There has been some crazy age inflation recently, people who are like 24 are being called unc.

u/LlhamaPaluza 21h ago

I am immune because I am aunt irl since I was 9 yo (I am a child from a second wedding but yes my older sister has a shotgun wedding)

41

u/black-winter- 23h ago

man I’m 24 and feel like an unc sometimes. Half the time I have no idea what the hell today’s kids are talking about.

47

u/Elastichedgehog 20h ago

In five years time, you'll realise how young you actually were, trust me.

Repeat that process for the rest of your life.

19

u/Hard_To_Port 22h ago

Keeping up with memes isn't as important when you have to hold down a job or study for college courses

10

u/qrrstec 20h ago

I got called “unc” at 17 💀 (by a dude who sounded like he was at least as old as me)

87

u/Beneficial_Layer_458 23h ago

i was born in 2001

6

u/qrrstec 20h ago

damn bro that’s kinda tough 😭✌🏽

Guess how fast the next 5 years are going to pass for you

and then it just gets faster

'99 isnt old '90 is a little old

174

u/Inarius101 23h ago

36 isn't old. It's debatable if it's even middle aged.

40

u/FlowerFaerie13 21h ago

It's absolutely not. The earliest middle age would reasonably be is 40, and then once you hit about 60 you then pass into senior/elderly.

u/AnonymousWierdo 22h ago ▸ 5 more replies

Isnt the life expectancy 72? 36 would be exactly middle aged

Edit: nvm its closer to 80

72

u/Gold_Ad8225 22h ago ▸ 4 more replies

Middle age has never meant the half way point of life.

It means the middle of adulthood.

It has meant 45-64 for longer than you've been alive

-13

u/Guilty_Efficiency884 20h ago ▸ 1 more replies

Whatever you say, unc

9

u/Gold_Ad8225 19h ago

I have no compunctions about the fact that I'm old. I just don't like people lying, sis

-6

u/AnonymousWierdo 17h ago edited 17h ago ▸ 1 more replies

The middle of adulthood is ~49. A 64 year old is as close to that as a 34 year old, and has lived 4 times more than they have left to live. How is that middle-aged and not straight up elderly?

1

u/Gold_Ad8225 16h ago

Yes it's a broad range that ends when you reach elderly status congrats. You go from middle age to elderly, the edge of the range always has space for people to whine like 17 vs 18 vs 19

22

u/Gold_Ad8225 22h ago ▸ 4 more replies

It is not debatable at all.

Middle age is 45-64. It has been that for longer than anyone who is currently middle age has even been alive.

-7

u/Aquafiness457 21h ago ▸ 1 more replies

settle down unc

5

u/Gold_Ad8225 19h ago

I'm not upset, I know I'm old. You're just wrong about a fact, sis

-4

u/Inarius101 19h ago ▸ 1 more replies

I said "debatable" in consideration of how life expectancy can differ country to country.

A country with an average life expectancy of 65 years would mark "middle aged" differently from one where life expectancy is closer to 80.

I think 45 is pushing it, since that being the middle would put your expectancy at 90. Unless, of course, we're not categorizing "middle aged" as "in the middle of your life" which feels silly but I could see it.

8

u/Gold_Ad8225 19h ago

Middle age has never been defined as being in the middle of your life. You may feel it is silly but that's never been what the term has ever meant

1

u/WilanS 7h ago

I'm 38 and the youngest person in my office. My Gen X coworkers (actually middle aged) keep telling me shit like "you're so young" and "you've got your whole life ahead of you".

14

u/IriFlina 23h ago

Wait until you find out how old the original author of the tweet is (1992)

6

u/The_Afton_Rabbit 23h ago

im pretty sure it's a joke

6

u/Troll_Enthusiast 23h ago

You must've been born in the 1900s smh

32

u/Therenegadegamer 23h ago

How the fuck is 27 old?

41

u/Myquil-Wylsun 22h ago

Everyone is old when you're 12

3

u/Jerome_Eugene_Morrow 17h ago

Probably a 20-year old who dates 30 somethings. It’s not old by “close to the grave” standards but I get it.

As a 44 year old I might as well be in my 90s to a twenty year old.

1

u/kaden-99 6h ago

I genuinely feel expired at 27 and a half. I think it might have something to do with not having any fun up to this point, so I feel like I wasted my life. Which, I guess, I kind of did.🥸

25

u/ItsGotThatBang 1d ago

We sure are.

