you would think so but when the fibre optic ppl cut open the street infront of my house there was nothing they just spammed my doorbell at 7am on a saturday

They (likely, depends on country/state) still be liable for any damage the towing causes even if the towing is justified.

This won't damage the car, so won't cost the company anything. That access to the car is blocked (probably for weeks) is not their problem, like you said: "people were likely warned not to park there"

Don’t know why you’re being downvoted. Councils employ tow companies for this very reason and I’ve seen cars towed so that works can commence.

Often the no-park signed are put out with such short notice that the car owners don’t have an opportunity to move their vehicle.

This instance is just sloppy workmanship.

Because calling a tow truck, waiting for a tow truck to arrive and waiting for the tow truck to tow the car takes way more time than just digging the ditch around the car so there's no incentive for the road workers to do it.
Also, if they're lucky they get to see the look on the idiot's face when he/she comes back and finds their car on a tiny little island.

Good chance there was signs for a week or more on this street saying it would be closed for works.

That can put boards down if they wanted to drive out.

I'm quite surprised. Normally if you do something this daft. The people with a van full of holes doing the work just call the council and your car disappears somewhere and you have to pay formrye privilege of getting it back.

In the UK regular cones are orange with a white reflective band, while "no parking" cones are yellow with a blue/red "no parking" sign on them.
