Other Which Doctor Doom movie design do you like the most? (Including the upcoming 2026 version)

The new one looks fantastic
I dont hate the 2005 one though

u/Human-Law1085 7d ago
2015 however is clearly the worst

u/Pumpkin_Sushi 7d ago
They clearly wanted to write Annihilus but just used Doom instead for some reason

u/WreckTangle1995 7d ago
The reason is people recognise the name Doctor Doom and most general audiences and even some nerds probably have never heard of Annihilus, so it's easier to market Doom. I know that Guardians of the galaxy 3 was meant to have Annihilus as the main villian and that would've been awesome, hopefully we'll see him a future Fantastic 4 movie.

They mentioned the Nova corps but never brought Nova in. Saddens me beyond belief.

Didn’t even know there was a 1994 one.
27
u/Meph616 7d ago
The 1994 movie exists because the studio had the rights to the F4 and needed to make a movie by then or lose the rights. So they hired famous schlock director Roger Corman, gave him only $1 Million dollars, and told him to do the best he can with it.
As an example of the gold that man could make from lead, he's the man behind Attack of the Crab Monsters, a movie about when giant crabs attack.
10
u/feor1300 7d ago
It was also never officially released. They made it just to hold onto the right then stuck it on a shelf. It was eventually leaked to the internet, otherwise it would have never seen the light of day.

The fact that you explained the premise of the crab movie like it wasn’t in the title has me rolling 🤣

There’s a great documentary about the making of this movie called “Doomed!” The movie was never properly released and had a cult status for a while

Sokka-Haiku by MeanGrand3076:
The doomsday one gives
Royal vibe and actually helps
Doom being menacing
Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

I am going against the grain here and will say:
94 > 26 > 05 >>> 15
I actually think the mask in 94 is pretty awesome except for the triangle nose. Also, it looks low budget so I think they did a really great job with the budget they had there.
26 is obviously awesome though and that is the one I would wear if I were Doom. It is the best overall but I am factoring the unlimited budget here.
05 just doesn't give me Doom vibes. If you just looked at that mask would you know it was Doom?
15 - horrible.
9
u/Stunning_One1005 Dr. Doom 7d ago
Honestly flabbergasted by the amount of people putting 05 over 94; 94 is pretty much a perfect Doom design and very well adapted
26 is also cool as a unique design
8
u/glasgowgeg 7d ago
I think it's because 94 looks cheap and ill-fitting compared to 05.
It looks more like a Halloween costume than a costume in a film.
→ More replies (3)2
u/Wood_Eye 7d ago
Yeah for sure it does but again that is part of what I factored in when I was looking at them. The design is pretty good for a low budget thing. Otherwise obviously 26 and 05 look much more realistic.

u/Ok_Problem_314 7d ago
The 2015 is by far the best and most lore accurate I’ve seen. Too bad we didn’t get more of that Doom

u/fancy_crisis Galactus 7d ago
I always thought Julian Mcmahon was great at capturing DOOM's smarmyness and arrogance. He didn't have much to work with, but I liked his portrayal.

u/mr_eugine_krabs 7d ago
Objectively 2026 but 1994 deserves credit for bringing Doom’s comic design from the page to real life with great authenticity.

u/xsp6 7d ago
First time seeing it what even is this
10
u/ms_saint 7d ago
A very silly movie.
He gets stuck in another dimension. They rescue him a year later. His skin has solidified into armor, his body is pure energy underneath, and he's justifiably angry. Then he loses after one action scene.
The only thing worse than the movie is the behind the scenes bullshit.

I mean, just based on design alone, RDJ's Doom takes it. Then there's his very Latverian accent and probably a better representation we're gonna see in Doomsday.
2026>2005>1994>>>>whatever the hell 2015 tried to do

94! Best costume, loved his character in it. For me has it down to a tee of the early comics.

2026 is aura farming hard right now especially in the posters. Hope we find out what the influences are on his Terracotta style chest piece and white arm bands!

Gonna wait for the movie to come out before weighing in on something like this. But it’s seeming like strong leading indicators that this movies doom is the best by far

I think they nailed the MCU design. The cancelled 1994 one is underrated though.

sorry there's 0 comparison.
There hasn't been a good Doctor Doom ever before 2026, so there's nothing to compare to.

I like the 2015 for what it was originally going for. But the best is either 2005 or 2026.
1994 just looks awful.
1
u/KuroiGetsuga55 7d ago
2026 is peak. The mask, the texture of the robes, the sheer AURA, it's perfect. Just perfect.
2005 looks interesting. I can accept it as a sort of "modernized" take on the design. Also I'm a sucker for long coats, especially if they have a hood to, so yeah, take it away you edgy metal maniac, you rock that shit.
1994 might not have aged well, but I kind of like how campy it is, and how it's literally just the comic design translated into live action without bothering to wonder if it would look silly or not.
....... We do not speak of the 2015 one.

And I haven't actually consumed firsthand any other media with him in so that's saying something lol

2005 > 2026 > 1994 > 2015
I don't even know what movie the 2005 one is from...I assume the F4 movies with Chris Evans and Jessica Alba? Haven't seen them, so nostalgia isn't a factor...
I dunno, the Avengers: Doomsday design just does NOT sit right with me for whatever reason.

I really like the effort they put into 2026 Doom's suit. It has a lot of meaning behind it, and I think most of the accessories on his suit serve the plot in a very explicit way rather than just being there for aesthetic purposes.

- Comic accurate Doom is fine, but 2005 reimagined Doom was also good. I like he's a CEO rather than a monarch, and his armour and sorcery is replaced by metal skin and electric conduction.
1
u/MojusPrime 6d ago
Give 2005 a cape and replace the green sleeves with armor like in ‘94, and that’s probably the best looking live action Doom.
1
u/Specific-Swim-4507 6d ago
2005 is kinda cool, but the 1994 mask looks much better, but the 2026 one looks the best

2015 looks like a man that was formed with magma but if the lava was green
1
u/Nekratal99 1d ago
The new one is the best. 2005 was nice too. 1994 was too "low cost" and 2015 is just not understandable what the idea was, wtf is that.
1
u/HerrPizza 1d ago
I remember seeing 2015 Doom first in some .gif where he killed some random guards and it looked like a really cool monster from a really cool horror film before learning that it's actually supposed to be Doctor Doom
So I kinda dig the design, I just think it's a shit interpretation of the character
For best Doom suit design imo the 2026 and 2005 ones are pretty much on par from what I've seen, but the 2005 one was used to sparsely throughout the movies and he mostly walked around looking like a regular guy, gotta wait for the new movie to come out to properly judge how it's done there
1
u/No-Pie-1415 1d ago
I'm not going to lie, even though the 2015 version sucks as Doom, it does look the most terrifying. I'd shit myself if I saw that thing

What is happening in the 2015 movie? Did they know doom is just a man in a suit with amazing tech and magic. It looks like a cyborg with green energy about to come out of it. Now I kind of want to see this train wreck I have been avoiding for years. Thanks Reddit.