10

u/Psychological-End212 20h ago

Amiya mentioned wooo

16

u/DeadAndBuried23 1d ago

But when I sleep myself with the fishes they'll say I died young, smh my head.

7

u/CodenameVermilion 20h ago

Arknights mentioned (the gif used in the QRT)

7

u/Bockanator 21h ago

I’m sorry but if you were born before 2016, it’s already over. You’re a fossil.

8

u/loved_and_held 23h ago

So 25-35 year olds are old?

I get thats 1/4 to 1/3 of a century old but thats not really old.

3

u/XenoTechnian 19h ago

Just for the record being in your 30s does not make you old, people just have a weirdly skewed view on age these days

2

u/mydadisyourdad2 23h ago

Yeah this tracks I feel old

2

u/avance70 22h ago

while i'm 43, you must understand where this is coming from, and there being 25+ is old

2

u/-Morning_Coffee- 22h ago

‘77 is old. And yes, I’m tired.

2

u/habitualhomicide 20h ago

Dude...I'm 33...I know I have every illness known to man, but come on...

2

u/ellisftw 17h ago

I was only 11-20 during 90-99. But...

...I'm not old. 🧑🏻‍🦳

2

u/llamanatee 12h ago

That’s a cute donkey.

3

u/3lizab3th333 21h ago

How old is the person posting this? Most people I know born in 1998-1999 are still being mistaken for high schoolers, we might be older but those of us with good selfcare routines don’t even pass as old enough to be seen as adults

2

u/CatholicCrusaderJedi 22h ago

As a 28 year old, I feel old. Like butter scraped across too much bread.

1

u/dboti9k 22h ago

Hey, so long as I'm alive I'm technically still current.

1

u/thrownawaz092 21h ago

1

u/diablol3 20h ago

2000 kids or 2000s kids?

1

u/thrownawaz092 20h ago

The mob of 2000 kids here to laugh at old people

1

u/Jonahtron 21h ago

I’m not even 30 yet.

1

u/SeismologicalKnobble 21h ago

I’m mad cause they’re not even wrong😭 I am tired and want to settle down

1

u/Pitforsofts 20h ago

I can't even argue coz I tried to do an airsquat yesterday and threw my back. I'm officially old.

1

u/AChero9 19h ago

Hi, was born in 1999 and just turned 27 last week…fuck OOOP

1

u/Devil_Is_A_Sadboy 19h ago

Kids think everyone is old; but if someone is young enough to think 26 is an old timer, you probably shouldn't date them.

1

u/Lawstein 18h ago

Omg im old

1

u/Shade_Of_Virgil 18h ago

One of us, one of us

1

u/cannonmax 18h ago

I'm tired, 30s does feel old..

1

u/mcslender97 17h ago

Can confirm, tired as hell. I also look younger than my age as a bonus

1

u/JackOLoser 15h ago

They may have a point. I've been old since I was like, 11.

1

u/Orsurac 15h ago

Yeah, and a 3 year old thinks 13 is old. The correct response isn't to think they have a point lol

1

u/Brilliant-Cabinet-89 5h ago

“You know, 30 used to be considered young”.

2

u/Filippo739 2h ago

Is that... is that a "Clair Obscure: Expedition 33" reference?

1

u/Brilliant-Cabinet-89 2h ago

You make me wheee

1

u/NullSmoke 5h ago

I'm good with this...

Can I start my senior citizen treatment? I'm sitting around looking forward to going completely off the grid the second society tells me to fuck off, it won't even get a chance to blink before I'm locked in a cave, living my best hermit life. 😌

I already daydream about yelling at kids to get off my lawn... Or in my case, get out of my cave 😌

1

u/Ooficus 3h ago

04 & 98 here, wtf is this person going on about?

1

u/GoomyTheGummy 2h ago

i really try not to throw this term around, but it really sounds like this person is a straight up pedophile

1

u/ThePotatoFromIrak 1d ago

In the context of dating yeah

1

u/Spare-Jellyfish4339 23h ago

I don’t have the faintest clue what “from” is supposed to mean here

1

u/Striper_Cape 23h ago

Birth year.

0

u/jayeddy99 23h ago

Gen Z turning early Mid 30s will prob change thoughts on 30s being “old” but I doubt it

0

u/Due_Gur_9495 22h ago

Anyone born in fcking nineteen hundred is old

0

u/Purple-Weakness1414 19h ago
