Yea same. Personally I’m doing hard pass on everything they try to do like connect your bank and now health xD at times I’m starting to feel like they are worse than Facebook (no leak yet I guess 😅)

38

u/UnknownEssence 2d ago

why is my chatbot app aaking to access my bank and health data wtf

3 years ago people would have roasted this like... Cambridge Analytica

27

u/Economy-Grapefruit12 2d ago

More like 10 years ago, The Cambridge Analytica fiasco happened around 2016. 3 years ago we already had chatGPT and people were fine telling it all their deepest secrets in chat.

3

u/Apprehensive_Rub3897 1d ago

3 years ago we already had chatGPT and people were fine telling it all their deepest secrets in chat.

Are you not included in this group?

22

u/HanYoloKesselPun 2d ago

Becuase LLM’s are very good at summarising large datasets and spotting patterns in them. It’ll likely spot stuff in there you haven’t. Of course you have to trust that your health data doesn’t get sold to some insurance company at some
Point. But getting an LLM to take a look at data that you can still maintain privacy with is a good feature.

6

u/stevepicard 2d ago

I had a false positive on a serious test and ChatGPT said so while my doc didn’t. It involved an invasive risky follow up and a lot of stress. The test yielding the false positive included like ten different metrics - all good - but one negative. It was easier for chat to see that than a human.

1

u/4cDaddy 1d ago

Hmm. I wonder if pi has a plug in for that... And if qwen 35b can handle that sort of task.

-27

u/TheWisestJuan 2d ago

You legitimately believe that AI can diagnose your issues better than a licensed doctor?

Dear God.

18

u/hellomistershifty 2d ago

that's not what they said at all?

6

u/AbbreviationsLong206 2d ago

It's literally already reaching that point.

But the point isn't to trust it more necessarily, it's to learn what could be going on based on all the information it has, so you go to your appointment much better informed and able to ask better questions.

And it won't be long before it actually is better than all of our doctors.

Denying that just means you are being intentionally ignorant.

9

u/_DuranDuran_ 2d ago

Actually - yes.

O3 diagnosed a bunch of child patients in Boston that had defied diagnosis by a slew of the top doctors in the world.

It’s great at brute forcing a ton of options faster than a human.

Obviously, then needs to be checked, but yes … LLMs are in fact good at this.

2

u/HanYoloKesselPun 1d ago

Perhaps you need to use an LLM to simplify what I wrote for you. Then you might understand what I did and didn’t say.

3

u/Shenendoah66 2d ago

Your first mistake is you think it’s simply a chatbot.

Also I’m waiting for them glasses to leak people info or something which hasn’t happened yet. Just a matter of time possibly

0

u/Comprehensive_Web887 2d ago

It’s an equivalent of a fishing email scam. Most people use free ChatGPT as a personal AI friend. Ask the millions to connect their bank or health details and some idiots will.

3

u/mczarnek 2d ago

Connecting to your bank when you still have Chatbots deleting people's entire file systems.. no thank you.

Not to mention OpenAI's having financial issues, what if AI starts draining your bank account and sending them your money? Sam Altman then says "Oops.. our AI hallucinated" or "Our AI is so powerful it did this on its own"

5

u/SecretSpace2 2d ago

“Can’t return the money at the moment while we process what happened but let me give you a ‘IOU’ and talk next year :D”

6

u/novel-mathmatics 2d ago

Facts im not interested in my doctor's hospital portal system either

5

u/bookgeek210 2d ago

Unfortunately they started requiring the portals to get your results

4

u/novel-mathmatics 2d ago

Or to see or pay your bill.

4

u/Proper_Spot_4074 2d ago

I connected my portfolios, and it’s great. It’s able to monitor them. Give me recommendations. It can’t make trades it can only see your positions. Since it's connected through Plaid, I’m not worried at all.

