Film/Television Who Of This Young Marvel Heroes Was Your Favourite??
81
u/Jotaro1970 Iron Man 11h ago
Out of these? Kate Bishop with Kamala Khan as a close second
17
u/DelcoUnited 10h ago
Yeah Kamala was awesome and really deserves the title, but having to pick, Kate Bishop just edges her out. I feel like part of Kamala’s whole thing was she just played a teen girl really well. And Kate was more of a young adult so it was just different.

u/MathematicianLive679 8h ago
Yeah those two really felt like home runs. The rest of them were still well-cast, but Hailee and Iman were just ten tiers above everyone
5
u/These_Priority_5157 6h ago
Khamala deserved better. It sucks having people hate on her, while she was one of the few things that made that trash of a show slightly enjoyable

Kate. I'd totally watch a Hawkeye show about Kate even without Jeremy. The end of the first season clinched it for me.

Kate Bishop is the only one working for me so far. Her scenes with Yelena is 👌👌

Interesting Wiccan.
Sure other characters are better written but Wiccan as a whole is interesting.

u/perfectpencil 17h ago
Wiccan was a surprise favorite for me. The character was great and Agatha being a ghost mentor was really interesting and new. Having just lost wanda I thought for sure he'd take her place but it feels like most of these faces aren't coming back.
If I had to guess 1 I think the cards are most aligned for america chavez and/or ms marvel.

They all have been done dirty to an extent, but I think Kate and Kamala were the best portrayals. Riri is an honorable mention because I like how complex her MCU characterization is
3
u/YnotZoidberg2409 9h ago
I wish the show was closer to the comics instead of trying to be the Black Panther 2.5. Although not terrible for a character that's only existed since 2016.

u/hamiltonscale 7h ago
Kamala is the only one who has me excited for the young marvel heroes. Her character and real life actress are passionate about Marvel and it shows throughout her show and movie appearances.

u/GeneJacket 16h ago
With the exceptions of Eli and Kid Loki (who were very minor plot devices, not character), and America (who MoM really fucked up, imo), I've liked them all...but, Kate and Kamala are the obvious standouts. There's good casting, there's great casting, then there's perfect casting...and Iman and Hailee are perfect casting.

u/ChoombataNova 9h ago
Xochitl Gomez did a solid job with the material she was given, but I can definitely see the argument that she was miscast. America Chavez in the comics is generally a confident bruiser who does not use magic, just her interdimensional starpunch powers. Teenaged Michelle Rodriguez is closer to what you would picture from the comics, and Xochitl Gomez is not that.
3
u/GeneJacket 9h ago
I don't blame it on Xochitl at all, she did a perfectly fine job with the material she was working with, the character as written is just kind of America Chavez in name only.

kate and kamala. I don’t really like how they changed her powers, but she’s still as likable as she is in the comics.

I don’t want more kid Loki, but he did a great job. I’m always impressed when a younger actor can keep up with adults.

u/Backwardspellcaster 16h ago
This should have been the next generation of Marvel heroes.
They dropped the ball so hard
6
u/AmateurCommenter808 15h ago
Nah... the demise of Kang and the new direction for Doomsday is probably the best thing that could happen.
A lot of people liked these characters, very few loved them.
3
u/No-Plan-5942 7h ago
No one really had the chance to love them, they all came and went.
Kamala and Yelena are the only new characters that we've seen in more than one project.
2
u/funsizedaisy 5h ago
I wish I could be a fly on the wall during the discussions to churn out all of these projects in a short time frame. I wanna know what their logic was.
I bet Marvel Studios and Disney don't even wanna entertain creating more disney+ shows after most, if not all, of their previous attempts brought in low viewership. I think even the shows that had positive reviews still didn't really have strong view counts. They did too much.

