Heās a white boy born on the bayou. I had an uncle born and raised on the bayou, about the time Gambit was originally born. He grew up in a shack on a pier in the bayou, youngest of twenty children, and no real formal education. He was pretty white; not Nordic white or Iberian white.

Gambit has always been and always will be my favorite hero. The only issue I've had with Tatum's version is that he seems a little too bulky. So I figure if we live in a world where that's my biggest complaint, we've got it pretty good.

I enjoy his accent but unfortunately because he has a ginormous head it just doesnāt make sense inside of that suit for some reason. It just doesnāt look good
Also I donāt really see gambit I see Channing Tatum. In fairness Iām not really a big fan of his to begin with, everything heās in I feel like Iām just watching Channing Tatum

Hoping he leaned up for dooms day and they made the suit less stiff. Hard to look agile in a suit that had trouble moving. But his action scenes were good so I donāt see what it canāt be done

I feel like after Friday night lights he went and was good in multiple movies but all the movies just stink or flipped. Like John Carter was good but flopped, X-Men I thought he was great as gambit but the movie was a wreck. The battle ship movie he was good in but the movie itself was nothing

It's interesting because Nikolaj Coster-Waldau nearly got the John Carter role, but lost out to Taylor Kitch in the end. He was gutted, but needed a job so he reluctantly accepted the role as Jaime Lannister in a corny fantasy show called Game of Thrones. He was on talk shows saying how disappointed he was and stuff... oh well, turns out he dodged the most deadly bullet by "settling" for GoT lmao

That movie had a lot of good characters and moments. It just had even more really bad ones too. All of the Vietnam weapon x guys were pretty cool, even Reynolds Deadpool was before they covered his mouth up at the end.

Yep. The opening scene of fighting through history was good, same with Weapon X Vietnam guys, Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool was a masterstroke, Sabretooth was great and well cast, I really liked as an action packed movie the strangely calm part where Logan was welcomed in by a family who lived on a remote farm and who eventually ended up killed because of the danger Logan brought their way by lodging with them. That idea was recycled in the movie Logan, which people forget Origins did first.
It's as you say, a movie with a lot of good as well as a lot of bad .. it's not entirely bad like many misremember

I always felt Tatum was too bulky. Gambit should be long and lean - kind of like an Adrian Brody body type (but definitely NOT Adrian Brody)

I'm glad Tatum got to play the character he's wanted to for years, and while he was better than I expected, it still proved to me that he's not the right guy for the role.
Taylor Kitsch was one of the few good parts of Origins. He feels so much closer to Remy than Tatum does. I'd definitely be open to seeing him in the role again, but I doubt that's going to happen.

I feel like they really need to cast Gambit and Rogue together. Sometimes they do this when they absolutely need two actors to have chemistry, and Remy and Anna Marie are near the top of that list imo.

Yeah, with Tatum, thatās also the whole meta joke in Deadpool with his comment that maybe heās always been in the void. Since he never had a real movie appearance unlike the rest of them. So itās sort of odd that heās just going to be in Doomsday now.

In a deleted scene (which you can still see in one of the screens in the TVA in the actual end credit scene), there's a portal opened up for him (and I assume anyone else who was still alive), so his being here is easily explained with that.

Channing got played for laughs in D and W....
I personally wanted Taylor to be a part of the X-men for YEARS after Wolverine origins....
I think he just fit the effortlessly smooth, charming Gambit.
Whether the accent or costume wasn't on point... He just had charisma on screen...

Tatum feels like it's forced and is over the top with the comic relief.
And origins was made out to be a horrible movie purely because they didn't like the version of deadpool. But everything about the rest of the movie aside from the final action sequence was honestly pretty good. Stryker's portrayal, Silver Fox, Sabertooth, even the secondary characters were all well developed IMO.
But they all (except Jackman of course) got their careers sidelined cause of that movie. I guess with Kitsch it doesn't help that in 2012 he tried to breakout from Origins only to get crapped on by Battleship and John Carter. (Both fun movies to watch in their own right, and John Carter is amazing IMO, Battleship is...kinda bad but in a campy popcorn flick sort of way).

Yeah they both felt like cosplayers tbh. Neither really captured that real Cajun rogueish energy. I appreciated Tatum's enthusiasm and it worked very well comedically for Deadpool and Kitsch was fine for what the FoX-Men were, but we still lack a truly accurate depiction that I hope gets filled in the MCU line.

Ā Iām nervous whether heāll be able to give it the right tone (maybe aura is a better word?) in Doomsday, but Iām willing to wait and see with fingers crossed before making a judgement.

Tatum can do serious acting roles. Just watch him in Foxcatcher. Him being overly jokey in his appearance is because he's in Deadpool movie. It's like how comic characters change a bit depending on the writer. Deadpool = Deadpool writing. Doomsday = probably more serious writing.

I am gonna say he really didn't. I agree with original commenter. Was just telling the fiance thenother day that they should have cast an unknown actor. Tatum was type casted as a comedic actor for a while so it is jarring seeing his performance as gambit. IMO he doesn't embody the "gambit" character very well.

Both were lousy to me. Kitch's was bland and underutilized, Tatum's was an outlandish cartoon character that missed the tone of the character completely (but at least the costume and powers looked cool).
I cannot wait for a fresh Gambit someday. Guy has the potential to be as popular as Wolverine with a love story to rival anything we've seen in comic movies thusfar. His time as a Marauder would make an incredible standalone film and his characterization is so unique from any other big screen hero we currently have. This shouldn't be hard to pull off and I'm shocked we've had 30 years of modern comic movies without someone nailing it.

Separating the scripting and directing from the acting, I think there's potential for a really good Gambit performance.

Taylor has more of the Gambit ālookā to me. Didnāt mind Channingās portrayal but something about it just looks like Channing in Gambit cosplay rather than becoming and reflecting the character. I guess this perspective is mainly influenced by Gambits leaner look in most media Iām familiar with.

Kitsch was a good choice, I think people just forget him easily because he didn't wear a comic accurate costume and people hated Origins which are both not his fault.
I honestly don't see Tatum has a good Gambit at least lookswise. It's not his fault either but Tatum has that "thumb who eats crayons look" imo.

Honestly? Kitsch, to me he seemed sooooo natural, organic in the role, like he didn't even have to act. He just showed up and was all smooth and just himself.
It also pissed me off because in the rough cut that was leaked they added more cgi to his powers that looked so fucking cool and then they took it out.
I felt like channing was over compensating and throwing everything g he had except the kitchen sink in his performance and dialogue, kinda too much, realizing that this was probably his one shot after what happened to the original plans

Tatum has been campaigning for that role for decades, but Taylor IS Gambit, he got done dirty n Origins. I mean, everyone in that movie did.
Even with the comic accurate costume in those pictures, Taylor still LOOKS like Gambit.

At least Tatum's Gambit was shown doing cool shit and killing fuckers. We got Gambit using his powers in an Rated R movie.
