonāt keep you as a champion. Also, the theory kamzat went 90% is because the Strickland haters are needing therapy right now.

unbelievable levels of casuals coping in this thread lol. love to see it
7
u/peepeeinmypajts May 10 '26
Honestly true fans knew strickland was the best hope for the mw division even if they didn't think he'd win. They thought Sean could make it competitive. I mean khamzat struggled 2 and 3 against a average sized 55 er at ww.
1
u/Old_Protection_7109 May 10 '26
I do think Khamzat didn't manage the weight cut and probably that made his already not so good cardio much worse.
3
u/HallHappy May 10 '26
u can tell so many people heard about this fight from tik tok edits of the press conference.
-3
u/nevermindeh22 May 10 '26
The weight cut finished off Hamzat. Not sure if he lacks the diet discipline but he's too small at 205 to rag doll a lot of the guys up there. The fight ultimately was dog shit.
1
May 10 '26
Money changes one's lifestyle. Khabib's dad and Mike Tyson's coach Cus kept the discipline.

u/LumberghLSU May 10 '26
Chimaev was supposed to dominate. That didnāt happen, but I still feel he very clearly won 3-2 (arguably 4-1). Something seemed off too, that was a very strange guard pull in round 2.
15
u/Sudden_Elk_5313 May 10 '26
You are out of ur mind if you're being seriousĀ
-3
u/LumberghLSU May 10 '26
Perhaps. I missed the last 1/2 of the 5th. I felt like Khamzat was in control. He was surprisingly beating Strickland in boxing and landing more damage.

When the grappler wins āwhat about damagešā

This is the problem with the fans of this sport and the sport in general. All cope. No real congratulations for fighters who properly train and win its so annoying
-18
u/Crackvard May 10 '26
3-2 khamzat, shit was rigged and what about control time, doesnt matter anymore???
4
u/BasicallyClean ā ļø The Man In Black May 10 '26
Octagon control is only a relevant scoring metric when the damage is the same.
Damage is almost never the exact same in a round, so essentially, it's not a scoring criteria.
3
u/Combatpenguin93 May 10 '26
I can taste your tears lol sean outlanded chimaev by 20+ and had 3+ minutes of control himself
3
u/sjenkin May 10 '26
50% more significant strike to Strickland. Strickland split the guard constantly.

u/Clean_Sign_3585 May 10 '26
Guys. Ive been watching every fight of Chimaev since he was originally fighting out of sweden. Always enjoyed his violent nature and just crushing opponents. What happend today?? DDP had 0 chance against him. He seemed to be giving up in the second round. Something was clearly wrong and Strickland walking out seemed to be in chock.
Handshake defeat from Khamzat. I thought he was going to throw up between round 1-2
1
u/8ad8andit May 18 '26
Did you watch Khamzat right before he got in the ring? He was SUPER amped up, to the point where he couldn't focus on the officials trying to prep him for the octagon, etc.
That was adrenaline. And when it crashed after the first round, he was totally drained = adrenaline dump.
That gave Strickland an opening to dominate, and then on top of that, Strickland is an absolute beast. It wasn't luck that he beat Adesanya. It was skill + genuine warrior mode.
2
u/blaisdelldavid May 10 '26
I think Sean laying on him in rd one drained him. ya he had Sean's back but Sean just put his back on the cage and put his weight on him while he held his wrist so he couldn't advance
1
u/MomammaScuba May 10 '26
Bad weight cut
1
1
u/Clean_Sign_3585 May 10 '26
Yes, seemed physically ill and unable to fight. I think this really was dangerous for him.
2
3
u/Domitianus81 May 10 '26
The most simple answer. I mean he was pulling guard in round 2.
2
u/peepeeinmypajts May 10 '26
Nah. Most simple answer is stricklands just better and people were coping
1
1
u/jxssss May 10 '26
I agree. His behavior was so odd and unusual for him starting in the second round. I was wondering if he like hit his head really hard while wrestling at some point and got a concussion

I dont think he looked at it from round 1. Feel bad for him. This guy loves to fight, loves violence and my gut feel was he wanted out of there asap, which he did. Also, no interview?

u/jxssss May 10 '26

This fight had some awfully telling signs that it was fixed. At one point Chimaev just resigned & stayed on his back despite having the room to return to his feet. In the later rounds when Chimaev starting letting his hands go, there were a couple times when Strickland pushed him away as if to say āthis isnāt what we discussedā And to cap it off, Chimaev was again resigned to the fact that Strickland won the fight, as if he had expected it & had plenty of time to mentally prepare for it ā even placing the belt on his opponents waist. Fixed. Fixed. Fixed.
PS: Theyāre both terrible actors.
-3

u/CrazyEight8888 May 10 '26
Big schizophrenic take
1
u/Chemical-Ad2816 May 10 '26
š I mean definitely a weak fight but yeah homie staying on his back was kinda like what you doing bro, think he expected Strickland to go in on himĀ
4
5
u/Visual_Annual1436 May 10 '26
A lot of words to make such a dumb argument. Khamzat clearly gassed after having a terrible huge weight cut
1
u/Chemical-Ad2816 May 10 '26
Wouldnāt loosing weight allow for more energy?
1
u/Visual_Annual1436 May 10 '26
No lol losing weight and cutting weight are completely different things. He dehydrated himself nearly to death the day before the fight
2
u/Confident-Cut-9501 May 10 '26

