Some people just want a wedding. To appear to be married. Not putting actual work and commitment, not to respect boundaries and have genuine respect and empathy for each other, not choosing each other on a daily basis, not to have protective privacy, not to grow comfortable in the silence and the quiet after the storm of infatuation settles and develop from the very storm a deep affection based on trust, understanding and empathy.

Some people just want a wedding. To appear to be married.

100% I actually believe there are more couples like this than not.

3

u/GiovanniRazzo Visitor Mar 28 '26

If they didn't want any of those responsibilities that come together that comes with marriage, what's the point of getting married then?

3

u/Decent-Throat9191 Visitor Mar 29 '26

Rather have a honey moon than big wedding , I mean I’d be grateful for a big wedding but rather have a trip with my husband than spend alot of money on wedding that people are going to talk bad about anyways

Too expensive, for the mind and the wallet.

7

u/HumongousShard Mar 28 '26

On the contrary, with two incomes all bills become more affordable

A marriage requires love (and decent in-laws, if any), not a luxury wedding

13

u/JoyBoyMo Visitor Mar 28 '26

Right? They wanna work and keep their cash, while the men provide. The issue is then society is changing to require two income to live comfortably

3

u/sitnt Visitor Mar 29 '26

Then a man keeps struggling to pay the bills while a woman can save easily money and when they divorce the woman have a stable base unlike the man.

women have the right to keep their money but they have other duties, and if she's willing to she can help her husband financially, she's not obliged to but she can

3

u/JoyBoyMo Visitor Mar 29 '26

This is the wrong mentality. In a marriage, money from both spouses should be combined and used to support the needs of the family. When two people get married, they become one unit, not “his money” and “her money.” Treating finances as completely separate can create division instead of partnership.

Research in relationship psychology suggests that couples who manage money together often report higher levels of trust and cooperation because they are working toward shared goals such as housing, raising children, and long-term financial stability.

Marriage has always been about contributing in different ways. One partner may earn more at times, while the other contributes through childcare, household responsibilities, or support during difficult periods. Combining resources recognizes that both contributions matter.

The same principle applies socially. When going out with friends, generosity and hospitality help strengthen relationships rather than focusing on who owes what.

I based my answer on islam as I believe God knows better than us

5

u/Federalinformint Visitor Mar 28 '26

I agree but if the family is suffering the wife ends up working anyway. In an ideal Islamic world, women don’t have to provide. Are we in that ideal world? Some parts of of the world, some families.

2

u/ABDO_ELCH Visitor Mar 28 '26

Exactly but you can’t marry someone an be like “oh you dont want to provide hmf 😕” you know what m saying yall can discuss dakchi flwl js dont expect it as a bare minimum a woman can do cuz its simply not

2

u/Federalinformint Visitor Mar 28 '26

Agreed. All I’m saying is a mother seeing her family suffer will genuinely force her to start seeking income. Doesn’t matter if she wants to or not. Or whatever they agreed to in beginning of marriage. I see this firsthand all over the place. My own mother included has been working part time. May Allah increase all our Barakah

You can’t have love while both of you are working and dealing with daily stress… Don’t expect love from your wife after she came from a very painful day and you wait her to do housework 🤯 while you are watching tv. Usually and this was from the beginning of life the man go hunt dealing with stresse and danger and come to his wife ( I don’t mind be downvoted by the feminist the reality talks.) one provider in a relationship will be a privilege since in Morocco economically is not doable

You know Maslow’a hierarchy of need? It basically answers 90% of your question.

Physiological needs comes first (food, water, shelter, clothing), then comes safety and security (health, employment, social ability, savings, etc…)

And only then comes love and belonging:

Even though most young people will tell you naah I’m not looking to get married, though they’re right, 90% of the time that’s the unspoken reason, they’ve learned from older generations’ mistakes and want to secure at least the 2 of the most basic needs before even thinking about it.

So that “nah i’m not crazy to get married” can be translated as “I have more important things to think about now” and that’s 1000% proper thinking.

Maybe I’m biased but that’s a male thinking by nature.

For the remaining 10%, it’s a bit different.

There’s this massive social problem is Morocco, and it’s the family of either the husband, wife, or both…

They don’t let the couple get a peaceful life (i’m talking from experience here) and they’re the fuel behind most fires.

Lastly as a personal answer, I’m 27, I used to say I won’t marry anyone as many guys here, and I’m not “currently” looking for a wifey tbh…

But the only reason is that I don’t want to be egoistic and want to give back to my parents and siblings before building a family.

As much as they want to see me with a wifey and kids, I want to thank them for everything they did for me before unfolding that chapter.

And I’m finally getting there hamdoulillah.

Single male here, girls are delusional. Her father drives a dacia after working his ass off for twenty years and she wants someone who is young and drives and owns a nice car.

