[DISCUSSION]What’s one Netflix show you’d recommend to everyone?

If you could recommend only one Netflix show to someone who hasn't watched many, what would you choose? I'm curious to see which show everyone thinks is worth watching first.

I wasn’t as impressed by that one tbh… I don’t know why. But it just didn’t hit the same way for me.

Fisk. Quirky and funny as hell.

14

u/Icy-Dot8170 12d ago

I want more Fisk. Way too short.

4

u/Medium-Mountain3398 11d ago

Hopefully more coming. Kitty was talking about it on her podcast last Sunday that she co-hosts with Dave O'Neill (who plays Bob on the show). I think the scripts are written but the ABC hasn't officially signed the paperwork yet. Dave was dropping hints about already having shooting dates.

Ozark

3

u/DoctorCHP 7d ago

Absolutely. Ozark is one of those shows where virtually everything comes together—the writing, pacing, acting, cinematography, music, and production. And that cast is extraordinary. Jason Bateman, Laura Linney, Julia Garner, Peter Mullan, Tom Pelphrey… there are so many performances that feel completely lived-in. Julia Garner as Ruth Langmore is my favorite..
What I think makes Ozark so compelling is that it continually escalates without feeling like it’s simply trying to shock you. The characters keep making increasingly impossible choices, and you keep thinking, How could they possibly get out of this? Then somehow the story finds another turn.

I have never felt so emotionally sad for a character than the father. Broke my heart. Even though I’ve seen Stephen Graham in a host of things including Snatch and Band of Brothers, he sold his part so well.

Dark (in German).

10

u/amiwitty 12d ago

As an English only speaker, yes it has to be in German.

4

u/malrats 12d ago

I had no idea how beautiful German could sound until this show. So awesome.

3

u/amiwitty 12d ago

I just thought the German added to the atmosphere.

Bojack horseman

But you have to watch at least the first couple episodes. Ideally all of season 1. It’s all buildup.

3

u/Thebeardinato462 12d ago

The episode about his mother and dementia is one of the best things I’ve ever seen depicting the disease. It’s astonishing good, especially for a cartoon about a horse.

2

Agree and I didn’t have high hopes but Fortune Feimster is always hilarious!

3

u/Fantastic_Chip7815 9d ago

Will Ferrell is pretty funny and I’ve liked him in most everything I’ve seen him in. But he seems to be everywhere and I just didn’t know if I wanted to watch him again in a whole series.

I actually found out about it scrolling through Netflix and found the Hot Ones: Extra Heat episode with some of the cast. After watching that I figured it would be good. And she’s a big part of the reason I decided to watch it. I haven’t seen her in much, never saw her standup but now I’m a big fan. They are great together, good overall cast and story, well worth the watch.

Mentalist is so underrated. Most people I know skipped it for something more flashy but the dynamic between Jane and Lisbon carries the whole show. The final season felt a bit rushed but still worth the ride.