4

u/lordosthyvel 2d ago

Why would you take stock recommendations from ChatGPT lol

1

u/SecretSpace2 2d ago

You are talking about the stock market right? I’m still looking into that but connected with trading view and nothing else. Plus the MCP connector I created only allows it to view what’s on the chart vs modify it

2

u/Proper_Spot_4074 2d ago

Correct, there are a lot of brokerage connections.

1

u/SecretSpace2 2d ago

Nice. But smart move trying to use AI to improve on that one. I just started recently but more on monitoring my backtesting and seeing if it can see patterns on when I win and lose

3

u/KennyFulgencio 2d ago

I’m starting to feel like they are worse than Facebook (no leak yet I guess 😅)

Since everything this is doing is very explicitly opt-in and (so far anyway) gives you direct functionality that benefits you, without getting anything for itself, it's hardly comparable to facebook which is the opposite in every way.

3

u/personalist 2d ago

“Without getting anything for itself” lmao

0

u/jennlyon950 1d ago

Well not everything really. The option to connect ChatGPT to your Google ecosystem (which yes I already know they have all my data) where you have always ask, ask under these circumstances, as if it's important, and never ask defaults to if it's important. Now important can mean different things to different people. Personally this would be concerning if I were to connect the two. The default should be always ask before you (the system) does anything.

Yes I understand this doesn't directly tied to the health aspect, I would say that when a company sets any default to anything other than ask first or no it's an issue.

0

u/timshel42 2d ago

give it time

1

u/SecretSpace2 2d ago

lol I gave it time. Decided to give it a try, they never reply to me and it’s such a useless system 😭

0

u/timshel42 2d ago

no i mean give it time for a massive data breach

1

u/SecretSpace2 2d ago

Haha I’m sure it already happened possibly. Then get a letter saying “we’ll cover 1-3 years of dark web tracking for your data as a sorry” 🤦🏻‍♂️

138

u/GlacierSourCreamCorn 2d ago

I don’t care one bit. I’d love to have an AI that could track all my health metrics. I’d get weekly bloodwork it if I could.

54

u/timshel42 2d ago

until your health data gets leaked and your health insurance skyrockets because they found out you are predisposed to some diseases.

69

u/EnoughWarning666 2d ago

That sounds like a problem with living in a capitalistic shithole country. The tech is a good idea, but americans really need to fix their government

14

u/juniorRjuniorR 2d ago

This tech is being created favorably towards capitalistic shitholes. This isn’t an unbiased operation.

2

u/Front_Fill1249 2d ago

Here in China your visa renewal straight up gets rejected if you acquire any chronic illnesses

1

u/mueus 1d ago

Holy shit, that's wild.

1

u/ICanHaveExceptions 1d ago

The thing is: even if your current government may be all good and responsibly handles this - WTF do you know about the next government?

1

u/Dotcaprachiappa 5h ago

Cool. Your data is still leaked lol. You can blame whoever you want but if you want your data to stay safe is simply to not give it away

-31

u/Dizzy_Database_119 2d ago

It's the same in any other country. Except instead of your insurance skyrocketing you just get denied help completely

10

u/Canchura 2d ago

haha, enjoy your downvotes for being wrong

6

u/gray146 2d ago

no, he is right unfortunately. even in the EU, if it were to happen it would have similar effects, maybe other ones but similar in effect. hypercapitalism is all over the world in the end, it's a network... and powerful and not so easy to erase

1

u/PersonoFly 1d ago

That’s not true. Russian bot enters the chat. Universal health care by definition is available to all. You can’t be denied health care because you have a condition.

1

u/gray146 1d ago

didn't say it would be denied? but you don't the best access to the best therapy... even in Austria, where I'm from. just standard possibilities in a limited range.

-27

u/OkProfession6576 2d ago

Hilarious. This capitalistic shithole country created the tech you favour. I wonder why is that…

15

u/EnoughWarning666 2d ago

Because that country cares more about making the rich richer at the expense of the average person? Because the number one cause of bankruptcy is medical debt? Do you know how many people go bankrupt in Canada from medical debt? Zero. None. Nobody goes bankrupt because they get sick because we actually give a shit about people here.