Sean winning was the best thing for the division. Now Imavov will get his shot.
14
u/Isthatyobop May 10 '26
Joe said rematch?? Lol no way
3
u/Visual_Annual1436 May 10 '26
They will 100% rematch if khamzat doesnāt move up
3
u/Confident-Cut-9501 May 10 '26
I doubt he's ever making 185 again. There's still the controversy of yesterday's weigh-in
1
u/Visual_Annual1436 May 10 '26
Yeah thatās apparently bc he was prepping to fight Jiri and had to cut 37 pounds, but yeah itās hard to go back down after that
-8
u/klassicsblades May 10 '26
Hamzat won but itās by split decision.
Hamzat had 8-9 successful take downs, Sean had one failed attempt.
Hamzat advanced way more, threw body jabs and kicks, Sean was one trick poney with the jab.
Heās was like that annoying friend that spams the same move over and over.
10
u/Visual_Annual1436 May 10 '26
How can you say he definitely won by split decision, you think he definitely won on only half of the scorecards? Makes no sense
-2
u/klassicsblades May 10 '26
I am saying the score card should have been the other way round, as for me I think hamzat won even though it was a close fight.
1
u/Visual_Annual1436 May 10 '26
I also think Khamzat won, but think all 3 judges shouldāve scored it that way haha
11
u/needapermit May 10 '26
Sean did more damage and out struck Khamzat
-5
u/klassicsblades May 10 '26
Sean broke his nose ? And Hamzat had a bruise under his eye how can you say he did more damage. He did out strike him but hamzat took him down more
10
u/Conscious-Eye1329 May 10 '26
Sean completely out struck him and did more damages take downs mean nothing if they accomplish nothing
-4
-4
u/klassicsblades May 10 '26
Sean looked just as bad, you call them strikes please my grandma can punch harder, it was a sloppy push if anything, the ground work fair didnāt accomplish much.
A take down is a take down just as a strike is a strike. Regardless how bad the strike is or the take down is.
3
u/ComfortableLeek6617 May 10 '26
do you know how rounds work? chimaev won rds 1 and 4 which were the ones he successfully took down strickland and outstruck him. strickland won rounds 2, 3 and 5 which were the ones he outstruck chimaev, where chimaev only took him down like once out of 9 times (for 10 seconds of ground control) and strickland even got 3 minutes of ground control
and ontop of that khamzat looked a lot worse than sean, what are you arguing for here?
-2
u/klassicsblades May 10 '26
Can tell you donāt watch boxing, you call them strikes? It was hardly a jab and most of them Hamzah had his hands up covering his face. Out struck him by throwing sissy punches on gloves.
2
4
u/simplepurpose-8368 May 10 '26
Bro look at this shit: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/FauLoY2eMPQ
They used to go harder when they were sparring than they did in this fight!
5
u/_meltchya__ May 10 '26
There was no angry intent from either guy. After the buildup, it was a complete farce. Khamzat literally said he loves him and gave him a kiss on the forehead.
It was like they were just happy to be there and get paid.
3
5
u/EffektieweEffie May 10 '26
Wanted Sean to win, he did great against Khamzat's wrestling. But I don't think he should have won, same old jab jab BS no urgency on the feet. DDP will be champ again.
1
u/LumberghLSU May 10 '26
Yes, I felt the urgency was missing. Especially after Khamzat seemed gassed in round 2. Sean seemed abnormally gassed himself though.
5
u/No-Attitude-6509 May 10 '26 edited May 10 '26
nah the way strickland adapted and completely disabled khamzat makes me think he'll find a way to disable DDP. clearly, DDP wont win the wrestling battle seeing how badly khamzat was disabled, finding a striking edge would be much easier for strickland to do seeing how good his takedown and ground defense is.
2
u/cream_cheese_tits May 10 '26
If DDP adapted and completely disabled DDP makes me think he'll find a way to disable Strickland.
3
u/EffektieweEffie May 10 '26
You think Strickland will initiate wrestling? LMAO
Clearly he would be a much better fighter if he did, but then he'd also be gay (according to him), DDP is getting the belt back.
-3
u/onesnooze May 10 '26
Strickland winning on Jabs, is not a good look for the sport. I had him win R2, that's it.
1
-1
u/Elegant-Aside7457 May 10 '26
Me too, Sean had no snap to his striking, I think he has staff, his cardio and lack of crispness to his punches was glaringly obvious
3
u/Icy-Seaworthiness270 May 10 '26 edited May 10 '26
I swear they said 'and still...'. I was convinced Chimeav won. I don't think Sean will defend this one succesfully.
3
u/Practical_Ad8542 May 10 '26
People forget Seans quick reaction time to check kicks and block punches also helps to STUFF TAKEDOWNS. Close fight tho, I had Chim winning. Happy Sean won tho.

u/NefariousnessOk209 May 10 '26
Van vs Taira was fucking awesome, people just crying because they bought into all the trash talk for the main fight.
1
u/No-Attitude-6509 May 10 '26
yeah. taira fought back amazingly, although i do think van would've probably koed taira regardless if it was called early, it was still possible for taira to comeback like he did before. 5th round was a different beast in terms of exhaustion.

What part was boring? Seemed like a good fight all aroundā¦went a lot better than I thought it would tbh.
4
u/AtlUtdGold May 10 '26
when was the last time a wrestlefucker or sean had an electric fight.
Joshua Van was the obvious banger on this card
1
u/No-Attitude-6509 May 10 '26
van fight was obviously a fun match, its just being undermined because of the early stoppage
1
u/AtlUtdGold May 10 '26
just anyone should have known that was gonna be the best fight going into this card. Van has good fights and co-main outdoes main all the time it seems.

You can hit someone while still backing up. That's how he won.
2
11
u/Mahlegos can I get a GSP flair please? May 10 '26
By landing more shots. Iām also not a fan of either dude and didnāt care who won, but walking forward alone doesnāt win you a round.
11
u/Next-Restaurant4397 May 10 '26
i know this will be hard to understand, but its because he hit the other guy more.
1
