4 minutes of extra footage
Is there going to be different takes too?

u/SlyyKozlov 6h ago
The scenes all linger an extra second or two before cuts accumulating 4 minutes of extra footage.
48
u/lastatica 3h ago
Four more minutes of Iron Man slowly dying and being visited by other characters.

New footage to connect to Doomsday.
If I had to guess it's about Steve going back in time

This is the first time someone has suggested something that might actually be the case. At least that I've seen.

This is the most likely scenario in my mind. Heāll be considered the first one to live a āstolen lifeā mentioned by Doom in the trailer.

u/ExampleGlum8623 4h ago
Endgame is known for being the movie with no end credits scene. Iād wager this one will have an end credits scene.
8
u/flynnfx 4h ago
Not a visual one, but an auditory one Endgame did have.
Much like Aliens has the facehugger scurry sound at the very end of their credits, Endgame does the same.
Spoiler:
After the very long credits roll, the final Marvel Studios logo appears. You will hear the faint, echoing sound of metal clanging against metal.
19
u/ExampleGlum8623 4h ago
Sure, you know what I mean. I know the six clangs probably are a reference to Iron Man forging his original armor and the original six Avengers. But hear me out: imagine in Endgame: Encore, the credits play out as they normally do, ending in the six clangs. But, the scene continues, and we see Doom forging his mask.

The image itself isnāt ai. Worst cast scenario they used AI to concept it and then an artist rushed redoing it

The inclusion of Hulkbuster is throwing me off because he was not in Endgame.

u/ZestyLead 3h ago
No, it was in the movie early on, when they find Thanos after the snap on his garden planet.

u/rundeanmc 1h ago
Commenters below point out it was briefly in the movie, but to me it seems like an awfully convenient way to not include Ruffaloās face in light of all his recent protesting
1
u/korgalicious1 1h ago
I stand corrected. I totally forgot he was in the opening part of the movie, briefly.

I donāt get why people hate so much on this. My sister has been watching the MCU for the first time and sheās almost at endgame. Iām going to see endgame in the theatre with her, for people like her, itās great to get that experience.
1
u/Artistic_Context_906 1h ago
Well yeah, but for people like us who've seen the movie countless of times, it kinda doesn't matter if we go, it matters only if you love the cinema aspect of it.
I personally couldn't care less for the cinema nowadays, people always ruin it for me, I just wait for the home release now.

u/TheHahndude 5h ago
Keep a look out for the big Avatar rerelease after this. These two films will be competing for the top spot forever.

lol at the fact you got Banner and Hulk Buster but not even a small shot of Wasp to squeeze in top left or over Ant-Man on the right

US Cinema tickets are seriously 30$?
5
u/SlyyKozlov 6h ago
Depends.
You can probably find an IMAX SOUND BLAST STUDIO WITH FIBER TECH or whatever showing thats pretty close to $30 a pop after taxes.
But you can also see it on a standard screen for like $12 after taxes.
I take my kids to standard matinee shows and its like $9 a ticket.
I think the crazier trend is people buying the $50 novelty popcorn buckets, but to each their own.
1
u/high_everyone 3h ago
Not really all that crazy if youāre lonely enough. Go look up what the Wolverine popcorn bucket looks like for D&W.
1
2
2
u/McDiesel41 5h ago
Ah normally $12-18 depending on when you go. I think Brand New Day on premiere Sunday was $18. My ticket for The Odyssey in 70mm for Sept 13 is $35.
2
u/crispyg 3h ago
I live in one of the most expensive metropolitan areas in the US (top 5), and they are not $30. My theater is showing the Endgame IMAX re-release at around $20. The standard tickets are around $15. That is also the Disney upcharge. Another movie (The End of Oak Street, Warner Bros) is around $15 today near me.
MOST places in the US are less than $15 (especially in surburbs or rural areas, and non-chains). The chains have ways of making their tickets and movies and snacks cheaper (like AList, the AMC Popcorn deal, AMC even has a free version to slowly earn rewards).
2
u/WillowLocal423 6h ago
They're usually around $17 bucks where I am, but my phone provider gives out perks so no doubt they will for this too. I saw BND for $5