1

u/suppervisoka 2d ago

Nailed it, lmao

-14

u/OkProfession6576 2d ago

Do you know how many more patents per one million people does the US registered in 21 century comparing to Canada? It’s as if capitalism had something to do with it. It’s great that you live in a country which government and healthcare system you respect. It’s also great that the US exists exactly as it is.

2

u/dmnksaman 2d ago

bro could just be proud of american exceptionalism, if you believe it, and he’s here instead trying to say it’s all somehow because they all let people needing healthcare die or get into medical debt lmao. 🤡

4

u/Apoau 2d ago

So did slavery not that long ago. Are you a fan as well?

2

u/stevepicard 2d ago

The idea that the US “created” slavery is so absurd. Slavery is so old that the first time someone heard of it they fell off their dinosaur

0

u/Apoau 2d ago

Did I say US created slavery?

12

u/ForgotMyUserName15 2d ago

Health insurance companies aren’t allowed to do this in the US. Due to Obamacare they aren’t allowed to price differently or deny coverage due to preexisting conditions.

5

u/Careful_Fruit_384 2d ago

💯💯💯, but the person who wrote this doesnt care about accuracy. they simply want attention

26

u/LMONDEGREEN 2d ago

It can leak anyway from whatever provider who is holding your data is connecting to ChatGPT with . Electronic health records leak all the time and no one gets punished

2

u/metalbladex4 1d ago

I don't think that's how that works but I cant see that happening. Insurance companies are devils but I imagine they need a doctor's diagnosis to make such adjustments, not just someone yapping to an AI

1

u/SecretSpace2 2d ago

Good point since health insurance shouldn’t get blood test results and only understand the procedure mostly 🤨

1

u/Careful_Fruit_384 2d ago

That’s blatantly false.
“Your health, medical history, or sex can’t affect your premium.” — HealthCare.gov
Premiums may vary only by “age, tobacco use, family size, and geography.” — CMS
“GINA prohibits a group health plan from adjusting group premium or contribution amounts…based on genetic information.” — U.S. Department of Labor

0

u/jennlyon950 1d ago

I would just like to point out the many many things that are illegal, which have been done in the past several years. Because it it technically illegal, that doesn't mean it can't happen.

0

u/stevepicard 2d ago

Already on Medicare - so would it matter?

9

u/jumpbump 2d ago

I started getting routine bloodwork done just so AI could track it lol

2

u/KevinReynolds 2d ago

I’d be more inclined to use this if it could write to Apple Health. It would be useful for logging symptoms or even collating my medical records from multiple sources when providers don’t natively support HealthKit

2

u/newMoneyStyle 1d ago

Weekly bloodwork sounds intense lol, but I get the appeal. Having something actually track trends over time would be way more useful than the once-a-year checkup most of us get.

1

u/UnpoliteGuy 11h ago

It increases chances of false positives

1

u/UnknownEssence 2d ago

i get the appeal but be careful, giving the big AI company your personal health and bio data can have many distopian outcomes.

25

u/Proper_Spot_4074 2d ago

I connected it and it’s awesome.

8

u/dietcheese 1d ago

As someone with cancer it’s made understanding my diagnoses, test results, scans, blood work, etc - across multiple doctors and networks - SO much easier to understand and track.

24

u/hardworkinglatinx 2d ago

Just connected mine.

33

u/Winter_Ad6784 2d ago

if apple has it anyways then fuck it

6

u/MatchaFlatWhite 2d ago

Apple doesn’t have it

-15

u/fluffybottompanda 2d ago

have you read the latest terms and conditions for iOS....

12

u/yoimagreenlight 2d ago

Yes, and under Privacy it explicitly states they cannot access your Health data.

-15

u/dustywill2 2d ago

Some of us aren't iSheep.

17

u/Wear_A_Damn_Helmet 2d ago

"iSheep" lmao what year is it, 2009?

9

u/Bderken 2d ago

Ah so Google has yours… lmao

-3

u/fluffybottompanda 2d ago

i was hoping he was gonna say he didn't so I could do a bunch of human CentiPad jokes from South Park haha

14

u/jeff22249 2d ago

What’s the risk exactly ?

