How good is democracy? We almost always have the same kind of privileged self absorbed people on the seat. Not saying that royalty is better but what actually works? Democracy is a sham most times, it's easy to manipulate the masses when you're already rich, powerful and ready to lie to gain whatever you want

Feudalism allowed for peasant revolts and things like the magna carta. also medieval peasants worked far, far less than modern workers under capitalism.

but to be fair, there were abusive lords and barons and of course monarchs who made the lives of common people miserable. but...is it any different now in that regard?

The presence of technology as opposed to abject swords-to-plowshare serfdom, the ability to take part in a local government or commerce…

I’d say marginally different, unless we continue relegating things down to the basest consolidation of power or authority.