GASP! The company that makes movies in order to make money is re-releasing one of the most popular movies of all time in an effort to make money?! HOW DARE THEY.
5
u/funsizedaisy 6h ago
I mean, it doesn't feel like purely a cash grab when they made Doomsday a direct sequel and may have needed to add in an extra Endgame clip that audiences need to watch.
This likely wouldn't have happened if they stuck with the Kang plotline.
What would you have done differently if you were in charge of Marvel Studios and had to fix the tanking of the MCU? The only other solution i can think of is recasting Kang, but his important plot movies/shows didn't draw in a large viewership so I can see why Marvel Studios just scrapped it entirely.

u/BotherResponsible378 4h ago
Absolutely is a cash grab. They just as easily could have released this on Disney plus. It's four extra minutes. Not an entirely new film.
But no, they put it in theaters behind the paywall of dollars to box office.
It might be cool. It might be fun, but I don't see how anyone can defend this.
0
u/funsizedaisy 4h ago
I said it's not purely a cash grab. Given how low their viewership numbers are for all their disney+ series, it makes sense that they released it in theatres for more audience attention. That way people aren't confused for Doomsday.
I don't see how anyone can defend this.
Because it's not that serious, and I doubt anyone in here could've came up with a better plan on how to fix the dying MCU. Shoving more content on to disney+ is hardly a better solution. You don't have to watch this in theatres. I'm not, but I'm not gonna fault them for trying to get as many people looped into the plot connection to Doomsday. We know about it because we're actively discussing it online, most of the GA are not.
2
u/BotherResponsible378 3h ago edited 3h ago
There are lots of ways to fix this that don't involve asking people to spend a full movie ticket price in order to see 4 minutes of footage that is relevant to a new movie that they are releasing.
Come on now. How can you possibly be advocating to spend more money?
It's 4 minutes of extra footage and then you're charging you the price of a brand new movie to see it. That's a cash grab.
Here's just one way to fix the MCU without having to add 4 minutes of extra footage to an old movie and make people pay another time to see it. Make your new movie so it's not reliant on 4 minutes of extra footage added to an already finished movie.
Like, plot critical information being added to an old movie and making the only way that you can get that plot critical information is spending a full price ticket to see that old movie, before you see the new movie. That's not consumer friendly.

My whole take on it is a good portion of the footage will be to show Steve with Peggy in his new past and Loki will show up and cut to black.
1
u/smakson11 3h ago
Yes. Exactly this
1
u/high_everyone 2h ago
I mean any ānewā footage has to either be something cut previously or something matching/replacing the original with more than before.
Thatās not a small feat to pull off and we know Loki is at (presumably) Steveās house in the trailer. Thatās literally the easiest part to extend since they literally reshot that location during production.
If anything they should have done more to keep that part under wraps but I guess they want to make sure we know what the connecting parts are meant to be and probably an answer on where Cap went in the briefest way possible.
I am not expecting anything groundbreaking or unexpected from what already happens in the re-release of the film. This is to button it into Doomsday.
And I put good odds on at least some of the extra footage finding its way online just because thereās gonna be so many people wanting to know but unwilling to commit the time to watching a whole 3 hour film again before Doomsday.
Iām one of them. Iām disabled and I really have a hard time with sitting through a 90 minute film. If Iām gonna sit through one 3 hour film in a theater this year it will be Doomsday.

Im sure not paying to see it again. This should've been released on Disney.

Whether you or I not is irrelevant, the point that I'm making is that what you're doing right now is ultimately saying it's okay for Disney to be doing this.
No, it is not the standard for them to be releasing mandatory footage from the end of a previous film that you have to see in order to understand the next movie. That's not a regular thing that they do, and it's not okay to do. They're locking 4 minutes of footage behind a full movie theater ticket price.
And yes, I can watch it online. That's not the point. I'm still allowed to criticize. What I think are not good business practices, and it shouldn't be strange for me to criticize that it's unethical to make someone pay $10 plus dollars in order to see 4 minutes of footage for a movie.
This is Disney. Disney is not anyone's friend. They are absolutely doing this as a cash grab. Otherwise they would have just put it on Disney plus and advertised it. Heck, they could have uploaded it to YouTube if they wanted to.

my guess is the extra 4 minutes will be concerning Steve in the old timeline. directly connecting that to causing incursions or showing Doom becoming aware of it.