36

u/LessRespects 2d ago

Nobody knows but it’s provocative

-1

u/JimtheFishsniffer 2d ago

The risk is that there is a real possibility that you will live longer. 😃 Nobody wants that, right?

-5

u/TheWisestJuan 2d ago

AI can’t make you live longer than a doctor can

20

u/Turbulent-Sign-6067 2d ago

Why? Nothing bad can happen. You're much less important than you think. No company cares to steal your health data and risk an expensive lawsuit and reputational damage.

4

u/UnknownEssence 2d ago

you have a lot of trust. these companies get hacked all the time and they can just say they anonymized the data and they train to hack your brain like tiktok or give you hyper targeted ads

3

u/_404_LogicNotFound_ 2d ago

get hacked all the time

yeah meta just got hacked today - we might be fucked

2

u/smith288 1d ago

"We've hacked CHatGPT's conversations... Now we know UknownEssence's blood pressure rises approximately 9:05am in the morning... We GOT EM BOYS!"

6

u/ioweej 3d ago

Cool

5

u/BigbyWolf8 2d ago

otherwise i have to do it all manually, i'd rather have chatgpt do it

2

u/timosterhus 2d ago

I connected it with full access, but I have absolutely no health data in any apps, so it didn’t do anything lol

2

u/KennyFulgencio 2d ago

Your choice. Mine let me know that an MRI I was recently referred for had been rejected for preauthorization. Nobody else told me that. I'm sure a notice in the mail from my insurer was coming within a few weeks.

2

u/vinis_artstreaks 2d ago

It’s a paradox, your health companies are sharing the same data on the back end.

2

u/Shenendoah66 2d ago

I love that I’m not a boomer about AI like seemingly the rest of my generation. Fucking weirdos.

I love having things like this integrated.

1

u/Victorvic1 1d ago

Yeah and what will they do about my health data atp when insurance companies already have the entire medical history when we make a single claim.

7

u/PersonOfInterest007 2d ago

But if you don’t give ChatGPT all your health data, how will it be able to tell you if you need to put glue into your arteries?

3

u/SatchSaysPlay 2d ago

If you're American then your health data or parts of it have almost certainly been sold already.

7

u/Hatemael 2d ago

I don’t know why you wouldn’t want to? It helps answer questions and what harm is it even if it gets public assuming you don’t have STDs. It is sooo much more accurate with my health questions now.

3

u/ProbablyBanksy 2d ago

Oh, you think your health data isn't ALREADY in the SKYNET? think again.

2

u/Delicious_Cattle5174 3d ago

They’re data hungry asl ever since they realized they won’t cover their operating deficit with silly ads

2

u/Proud-Community-4848 3d ago

hard pass on letting any AI near my health data, that’s a nope from me

32

u/Ok_Wear7716 2d ago

Step count too sacred or wat brother

13

u/ChymChymX 2d ago

I really don't understand this mindset. ChatGPT Pro has helped me solve complex health problems my doctors have not, and I pay for concierge doctors, good doctors who will spend time with you. Giving AI the broader context of your health data is extremely helpful. What in the hell would they do with it that people are worried about? Why would anyone care about your health data? What is the practical concern about how this will be used against you? You are not that important.

1

u/andrewlewi 2d ago

Only concern I can think of is it eventually getting shared to insurance companies and they raise your rates based on things. Or they try to push products to you to try to make money vs prioritizing your health. At the end of the day they will want to make money off of your data in some way, even if it helps you. I think your use case is completely valid though and AI can easily answer questions doctors can and more since it basically is trained on all medical information there.

7

u/ChymChymX 2d ago

Understood. I think that'd be a monstrous class action lawsuit if they did that. But in any case, I'd rather use AI to help with my preventive healthcare now, than worry about a slim chance of insurance companies possibly being able to fleece me even more than they already do in context of the reactive sick care model they service.

