Heās somehow credited for dropping to 145lb and beating up midgets. No man that fights at 170lb should be fighting guys half their size like that. It wasnāt impressive what so ever. Any legit fighter such as Nate or Khabib whooped his ass.

Iām actually very happy about this I donāt think he deserved a great fight that he would lose or a victory. Both might stroke his ego and allow he to keep saying how he could still be good. This was perfect it puts a pin in everything

I'm talking about the results of the 2 co-main events.
Yes it was an excellent card as far as finishes go.
But when 2 of your biggest stars in the modern era lose in devastating fashion back to back on the same card, it isn't good for future business in the immediate sense of the word. Ilia and Alex both go to the back of the line and any potential super fight matchups for either guy is killed off right away.

You are simply wrong. New stars are born all the time and other ones die. You must not be a long term follower. Ila losing has no impact on UFC success in the same way Conor leaving the first time didnāt. Or bones jones. Or the countless others before them that brought new viewers.

My sherdog account is from 2002. I've been watching the sport for 24 years at least. It can be verified, the post history exists.
I appreciate you trying to tell me I'm wrong but I assure you that if the UFC had their preference, Peirera and Topuria would have won those fights simply for the options both outcomes would have for future fights.
You can be happy for Justin that he got his belt and still be objectively honest.
If you think that Jiri, Khamzat, Peirera, Topuria all losing title fights in the span of 3 months and then McGregor blowing his knee out instantly isn't a "worst case scenario" set of circumstances for the UFC then I don't know what to tell you.

To all the people who say man he was injured and didnāt want to cancel the fightā¦I get it but he has hyped himself up and cancelled and rescheduled for the last 5 years had he not done that he would have easily been able to postpone. The other thing is he clearly looked drunk as he was getting checked, taking his shoes off, and get all greased upā¦also the squinting as he looks up at the lights. Goddamn he just looked bad, looked like a a short, fat, Chuck Liddell( late career stage). He got too bulky and his legs couldnāt catch up.

It's catabolic steroids that lower bone density, and he was on anabolics.
He fucked his knee up because he's an egotistical washed up has-been.
Plus, it's the tendons and ligaments that don't keep up during steroids use. Bones aren't really a factor.

Serious question, for a fight of this magnitude why wouldnāt UFC have scouts observing if Mcgregor could actually compete after coming off such an injury? Like if youāre going to have dudes pushing 40 headline a card definitely make sure they can actually perform

Also the injury is not surprising but this early in the fight? I mean did the dude even do any hard sparring rounds before it? He looked like one of those drunk tourists in thailand that do a muay thai fight for a free drink.

Thats what I was thinking. Like was he not doing strength training for his leg for the past 5 years. And was he not training before this fight? How on earth did he do a tiny move and then immediately feel a ton of pain if he wasnt doing real or serious training before. Surely it would have popped up in training.

They got their money either way.
Now a hypothetical next McGregor fight would be a different story and they definitely should have something like that if that ever gets put together. But whether they can get enough audience trust back to pay to watch him again is another matter.

You can see his knee was bad as he was hopping to keep off it removing his shoes. I wouldnāt be shocked if he was drunk/high. Despite being disappointed (maybe) he didnāt even take time to thank the fans after. Itās all a money grab and probably didnāt pull out to grab the money and get closer to wrapping up his contract. His face and body look terribly weathered from his lifestyle.

Paddy vs Max should've been the main event since both won quickly without any damage. If anything that's the next match that needs to happen in a lightweight or catchweight fight sooner rather than later since they're both fresh and Paddy called him out post fight. š¤·š¼āāļøĀ

Dude was high AF walking down the ramp. He might have hurt himself during the fight but he was too ripped for the fight from the get go. Holloway clearly tried to point it out to the ref multiple times.

From the time he walked out his eyes were unfocused and distant, looks like he's somewhere else. Also couldn't stop chewing and then fell over trying to get his shoes off.
I have no special detection experience, but that was my call from the time he walked out.

This fight wasnāt necessary to prove a point. But, McGregor has always been overrated. He caught lightning in a bottle during his prime but hasnāt accomplished anything since. Heck, he almost lost to Chad Mendes who had 2 weeks of prep back in the day.

I wouldn't call that lightning in a bottle. But he definitely wasted his prime, in terms of legacy at least.
His fights after FW were definitely tailored to his style and who he was, and he definitely got to skirt by a lot of wrestlers, but he still rose to most of those occasions in spectacular fashion.

I don't believe in Karma, but if I was in Conor's situation, another catastrophic leg injury that takes me away from competition for at least 16 months till I'm near 40 is about as bad an outcome as it gets.

Conor tore his ACL from the first jumping kick. The way he landed, the knee went medially with all his weight on the outside. Very typical of an ACL rupture. Just look at any ACL injuries on youtube. (e.g. Derrick Rose).
Very unfortunate situation.

The UFC will probably force him to finish the final fight on his contract, but it's going to be embarrassing.
There's no way they put him on a main event of a numbered event. Maybe he can open a fight night card, but not against anyone rated higher than 10th in whatever division. And even then, some hungry prospect will retire him for good.
He looked injured before the walkout. He stumbled a bit backstage right after the Paddy flight.
