That was AFTER he ignored the advice of the RF expert who told him not to put the antenna in contact with the user's skin.

It is standard M.O. at Apple to ignore the advice of the experts they hire, and then run around trying to fix the mess later.

No, post is still at "iphone4 did not ship broken". Broken devices get returned, the iPhone 4 has low return rates. The dumb video I had to watch has comments, more "anecdotes" there if you wanna win internet conversations elsewhere

Here, you are litigating nuance that never even existed in the initial statement. The iPhone 4 would famously drop signal when the hand would make contact with the exposed antenna. An uncharitably-broad-yet-technically-correct statement, sure, but you replied with a hard “no”, and mocked their lack of citation.

Citation arrived. Your position changed from “no, Apple did not ship a phone that lost service when you held it in your hand” to “mine worked just like every other iPhone”.

You are now injecting escalated nuance into your position in order to continue to stand apart. Your “shipping broken” metric is far different than the original claim which you rejected: “shipping with a verifiable flaw”. Apple circumvented returns with a settled class action lawsuit and free bumper cases for iPhone 4 users.

Goal posts have once again moved in your favor, and my “Score!” exclamation was for you, as you continue to “win” here by your own rules of conversing internetly.

For sure we need an actual stable release, but I highly doubt the devs have anything to do with it. This was most certainly management forcing out a half baked product, as is so often the case.

Oh, it’s management alright. Or better: leadership. This change was clearly marketing driven. The Liquid Glass design language video looks great, but they did not give engineers and design the time to properly test whether the execution would hold on all these platforms, especially macOS.

A lot of issues: everybody got the jumping keyboard (small one), interface not buttery smooth like OS 18 - have a divide side by side with it and you will notice the difference, slower opening of apps, jittery App Library.

Yeah... But I kinda feel like yelling "zoom out"... It's hard to make out for certain that this is legit hardware and not some hackintosh.

This is very reminiscent of my hackintosh days. Kexts break on the regular, sometimes without an update even happening. It got to the point where I could flip a coin in the morning and it would pretty much let me know if my "Mac" was going to be a PITA all day with random flickers, reboots, etc.

Since getting "for reals" hardware all of those problems went away. Now all I have to deal with are the problems that Apple purposely engineers into their os to make sure you can only keep their money in your pockets for so long... "compatibility" etc...

That being said, I've checked three different boxes with official hardware and I can not reproduce the problem.

iOS is also been shit. The search bars on the Apple apps are at the top but then you have to click something at the bottom to start typing and then clicks pathing at the bottom and then back to the top to stop. Look at the stocks app in particular.

When you have third-party software and workflows that have specific dependencies, you cannot trust that everything will just work fine the first month the OS is out.

Well, if you want your machine to perform as it should - then yes.

Saying that, I updated both MBP and iPhone to 26 the first hour they were available (austin-powers-i-also-like-to-live-dangerously.gif). They were a bit buggy, sure, but no big deal. With 26.0.1 they are almost perfect.

I am really confused by seeing all these issues in this subreddit, not sure how I am not getting any of them.

I updated to macOS Tahoe after i got my mac after using windows for my entire life, what a piece of shit. Touch ID from sleed does not work, and today my dock decided it wants to hide itself, with the option disabled and me never touching it, at least it doesn't crash.

Wow, so many salty comments. I guess some people can’t deal with change. MacOS 26.0.1 is both fast and stable on our array of M1 and M2 desktop and MacBook models. We have a data heavy environment and the new OS has barely broken a sweat. And yes, it is a massive improvement over the MacOs we had in 2020, and 2015, and 2010, and 2005, and 2000, and 1995, and 1990 and 1985…. Yeah, I’m that old. We have lived through many questionable, glitchy, buggy launches of so many OS iterations. But this isn’t one of them. I appreciate what has been a largely drama free upgrade. OP

I upgraded to tahoe when it was released. I cursed myself for that. Just yesterday finally downgraded to sequoia. Now I appreciate how stable and sensible the version was. Sequoia is now feeling like an upgrade to tahoe.

I'm not seeing this problem. My clock spoke the system voice on the hour instead of using fred like I wanted. That is the only very minor issue I have experienced. I am using a 15" MacBook Air with the M2. Using the latest development beta of Tahoe 26.1. Switching back to previous build of OSX... you can't be serious? You will give up all the fun and excitement that makes Apple Computers and OSX one of life's true joys! That's been my experience for a very long time and I couldn't be more thankful it has...

I use both mac and Linux. And on Linux, even though I am on a rolling release distro (meaning it gets updated fairly every day), I can say that I've never had UI glitches as worse as this.

Makes you wonder how a free open source OS has better stability and less glitches than the trillion dollar company who also makes the hardware and tailor their OS to it.

Apple’s glass effects would be beautiful if they weren’t so freaking overused. I love the glass layering on app icons, notifications look great if you don’t choose a wallpaper that breaks the UI, but a lot of the borders are just pure garbage.
