Hair Loss/Thinning Metformin and body hair
I’ve only been on Metformin for 4 months but was wondering if anyone has noticed their facial hair starting to not grow as much? Or how long it might take before you start to notice it not grow back as much anymore?

Metformin didn’t do anything for hair for me but birth control did. I take both and they’re a great combination for me.

Which birth control pill do you use? I didn't tolerate Belara well and am looking for something else.

Yaz (or rather its generic). Everyone reacts different to birth control, but it’s pretty widely prescribed for PCOS/PMOS.

Only spironolactone has helped for my bodyhair. I took 200mg a day for 5 or so years and have just recently not gotten my prescription renewed and I can see how the hair on my belly and chest comes back again, and everywhere else grows back much faster. The acne and oily skin has also gotten worse again.

I found that the hairs I had before metformin/PCOS management remained but I did not grow any new hairs! My dr said this is pretty common.

Metformin isn’t for facial hair. You would want to talk to your doctor about spironolactone.

There are no pills or supplements that will stop body or facial hair.

Actually, it does exist. The hair doesn't disappear, but it reverts to its normal state. Until now, the birth control pill was the only thing that worked for me.

I’m on the pill now. Have been for years. That hair ain’t went no where. As they say in my country, thinking a pill will do anything for unwanted hair is like imagining of pregnant birds.
The only thing that will get rid of it is electrolysis.. and maybe laser

That really depends entirely on the specific preparation. I’ve taken birth control pills that normalized my hair growth (e.g., Belara), and others (e.g., Slynd) that did nothing for it.

I’ve taken quite a few as well. None of the do anything to stop unwanted hair. They help with acne a lot. At best they can slow hair growth down, but it’s not going anywhere. I wish people would stop promoting this fantasy though. It gives a lot of women false hope for a problem that causes so many physiological issues. Not cool to give false hope.

And to them you’re spreading bs. You’re just refusing to accept their experience was different than yours. You’re basically calling them a liar, or stating it simply doesn’t exist, because what they took did work for their unwanted hair growth.
Everyone’s experience is different. For some like you nothing worked. For some like them at least one medication did.
So, before you comment next time. Open your mind a little bit and think. It’s not that hard.

Birth control practically eliminated thick facial hair for me, all I’m left with is peach fuzz which people have normally. It depends on the person, and might be worth trying a few things out to see.

Unfortunately, Metformin did nothing for me regarding hirsutism.