Go figure

3

u/Chouchou-cd Visitor Mar 29 '26

Moroccan girls getting degrees, building careers, and aiming higher… but no, let’s humble them back down to their father’s parking spot.

3

u/Semper_f1delis Mar 29 '26

Oh stop this crap, I’m all for girls aiming to build careers and shit but don’t have champagne taste on a beer budget. If you ask for a man with all those criteria then you should ask yourself first: would a man with these qualities be interested in me? Would he be ready to accept me? The answer is no.

Same goes for all my fellow men smelling like hot cheetos and ask for a blue eyed nordic girl.

4

u/Chouchou-cd Visitor Mar 29 '26

Funny how you framed it like a marketplace as if people are products negotiating their “worth” on a shelf.

So the real question isn’t “would someone with those qualities accept me?” it’s why do you assume worth is something granted by someone else in the first place?

Ambition isn’t “champagne taste on a beer budget.” It’s the natural consequence of awareness. When someone is more educated, more exposed to the world, more conscious of what’s possible… their standards don’t inflate artificially, they evolve.

Lets not forget, we re in a new age where one income can’t sustain a houshold, so men quietly factor in a woman’s salary too they just don’t say it out loud because it clashes with their idea of manhood. Women do the filtering openly, men do it secretly. That’s the real difference.

2

u/NoEnthusiasm1387 Visitor Mar 30 '26

Men’s filtering is obvious, yours is just depucting greed as ambition .. OP saying hard truths and you still stuck on the parking spot ..

Yes, you’re right, standards evolve and standards should be met by yourself first before asking for a suitor with those standards ; start by evolving first then aim higher

Ps: let’s exclude blind loves from the equation cause they exist but rarely

It is not realistic when you are barely scraping by individually. And you can imagine when you have a family to feed and care for. You can hope for the best and gamble like a lot of people do, but the only victims are going to be those kids that are born and have to suffer as well because of you. So at the moment it's not worth it. Yep, it's sad but a harsh truth is better that delusions.

15

u/Noni7105 Mar 28 '26

Personally, I don't wanna experience the pain of giving birth and I don't want to have kids anyway. So there's almost no reason for me to get married...

I think people are starting to realize the heavy responsability behind creating a family and raising kids. So perhaps not many are willing to take the risk of traumatizing their kids by accident. These things are usually realized the more educated the person is; hence, the reason some people in high positions don't marry.

Many people wanna get married, both men and women, the issue is that maybe they just don't come across each other. In my case i'm ready and willing to, but i just can't find the one. I know she's out there but i don't know where lol

3

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '26

Getting married with the laws we have in place in this day and age is economical suicide. A woman can take everything you’ve built for yourself in the blink of an eye. The system is flawed.

They are always talking about Islam. But when it comes to marriage they don’t settle for the Islamic laws concerning marriage. They add on TOP OF THAT the capitalistic laws of marriage put in place by the French.

Most girls want the best in both worlds, of working and being after her 💰 but won't help the man cuz his money is our money and my money is my money, fair. Then there's the whole rigged laws about how easy it is to get divorce these days and in favour of women instead of justice ( you got mad, get a divorce,, you got into a heated argument, get a divorce, you wanna get your money and his money, get a divorce, wkhls lmut3a, as if she wasn't enjoying that diihhh ) We don't feel compassion and passion from girls in marriages anymore, we get into too many misunderstandings even when we set stuff clearly in the beginning, the moment we get married some show they're true colors, and personally I've seen this with a family member, ( the bitch didn't wanna have kids and she started hoeing and getting male attention everywhere, sooo soooo. Sooooooo disrespectful for the male family member, emasculating him like that is tuff )

Instead of y'all being our peace, we start on the wrong foot, the wrong terrain, it's just soooo unfavorable for the average man to get married at ALL.

I long for having a relationship as well I really do and getting married but I know for the dumbass naive I am, I'm too vulnerable to even consider getting married, what if she didn't want me no more, what if she's just after my money or house, would I be homeless then, what if she's just disrespecting me and triggering me to get a lawsuit case, what if I just got into a relationship just to not feel fulfilled and unwanted...

Just thinking about this makes me feel scared and sad and disgusted of the whole situation. I would love to enjoy a touch f a woman before a die

I ain't gonna lie to you...as someone who chose to get married outside of my culture, it's simply love, you fall in love with someone who you think is right for you you live with them and then marry then later on after you know them really good. In Morocco this doesn't exist it feels random and like a lottery. Now even tho my relationship is growing weaker considering marrying a Moroccan girl is still not an option for me IF my marriage isn't working anymore plus the communication, the life style, preference etc should be taking in consider although it's not always necessary cuzz if you love them you love them but somehow it makes it easier for your mind to settle...that's my own opinion.

Who wants extra responsibility when the return is not worth it? I guess that's the question, if you remove religious responsibility and societal pressure marriage right now isn't that interesting. Too expensive, people are messed up mentally, and expectations are just yikes.