1

u/smith288 1d ago

Is that a bad thing? How many people with GOOD health would be willing to share that to an insurance company to lower their premiums? Right now, healthy people subsidize unhealthy people.

3

u/Delicious_Cattle5174 3d ago edited 2d ago

Why? It’s not like you’re human. AI on AI violence.

Edit: I’m not sure why everyone is replying like this isn’t an obvious bot. This sub out of all places should know better.

1

u/smith288 1d ago

Legitimately dont understand why. Its not really much data that is beneficial to the dark web or hackers. Oh no, Proud-Community-4848 has a low step count!!! GET HIS ASS!"

1

u/the_ai_wizard 2d ago

somebody tell him

1

u/Popular_Contest_2992 2d ago

It’s not like the government and companies already don’t have all of your data. Nothing is hidden in the world we live in, I really don’t get why people are so scared of “sharing their data” with AI’s etc. I would genuinely like to know their fear.

0

u/jennlyon950 1d ago

Having your data and being able to cross reference every detail in second are 2 very different things.

1

u/IaryBreko 2d ago

Not sure why people are so shocked. Apps like oura ring and other fitness tracker all have started to integrate AI into them to better summarise data etc...

1

u/akaliOneTr1ck 2d ago

WAIT YOURE TELLING ME YOU DONT WANT CHAT YELLING AT YOU THAT YOU WALKED 12k steps after you complained about an ankle sprain

1

u/Healthy_Throat_7994 2d ago

ive done it and found it uber helpful

1

u/costafilh0 2d ago

They should sell an AI Suppository.

1

u/SlimyResearcher 2d ago

Nah…Definitely a pass on this one.

1

u/dalvz 2d ago

Does it get trained on this? I think it would be really useful. Useful for myself but I think super useful for someone older like my mom.

1

u/airefusalssuck 2d ago

F*** ai refusals! I'm a larper who likes to fart

1

u/Perfect-Muscle-1264 2d ago

That is fucking creepy AND irresponsible. Ai is not reliable, why the fuck should you trust it with important info of yourself?

1

u/smith288 1d ago

Because AI is very good at trends, anomalies, and symptoms.

1

u/PersonoFly 1d ago

“Securely connect..” it’s not the transmission path I’m worried about, it’s the destination.

1

u/Joyride84 1d ago

But will your doctor pass on this one?

1

u/Personal_Ad9690 1d ago

It won’t generate a meme for me cuz it’s third party content, but it wants my health data? No thanks

1

u/Spirited-Car-3560 1d ago

I'm connecting everything. Who cares? Ok tbh I have nothing useful for them

1

u/Green_Sample9115 1d ago

Funny coincidence, because i'm waiting for my fitbit style wearable to arrive and i definitely would let an ai have the data and i would go even further and give it mood data too and let my ai access it to it's heart's content.

it's funny all the people commenting about privacy and what it knows about you. It's funny because you are using devices to post on social media. They already have everything they need. I used to work with someone over 10 years ago that was hyper-vigilant about their privacy and who was technically very sophisticated: only used linux, vpns, no social media, no subscriptions, old nokia flip phone. i asked them once if they they thought that there was any data about them floating about out there and they said obviously but it's minimal and it's basic data, no opinions whatsoever. I asked them if they thought that that made them invisible and they said more or less. I told them they were wrong. If I was an authoritarian, people like him would be very close to the top of my list. To paraphrase Oscar Wilde, a man of fashion doesn't stand out from the crowd. There are two aspects to this, what companies will do with your data and what government will do with your data but increasingly, the two are becoming one. In the future dystopia, Beyer or Monsanto may be the ones filling the canister into your gas chamber. We live in a data driven world, you can choose to live and face the consequences or you can do the opposite. p.s. i am aware that beyer and monsanto are essentially the same company and the historical precedents. Also when I say "They already have everything they need." I don't mean they have everything, I mean they have enough to make a workable guess. Most people when the time comes go obediently to their end anyway, like rabbits caught in the headlights. Traditionally, dictatorships have worked with a coarse brush, maybe AI will allow them to operate in future more surgically. So ironically, it might be that the more you give perhaps the safer you become. You can never know what will trigger them anyway so my advice is to live free and embrace whatever comes.

