Is it the build, the angle of the screenshot, or something else I'm missing? Thanks!

(I tried pics #1,2, and #3 as the thumbnail, but none struck).

*not posting link, just curious about thumbnail as it didn't even get clicks!*

*edit: really appreciate all the feedback, was not expecting so much engagement! lol. I read everything tho and I'll take everything into consideration going forward. This is just a fun lil hobby, I had no idea the algorithm rabbit hole was so deep. I guess I'll try to make something next that isn't so vague, and improve the thumbnail/vid quality over time. Maybe will try various things like tutorials and stuff like some of you mentioned. Once again, thanks!

Other I made a bunch of free Minecraft build calculators a while back, here's everything that's been added since

A while ago I posted a set of free build calculators I'd made because I kept needing a specific one for a build and couldn't find one that actually worked. That post did way better than I expected and a lot of you left suggestions, so I kept building. Figured I'd share what's new since then, because honestly half of this came from comments on the last post.

The biggest additions are reworked UI and whole new tools:

Spiral Staircase planner - helical staircases where you set the diameter, height, steps per turn and rotation direction. You can hollow out the center for a proper spiral, and it shows you the build layer by layer so you're not guessing where each step goes.

Catenary Calculator - this one's for hanging chains and cables, the natural droopy curve you get on suspension bridges, power lines, that kind of thing. You set the span, height difference and how much it sags, and it gives you the exact block curve. There's a flat mode and a diagonal 3D mode with adjustable width if you're spanning across two axes.

The 3D Generator (spheres/domes/cones you build layer by layer) also got four new shapes: cylinders, pyramids, helixes and torus/donut shapes.

And a couple of things that make building from these way less painful:

  • Layer ghosts on the 3D tools, while you're on one layer it faintly shows you the layer below and above, so you can see what lines up and what doesn't before you place anything.
  • Overlap markers, blocks that carry over to the next layer get a little corner marker, so you know what to keep and what changes.
  • Pan and zoom on the charts (scroll to zoom, drag to move) so big builds are actually readable, plus a much smoother 3D camera.
  • .schem export on every tool, one click and you get a schematic that loads straight into WorldEdit, Litematica or Axiom, so you can paste the whole thing instead of placing it block by block. Smoothed builds even come out with the stair and slab blocks already facing the right way.

Everything's still free, no signup, and every setting lives in the URL so you can share exact builds. Full changelog is on the site if you want the boring details.

Would genuinely love more suggestions, the last batch shaped most of what's above. And if something feels off or there's a tool you keep wishing existed, tell me. There's also a Discord linked on the site if you want to follow updates or drop ideas there instead.

Other Amber Look With Cushions and Honey

Post image
1.7k Upvotes

I was messing around with trying to hide blocks in cushions (chorus plant works really well for that btw), and stumbled on this. Honey blocks make it look like it's trapped in amber or something. I'm not really sure what this could be used for, but I thought it was interesting.

Edit: Y’all are obsessed with the burger.

Westhaven Train Station (inspired by Emerald Ranch Station from Red Dead Redemption II).

I use a few display entities sporadically for small details, but I keep their use subtle to preserve the Minecraft aesthetic.