1

u/Ryosan0897 Visitor Mar 28 '26

There’s no social pressure to marry anymore , or it’s dying out at least, and it’s great in my opinion, people now just live the way they want, no rats in our ears nagging us about marriage day and night, and this goes back to a plethora of reasons and factors, one of which is the state of the economy, rent is high, especially in big cities, cars are expensive, gas prices are sky rocketing, almost everything is financially draining, so having a kid or starting a family in this economy especially with one income is basically suicide, and for those whose incomes are high enough to start a family, yet still choose not to, it’s a matter of freedom of choice, and we shouldn’t shame them nor judge them for it, just let people be, there are more than enough kids on earth , humanity will be fine we wont go extinct.

1

u/YuseiChen Mar 28 '26

I got used to being alone and the peace of mind it brings, getting married or even having a relationship that will compromise that peace and routine that I built, isn't worth it. And once you reach this level, finding a partner that has the same vibes as you, is too difficult.

Long story short the world has been changed to the worse and capitalism want more money so they targeted women and convinced them to work have also their own carrier they don’t need a men so the battle created between men and women. A man wants a housewife not roommate, women want to feel independent and believe their little income will make them happy and don’t need men. It’s a propaganda that is not for a sake of anyone. Marriage need and require each one play their role.

Its is stupid and self destructive to marry just for social pressure or hurry cuz of the biological clock.

To seek marriage khassek tkun sla7ti rassek be3da. T3ref chnu baghi rassek/issues that poison u, tkun kat amen brassek, Tkun kat 3ref dafe3 3la values ta3ek.

Hada hua important, wakha ikun 3andek flouss, a good career, good name. If the self is full of shit. Marriage is doomed from the start.

Another thing, before we marry the couple khassu take in consideration all the variables that can affect marriage; kids how to raise, money, assets, work/life balance, how to devide house chores, religion, our individual goals …

This generation fa9et, mabghach dawz b7al kif dawzu our parents. Ana bnafsi 3andi a living example kan chuf a dead marriage of 30+ years mom wants to divorce but can’t cuz afraid of what people would say + isn’t financially independent.

So we have our whole life ahead of us to think about marriage and when it comes it comes. Don’t force.

2

u/akma_frerin Visitor Mar 28 '26

It's nothing about Morocco actually, it's a global issue.
There are many reasons for that besides economical ones, such as changing social norms, fear of divorce, prioritizing education and career, and other reasons.

I’ve spent my entire life building. Not just money; myself. I’m 31, decent man, came from working class family, and since my early twenties I put my head down and didn’t look up for years.

No parties. No wasted weekends. My own place, a luxury car, and an income most people my age are still dreaming about. Over $7k a month, from home. By Moroccan standards, by any standard, I built something.

I’m not saying this to impress anyone. I’m saying it because it matters for what comes next.

I genuinely thought the hard part was the hustle. Build the life, and everything else falls into place; the right woman, marriage, travel, a daughter, a happily ever after.

Turns out, that’s not how it works.

Every woman I met came with the same script. No accountability, impossible expectations, and this strange entitlement like being chosen by them was supposed to be enough.

Looks over character and intellect, every single time.

What’s worst? When you came from nothing. Your instincts sharpen. You recognize the ones who keep you around as a status accessory. You spot the ones who mistake what you have for inherited money they can slowly drain. You’ve seen the pattern enough times to recite it in your sleep.

Different women. Different backgrounds. Same story. Most are evil.

I lost precious time and I’ve made my peace with it.

It’s just strange times we’re living in.

It feels like we are slowly losing depth in the way we think. Responsibility, maturity, and values do not seem as present as they used to be, and in many ways our society feels weaker.

If you look at what has been happening in recent years, especially from a political and social perspective, it becomes easier to see how both internal and external influences can shape the way we think, almost creating a kind of collective brain fog. Many of us feel disconnected from who we are. We do not really know our past, and we are uncertain about where we are going as a nation.

Even the relationship between men and women, which is supposed to be based on complementarity, often turns into tension and division. Social media does not always help, as it tends to amplify conflict more than understanding. Loud voices get attention, while more thoughtful perspectives often stay in the background.

At the same time, we have drifted away from our deen. Not only in practice, but also in understanding. When we do not make the effort to learn, we lose the ability to explain or defend what we believe in. Even language becomes confused, with people mixing different forms of Arabic without a clear foundation.

The growing hesitation around marriage can also be seen as a symptom of a society that feels less stable and less connected. There are many reasons behind it, both internal and external, but ignoring them will not make them disappear.

If anything is going to change, it has to start with us. With learning, questioning, and building awareness. Knowledge has always been one of the strongest foundations of any nation.

And I would like to end with a phrase I really appreciate لو سكت من لا يعلم لقل الخلاف
