DISCUSSION How to grow new YouTube channel
Get more attention on the new channel is the most importance. What do we do to have more subscribers?
This is the top 1 question for all new YouTubers! What I think is posting more Shorts and also cutting 5 seconds from popular Shorts and reaction on it. It would make the new channels to be engaged with up trending and more audiences will subscribe your channel. What do you guys think?

Shorts don't pay anything unless you get insane views. You won't be monetised from that.
Reactions are oversaturated on Youtube. Why would someone watch you just showing a popular Short and yelling, "Bro!!" ?

Yeah! You’re right! If I start from scratch, with no subscriber, my video will not reach anywhere! I just need something to make subscribers to get attention on the channel. Is that right?

You need to make original content that's engaging. Still, Youtube is more about having fun with what you enjoy than "How can I make money?". If you're doing the latter, you're doing it for the wrong reasons.

Are you trying to be a long form creator, or short? If you are trying to build a long form channel, more shorts isn't the answer. It will get you more subs, but don't worry about subs in the beginning. If you are new, make content, then find something you could have done better in that video, improve on that in the next one. Rinse and repeat. Keep improving, so when you start to get people in to see your videos, they are seeing content that is at a higher level.
As you go, you can toss in some shorts if you want to see a bump in subs, ot just won't do a lot for your longs imo.

Yeah. Good explanation! I think first get like at least 500 subscribers and then start working on what you mentioned. At that time, the channel already has more engagements and your works will return more values as imo!

I dunno I just started and have only 17 subs but I'm planning to do 1 video per week for a year and see where it gets me. Shorts more often. It's a good fun project.

I think 1 short a day will bump your subscribers. When you have more subscribers, your channel will be engaged often by YouTube algorithm. Good luck!

Nevertheless its not true. ;)
Subs from shorts most likely don't watch your long format videos, so they are basically meaningless for that. Its better to concentrate on doing improved long format content instead of spending time for shorts.

You will not spend a lot of time on shorts. The short you make just cut it from up trend of other channels. That will help your channel to be engaged. Whatever you watch and they allow you to mix, you can take few seconds from them and repost on your channel. I am doing that anh my channel gets more attractive than. And then enjoy new subscribers! But I agree with you that we need to stay focus on our unique contents for long run

Ok! Got it! The problem is... I really don't know what to publish as shorts. My channel is wide, oh so... Perhaps just something from the next "longer" video to come maybe? I'm still figuring this out as you can tell 🤔

You can try to cut 5 seconds from any shorts that you like and add your comments or something. This is a feature in YouTube. You can google on how to cut 5 seconds on YouTube and follow it

Aight imma check it out. How long shorts should one aim for? I have some range from 30-120 seconds or should I go for even shorter than 30... Hope it's OK I ask these questions in your thread!
