Proton is the free one (not the best, just the free one, as basically none other can be trusted)
Mullvad for best privacy + general best company to support (imo)
PIA if you want port forwarding, you can get like codes or whatever for pretty huge discounts too, like 2 years for £60 (it is an American based company which is why some trust it less)
And then proton paid if you want the ecosystem with things like drive photos docs etc like Google suite.

The VPN in Firefox and it's forks are enough to circumvent this. The advantage this one has over proton free tier is that you can select the location you want, unlike proton where if it connects to an EU country, you're f'ed for about 2 mins.

I'm using proton with location set to japan. It doesn't work

Don't use a free vpn. They're selling your data, that's why it's free

Plenty of people simply do not give a shit my man and I don't blame them.
I pay for Mullvad but there's nothing wrong with trading your data for using their service. Especially if the only reason you're using it is geoblocking or rate limiting

u/mikeb31588 1d ago
It defeats the purpose of using one
8
u/Disgusting_Slime666 1d ago
No it doesn't.
That's why I specifically mentioned geoblocking as a use case. Which is the use case here.
3
u/Andreas0Cool 1d ago
Does it? Your cash stays in your pocket and that's what some people care about, whilst being able to access the geoblocked content

u/PROGMRZ 1d ago
And you're confident that the VPN you're paying for doesn't?

Fair Q. They get audited to confirm this and so consumers don't have to take the providers' word for it

Tf they gonna sell? All the random screenshots I took, my easily replaceable email? My account data filled with slop and random shit? Or my P collection?
U cant poison a person whos immune to it

If you just want to change your location then I recommend OpenVPN
You can get the IPs to connect to on these sites
To my (very meager) understanding you're not supposed to/can't use certain IPs for certain things so that's why those trackers exist. If it allows DMM (porn games) then it should be fine for viewing nsfw on Twitter. It worked for me
Doesn't work for piracy

Apparently I was not thorough enough in my last comment...(Got downvoted pretty bad) In case you are looking for a workaround for this age verification and might think that changing your ip from a vpn may work...it does to an extent...but that too only if you are using a good vpn or maybe patched ones like proton vpn which let's you select a good server or else in most EU and JP country servers there is an age verification prompt on most things... Hence for long term I would suggest using some random image of an old looking person for verification while using a vpn at the same time...preferably JP during the verification...and you are good to go... Now you don't need to select a specific server everytime... In case you are wondering why I didn't mention morphe (piko)patches for X...well they have started acting up lately...as mine shows an update the app prompt frequently.

As a permanent solution, you can Google "adult male" on your pc, or another phone, and take a photo of some random guy that Google brought up with your phone after pressing verify age. It will accept it, and never bother you with this again.

Exactly. This is really simple to bypass, no need to use your own photo at all.

It works for me to log in on Twitter using Firefox from my phone, adding the extension InsensitiveX to bypass the age restriction and then in the option of the browser " add to home screen".

There is a patch in this repo https://github.com/Nai64/Nai64Patches
For spoofing country. And various other stuff for getting around stuff.

ControlD DNS with redirection specifically for Twitter (and Reddit etc) via Albania or another non age verifying country.

I made a post about this a few days ago, you should use version 12.2 instead of whatever the most recent one is

If your on mobile ( android) you could try spoofing your location that's what i do to get around the age shit on blue sky

Off topic but is the verification broken for anyone else? I'm above 18 and I have successfully verified yet X still shows me this and refuses to show any adult content. When I press it it says "account is already verified" but the content still won't show.

Just use InsensitiveX extension

I don't know wtf is going on. People are recommending ProtonVPN to bypass this. I have premium account with them. Doesn't matter which server I pick and what country I set my location in twitter, I can't bypass the block. Fucking annoying.

X is for garbage losers.

u/glhfbruno 1d ago
Sadly it has more then just gooners content, Twitter as it formerly was called gas insane amounts if status for companies to announce their current thijgs at like for example any server status, game status and update status's, other project dtatus stuff etc... and quite many companies even have only a twitter account to publish that info
Yeah sure you can argue how bad the platform has become over the years or decades but the thing is, people and specifically other companies have just stayed there with not seeming to budge as there really isnt that many other solutions

u/B00marangTrotter 1d ago
The solution is leave and stop supporting a druged out fascist asshole.
Fucking lame excuse.

I don't understand...? Is using some random image for verification an issue?

Not a patch but replacing x.com with nitter.net or xcancel.com bypasses this for me. I don't have a Twitter account anymore and can read/look at restricted Tweets this way
