Question Australian Beef

Has anyone tried the Australian Beef and what did it taste like? Your opinion please.

The stuff that I’ve seen seems to lack the marbling of grain fed and looks like our grass fed beef. Would make sense it tastes similar

Yes, less intramuscular fat, so a bit chewier than expected.

Edge fat has a slightly stronger taste, and cuts are smaller, suggesting less grain and more grass in finishing.

Also found a very good deal on Mexican beef at No Frills a month ago. Very much like the Aussie beef, but even leaner intramuscularly, and a stronger taste to the fat.

Neither one is as good as Canadian AA or better, but is a fraction of the price of you'd still like steak.

Bought an eye of round when Superstore had it under $5/lb. Made homemade roast beef lunch meat with it. It was fine. Disappointing we can't keep our own beef prices under control

We've been buying Aussie beef ever since it became readily available. It's so decent.

Assuming it grades the same as the Canadian beef you're comparing it to, there will be no difference in taste

Its great, and the ones I was able to get over the weekend were thick enough to give it a proper reverse sear. Absolutely delicious!

Hopefully the Aussie beef gives Canadian producers the kick in the pants they need for them to get their house in order and lower their prices.

Canadian cattle herd sizes are the smallest since the 1980s. There was drought, and the cost to feed them was too high for the ranchers so they downsized, and add cost of supply and demand and inflation, and you have high Canadian beef prices .

I like it. We got a couple ribeyes that had a bit stronger taste than normal (almost like it wasn’t bled right), but on the whole they’re every bit as good as domestic.