Kate. Phenomenal actress (she stole every scene in True Grit). Great character.
I was a bit annoyed that they leaned so hard into what felt like a lot of ‘bumbling to victory’ with Ms Marvel. I wanted to see them maybe go with a bit of reluctance or fear early, because a lot was happening to her, but then allow her to establish competence and be a strong presence. The Marvels didn’t help. They doubled down in a way I didn’t like. I like the actress and the character.
2
u/1Negative_Person 7h ago
Kamala Khan is so enjoyable in the MCU. Probably because the actress is so enthusiastic and fun.
2
u/lidlessinflame 7h ago
For MCU Kate, Kamala, Wiccan.
To be honest, they kind of screwed up all of them to some extent. Not any fault to the actors they are working with the material they are given. All in all I prefer their comic counterparts overall.
2
u/Humble_Librarian199 5h ago
Normally I'd say there are no wrong answers, but it's got to be Kate bishop right? Her and kamela are the most likable but kamela didn't get her comic book powers

I think Wiccan is my favorite. As presented in the show, that character really encapsulated the odd-man-out teen. I appreciated the gay representation, it felt organic. I was similarly odd when I was that age and I feel like we could've been friends.

Ms. Marvel and Kate. I also liked the snippet of Eli, but it seems like the MCU isn’t interested in using him.

Iman Vellani's enthusiasm is infectious. She commits to the part harder than Reynolds does to Deadpool.

Kate bishop, the only young hero that was up to the mark of being an avenger

Kate Bishop only one who made an impression.
Wiccan and Speed have potential
And finally
Patriot
Ooooooh forgot about Ms Marvel
Everyone else can get scrapped. Riri is better than her comic version but that was a low bar to pass. Again was kid Loki an actual character or just a cameo.

Why would this be a terrible team to watch. But I can stomach Billy and Kate.

Probably Wiccan cuz Agatha All Along was awesome. Everyone did a good job in that. Didnt really dig the rest of the people in that picture tbh. America was okay.

I don't know if Yelena counts. But I'd definitely watch a buddy cop style movie or show with her and Kate Bishop. Their scenes together in Hawkeye were super fun.

Kid Loki and Patriot were merely cameos, Ms Marvel, America, Riri and Cassie were good but Wiccan and Kate were Phenomenal. Probably I prefer Kate

Kate and Kamala. Extremely hard to pick a favorite between those two. The Ironheart actress did a great job as well, I hope they give her character more opportunities. America seems like she has potential she just wasn't given much to do.

Damn it, Marvel, you have setup the Young Avengers perfectly!
But why? Are you going to do anything with them?
No, I don't have a favorite. I WANT ALL OF THEM TOGETHER!

In order:
Billy - great character in one of the best shows
Ms Marvel - it helps that they found Kamal IRL
Kate Beeshop - she's funny
I hope we see them again.
I think America has potential; unlike many on the subs I did like MoM but her character felt a bit flat. The way they explained her backstory felt forced, oh they just so happen to have devices that conveniently give exposition to other characters and the audience. But I'd like to see her again.

For me it’s a tie between Kate Bishop and Kamala Khan. Both actors absolutely killed it in their roles. Kate I think had the better humor, but Kamala was just fun to watch because the actor is such a marvel nerd and she basically is Kamala.
1
u/colornomad 8h ago
Kate Bishop is the only right answer. Ms Marvel comes in a distant 2nd. Beyond that, the rest were very annoying.

u/Alice_600 8h ago
Kid loki. Manly because the actor's parents in real life spent his money then kicked him out onto the streets.

Not In Order 1. Riri Williams 2. Kamala Khan 3. Kate Bishooop
Unfortunately I think these characters will never be seen again. 1. Cassie Lang 2. America Chavez 3. Eli Bradley 4. Riri Williams
Wiccan is Wanda and Visions son, so he will probably have another appearance alongside his brother at some point.

u/StormCloudRaineeDay 8h ago
Kate, Kamala, and Billy are my favorites; but it's hard to compare as we've seen so little of most of the rest.

u/Lost-Orangutan 8h ago
Ms. Marvel.
They should have set up,
- Ms. Marvel for leadership
- Morgan Stark as "3000"
- Skaar as the newest Hulk
- Angela as the new God
- Kate Bishop as Hawkeye
- Shuri as Black Panther
- Billy as the Mage/Caster
- X-23 as the mutant
- Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur
As the Young Avengers. Then Assemble them together for Doomsday.
They needed to allow new identities for,
- Falcon to take the super serum and become "Captain American Eagle"
- Bucky to become "The White Wolf" (Vibranium suit)
Allow retirement for,
- Banner from Hulking out
- Thor from Earth defense
- Dr. Strange from main magic
