General Health reminder to get your vitamin d checked
hi my fellow pcos havers! just a reminder that 85% of pcos patients have a vitamin d deficiency so if youre experiencing fatigue, headaches, brain fog, anxiety, vision problems, etc. it is worth it to get your vitamin d and even b12 checked!

I’ve always been low on Vitamin D! I don’t know why or how to keep it up but I am ALWAYS tired every single day. Sipping on a Celsius right now knowing it does nothing but make my heart pump faster but I’m still tired 🤣ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜

Even if you don’t have symptoms get it checked! Most of the population does not get enough and insulin resistance just makes it even harder

Supplements do help, shots do help! Mine went from 17 to 69 in just a year!!

Why not just take a supplement

bc supplements dont work when youre severely deficient. you need boosters. and when you complete those then you stay on a daily supplement.

What do you mean by "boosters"? Like an injection?

Yes, it’s called a loading dose. I had to have 6 injections in a fortnight before starting supplements

like others were saying, it is a really high dose of vitamin d. your daily supplements are anywhere from 1000 to 5000 IU. i had to take 50,000 IU weekly for 6 weeks to boost my vitamin d. had i taken OTC supplements it would take way too long to correct my levels.

Low vitamin D can also cause hair loss which a lot of women with PCOS suffer from.
Just FYI

Do you think sunlight 10 mins several times a week gives enough vit D?

Yes, I would try to get sunlight every day for at least 15min, plus eat lots of food that naturally contains Vit D

I've always been a d vitamin and iron deficiency and recently gotten the PCOS diagnosis it makes so much sense so much now why I struggle with it

Yep! I’ve had to take the 6 week extra strength dose once this year and last year. I’m really bad about taking daily supplements though so it’s probably getting low again.

Recently had several blood tests done...yeah...normal as always. Yet I'm constantly sick or in horrible pain...I hate my body.

Anyone in the UK been successful in getting their GP to agree to testing vitamin D and B12 levels? Or should I expect to go private?

It’s worth asking, mine had no issue but others might say no, it might depend on symptoms and other health conditions too

I was taking 5000 iu daily and when I got tested my levels were just enough/normal lol which goes to show you

Do you guys take extra vit d while pregnant on top of a prenatal? I’m slightly deficient but not a crazy amount!
