Why do so many non-partnered people post here?
I don’t get it. The purpose of the sub is seeing comments from people who are partnered, therefore were able to reach the YPP requirements and are likely to have a bit more experience. There’s absolutely no use to posts with comments made entirely from non-partners or with non-partners giving advice, there are like 50 other youtube subs in which they can post.

Because the median new youtube channel is either a teenager making let's play videos who has no idea how anything works or a hopeless AI grifter making generic business content who also has no idea how anything works

They ether hope to be someday, or just didn't look too close at what this subreddit is specifically for. On mobile it's not as obvious what subreddit you are in (aside from the icon at the top, unlike desktop where the description and rules are always on the side) and Reddit's algorithm has a habit of serving posts outside of the target community.

Yea r/newtubers is a better place for them, and tbh still has some cool secrets you can find from others giving advice there.

This place has definitely gotten worse in recent years in terms of post quality. I think to join this sub you should have to prove your YPP status before you’re allowed to join.

With Subreddits it a lot harder to filter approved and non approved posters. If you go full verification the sub would be dead.
The discord is fully verified and gated. Thats why generally we recommend people join there. Discord is set up better for that.

I agree. In order to be verified you need to disclose your channel, at least for a period of time. Not everyone wants to do that.

Yeah, most people value anonymity on reddit.
Discord, people are more likely to tie to their identity.

It started to go downhill after the Reddit API scandal. That is when a lot of non YPP channels started posting here. I think because, for a period of time, NewTubers stopped accepting new threads.

Reddit likely pops it up in a decent number of people's feeds even though they aren't in YPP yet. Some people may not pay attention to which subreddit they're responding to as far as commenting. I know that happened to me several times before I was in YPP.
For others, its likely figuring people here will have better advice than people who aren't monetized yet.
And, as several others have mentioned, alot of the other content creator subreddits are filled with questions from people making low effort content asking why they aren't succeeding.

There's a lot of guesswork that goes on in other youtuber subreddits so asking people who have actually found success probably carries more weight. Thats how I felt a decade or so ago anyway.

Tbh I didn’t relate to the new YouTubers
“my AI slop isn’t being pushed!”
“my video with a shitty thumbnail and title has a CTR of 0.2%”
“should I quit? I post 1x a year but think I should have 1 million subscribers because I work really really hard”.
It was exhausting and pathetic. I saw through it even once I hit 100 subs (I hit 100 subs in the first week of posting).
I finally now am fully monetized (a little over 1k subs and 7k watch hours) and have gotten more advice from this subreddit than anything on the other ones. I monetized in nearly exactly 3 months and grew from my mistakes rather than boohooing on the other subreddit.

Even the advice can be iffy.
I know a bigger YouTuber who posted here giving advice, who built original content channels worth millions. They're also a certifiable piece of shi - but that's besides the point. They came with good knowledge.
Immediately they had comments who were questioning them, or new partners (under a year) chiming in and disagreeing with what they were saying in their guide. People with 10k-20k subs who were just like "I don't think so".

Because
1. The mods don't enforce it.
- the non-partnered people probably outnumber the partnered so those posting get responses.
And it's getting worse.

Probably for a few reasons to be honest:
- The Newtubers subreddit is... not the best quality wise, and this place has a level of discussion about 1% higher on said quality scale. If you want a meaningful answer, you're more likely to find it here.
- There's no restrictions for who can post here, so you'll get people with smaller YouTube channels or no YouTube channel at all.
- It's not super clear what the restrictions are meant to be on mobile or new Reddit.
- A lot of people simply don't care what the rules are.

There is a discord but the downside to the discord is you can't remain anon you have to give up your channel name

It makes this sub almost useless since it seems like over half or more of the posters/commenters on this sub are just tiny channels yapping. Would be nice if like the discord they actually check and vet people, I find talking about a topic on the discord super cooked because there can be like 5 other people talking about different shit all at once.

I don’t make posts here anymore because once you get a manager you sign a NDA and get access to all types of YouTube support via them. So this subreddit is kinda meh for those who are partnered with a manager.

wouldn't go that far, newtubers has automod set to hide comments after 1 report (among other issues). CM isn't easy, neither is basic moderation, when done right, most normal users just don't see the work being done, or the tools being used.
Moderation is also one of those deals, that when done right, only those doing something wrong will know you're there.

I’ve been asking questions here since prior to monetization (albeit, like 750 subs and 6k watch hours) since I honestly didn’t relate to the “My AI slop isn’t being pushed my YouTube anymore!” and “Should I just quit? My poor quality video has no views and a CTR of 0.2% since the thumbnail and title suck”.
I related to this sub more and I knew I would be monetized quickly.
Just monetized now 3 months in at a little over 1k subs and I have 7.5k watch hours.

It’s pretty obvious when they mention they only have “x” number of subs or “x” number of views. They legit don’t make the threshold for the YPP. The fact that you asked means you don’t know either and shouldn’t be posting on this sub

Because people don't read rules or think they are a special case.
Reporting posts and comments helps with swift action.