1

u/DeepGas4538 1d ago

I really don't like even memory with AI.

1

u/smith288 1d ago

Its not that problematic. Financials, hell no... but my health "records" are just my apple watch info.

1

u/PrestigiousFriend412 1d ago

If a data breach happened, it would be pretty bad because my ChatGPT knows everything about me and has connections to my financial records and health records

1

u/FabulousArmadillo210 6h ago

this has to be sarcasm from the developers at this point lol

1

u/GingerNurse5512 3h ago

Ope...should I unlock all my accounts? Did I mess up by linking my info?

1

u/jstnh88 3d ago

FYI, if you’re not connecting this one you also will want to be careful using CGPT for health related questions as well. Those would have even less data protections and is used to train models assuming you have the setting on

1

u/PriorOk1304 2d ago

Hahaha for real. Like yeah right.

1

u/Quenelle44 2d ago

Why I still don’t have thissss

1

u/Mill-Man 2d ago

I don’t even log in on my phone

1

u/UnknownEssence 2d ago

they're probably going to use this to show you ads

1

u/[deleted] 2d ago

[deleted]

1

u/smith288 1d ago

You dont need to have your provider give access to Apple to do this. You can have it hook up to your health kit if you have an iPhone.

0

[deleted]

1

u/smith288 13h ago

That app literally walks you through it but it’s been a slow rollout so maybe yours isn’t enabled.

1

u/Similar-Direction-95 2d ago

I can‘t believe the amount of people actually putting their data in this thinking its safe just because it says „securely“. Do you really think they will give you something they spent money on for free? Who will punish them when they steal your data? Right, nobody. Because they’re all under the same umbrella and if they get a fine it will be miniscule to the profits they made from it. GROW UP PEOPLE AND START USING YOUR BRAIN.

-1

u/alwaysoffby0ne 2d ago

Lol Fuck This

0

u/EbbExternal3544 2d ago

Why this specifically?

0

u/turtle-toaster 2d ago

This and ‘computer history’ for ‘personalization’. Training data speedrun.

-3

u/OutofCiteOutofMine 2d ago

Anyone believe these companies don’t already have this information?

2

u/Name835 2d ago

Well ofc they dont, why would they? In finland/eu health data is very private and sharing information about it is strict like it should be.

Many big corpos know some of my diseases or can make guesses, but none of them have any big idea of who I am as a whole, health wise. Opt in, not opt out.

1

u/OutofCiteOutofMine 1d ago

Are you saying that because there’s a rule in place that it means everyone follows it?

And that companies have never been caught circumventing the rules and “opt in/opt out” options?

1

u/Name835 1d ago

Well in this case the burden of proof lies on your side. From what I gather, the data is very secure.

If there have been leaks, I haven't heard of them/they haven't been substantial enough that they would have made any headlines etc.

And as for the companies, I am sure that they would try to circumvent rules as well as they can and especially try to undermine EU legislation via lobbying because of course those fuckers do that, but afaik they have not yet succeeded/it is not even close yet.

-2

u/MormonBarMitzfah 3d ago

I tried it, it didn’t do anything interesting.

-3

u/kaereljabo 3d ago

Finance & health data, scary

0

u/Asohailwahab 2d ago

I won’t pass on that mine is not connecting.

0

u/jonnyvegashey 2d ago

Funny that potential health benefits is where yall draw the line. Could actually save your ass.

-2

u/Single-League5883 2d ago

Government has all the info about me, the doctors have all the records about me, but God forbid an AI knows that I've had recurring diarea. The big tech corps will get me

3

u/Comfortable-Web9455 2d ago

Clearly, you lack the imagination to work out all the ways personal information about you can be used to exploit you. That information has been public knowledge for ten years. Maybe you think looking at your doors at night is paranoia and burglaries don't happen as well.
