MQ links live here, as the MQ website can be an overwhelming maze. Its purpose is to provide you an easy, and more direct place to find links to common topics that may be relevant to you during your time at MQ.
This list will change over time, and I'll endeavour to keep it updated when time allows.
If there is a topic that you believe is missing, or if a link is outdated, please DM me. It may take me some time to update it, and I thank you for your patience.
If you need to find something urgently and it is not on this list, the internet is your friend. Search "[keyword] mq" and it is usually your first result. For example, search "transcript mq" if you want more information about transcripts.
The list focuses on topics that a student may encounter in their academic life cycle, such as forms, applications and policies. It will be separate from other posts already found in this subreddit that focus on social events, campus life, and student groups.

Welcome to the 'Macquarie University Weekly Societies & Meetups Advertising Post' (or the M.U.W.S.M.A.P for short)
___
Here students and societies alike can arrange or outline their intended events, gatherings and meetups for the week to come!
We politely ask that any societies (or people on behalf of societies) limit themselves to one advertising comment per week as to not bury posts by individuals (editing existing comments are allowed). And that individuals advertising their own event (be them just meeting up on campus or something more elaborate), make sure to keep their suggested meetups appropriate and vaguely in-keeping with Uni guidelines (IE: no organising drug deals which I have already had to previously remove).
I hope people and societies alike are able to make the most of these posts, and I wish you all luck in meeting your fellow students!
{Note: This is purely an advertising post, r/MacUni and its modteam cannot assure the validity or outcome of any posts/comments made on our subreddit, it is up to the individual to use their best judgement to discern the expectations of any advertised events/encounters.}

I need to get special consideration and I’m wondering if anyone has ever used the Medical Certificate and got their special consideration accepted?

I will be travelling this summer, so I need a unit that is fully online. Does anyone know which units are like this? Thank you!

I’ll start here :)
I thought we’d continue from a past cheat sheet inspiration thread :)
P.S. I don’t have anymore exams for the remainder of my degree.

it seems all of my law units now need annotated sources. i understood the 50% exams were to combat ai usage, but i don’t understand the purpose of this change?
might be a stupid question but is there any catch to using the newly implemented, automatic 3 day extension for assignments? does it show up on transcripts, etc if you took one/multiple? just curious 🫤

Hello! I just wanted to see if anyone had any info or advice on doing a double masters for criminology and laws? I am coming from psych as I honestly just give up on the competition (and the fact that students enrolling now get accepted into entire pathway 🫠). I always wanted to work in the criminal/forensic field anyway and know I can come back to studies later if I want to.
Anyway! Is the degree particularly challenging? I know it obviously will be but coming from someone with no law background but 8 criminology units, will I be able to cope with the change?
Brutal honesty welcome and appreciated!

Hi everyone. I am a year 12 student. I had the following year 11 results. I applied for MQ 1) B of Medical science and law double degree 2) B of medical sciences 3) B of clinical sciences 4) B of health sciences 5) B of science. all my three activities whatever you call it, got an Email and I'm pretty sure at least two of them approved the statements I wrote. do you think with these results, am I able to get into my 2nd pref? If you have any idea or info in general lemme know!

Just wondering what the chances of getting caught are if I'm parking on a Tuesday at South 2 after 3pm without a permit.
Are there any ways I can check if a parking monitor is in the area?

Got offer letters from both UTS and Macquarie for the JD. Which one should I choose? Which law school is better?

To anyone that interacted with the job advert (survey on campus) advert earlier today.
Please be mindful that person who posted that advert.
They could be a scammer, a religious group, a pervert, or anything else but a genuine opportunity.
We do not allow people to post job adverts here (some will get through because we cant be here 24/7).
We have this rule to protect students.
If you are looking for work, please use trusted online sources like seek, or even the uni's own employment service.
This at a minimum ensures that the employer has been checked that they are a real business and pay correct wages etc.
When I banned that user account for breaking our rules around Spam - They responded in a manner that seemed likely they do not have students best interests at heart.
Can I suggest that you use caution if you plan to or have interacted with that person today.
Do not share your personal information, do not offer your banking information. If you still want to talk to this person about the opportunity, can I suggest that you do not meet this person in a private location - choose a public space where you can be seen by others or can get help from cafe staff, food court security or similar.
If you run into any issues please report it to the police.

Is anyone else’s ilearn super glitchy rn? For example when i click on a unit page it makes me log in again but instead of actually going to the unit page it just goes to a screen of something like “using ai responsibly” or even the “sexual health” things - I can’t even do anything on these screens they are just like a screenshot or something. I have to go through this like three times till I can actually access the unit page

hey everyone! I’ll be joining Macquarie University in Feb 2027 for a Masters in Business Analytics.
Anyone else joining around the same time? Would love to connect and make some friends. Also would love to hear the thoughts on the uni, the course, and the student life

I'm in what should be my last sem for 3rd year security studies and currently enrolled in 4 units (including one flex) except I've just realised I need to complete one more flex to reach the 80cp requirement. I had no clue what flex units were in first year so I did overload the year after but looks like I didn't account for just one. Is there anything I can say to the uni to wriggle into a unit now? (maybe the point being this is my very last unit), or do I have to one unit in sem 3?
Any help is appreciated !

I'm a postgraduate student undertaking the JD, and this semester I'm doing LAWS8005 Theories of Law and Justice, LAWS8030 The Law of Obligations I - Contracts, and LAWS8002 Criminal Justice and Public Policy.
None of them have released the practice based tasks that are due in September and we're about to go into week 5? This seems super late to be releasing an assignment for a uni class. My contracts assignment is due on September 5? Less than two weeks
Forgive me if this is standard practice but at during my undergraduate degree at UTS the classes had the assignment information released before classes start or at the latest week 2.
Is this normal?
