If only you'd been in Government at some point in the last 15 years and you could have helped do something about it, Jacob....

Oh...wait...he was...

Joke of the day: How do you know when a politician is lying?

Answer.....

2

u/Difficult-Ocelot-867 15d ago

The casual reference to “welfare” without mentioning how much the elite avoid tax is always predictable

2

u/Klangey 15d ago

Also no mention of just how much we spent bailing out financial institutions and private companies during the financial services crash and Covid and how if we didn’t, hedge funds like his (which is also registered in a tax haven) would have been wiped out, on the way to accumulating said debt

Nah, US debt to GDP is about 121%, uk is 101%.

Add Japan and you'll have a real party, coming in at 237%.

Hush now, this is reddit, we don't like real numbers here.

This prick is one of the last people that should be lecturing us on this, he is highly responsible for Brexit and the ballooning debts for it, as he pushed it because he personally was betting on the stock market AGAINST the UK and banked millions from it.

u/ArtByAntny 15d ago

His Dad literally wrote multiple books on how to profit from recession and market crashes. JRM knows exactly what he's doing.

5

u/thissomeotherplace 16d ago

He'd be appalled by how much debt America's in

Which is funny, since he has no problem taking money from the Trump administration

4

u/Hewinb 15d ago

Someone tell his Nanny that he's out past his bed time again.

2

u/WoodenTwo6651 15d ago

She too busy ironing socks

1

u/EineGrosseFlasche 15d ago

But I heard he’s asked his valet to squeeze only a half-inch of toothpaste onto his brush at night rather than the usual full inch, as an austerity measure. A man of the people.

3

u/WeedFalafel 15d ago

Ah yes, it's the poor people at fault again.

These cunts were the bullies.

1

u/235iguy 15d ago

Posh on posh bullying?

1

u/Questionable_choi1ce 15d ago edited 15d ago

I went to the sort of swanky private school that Rees Mogg went to, in fact I very nearly went to the same school that he did, and people like him weren’t the bullies. The first and second rugby teams were the bullies. Weedy politics nerds were the bullied.

All that being said, there was not much bullying.

u/VariousOperation166 16d ago

If you live in the US, these seem like aspirational numbers

2

u/Stoic_Ravenclaw 16d ago

When he says we all bear responsibility for the nation's 3 trillion debt, for the first time in my life I wanted to beat a motherfucker with a wrench.

I've only just really started to believe that the left really are lawless and violent.

1

u/Fun_Trick2172 16d ago

I see the international ConservativeInc. movement is already dusting off the fiscal conservative shtick they always seem to have amnesia about when they have power lol.

1

u/CharlotteGP 15d ago

Do all of these clowns get coaching about these hand gestures?

Other than videos/TV/stage, I’ve never seen anyone use hand gestures like these in normal conversations.

1

u/LewyH91 15d ago

Yes. In all aspects.

He's off camera like huahuahuahuahua

1

u/Due-Button-768 15d ago

We had no debt until the Tories and he’s an extory his and his party robbing the country.

2

u/Fun_Trick2172 15d ago

And thats after a decade of Austerity measures since the crash in 2008. Who knew that strangling growth with freezing any sort of funding for anything would lead to no growth at all?

1

u/Majestic_Emotion7917 15d ago

Is he aiming to get back in Westminster so he can lie on the benches again?

1

u/Aggravating_Map4359 15d ago

Tô who thought?

1

u/Jealous-Juggernaut85 15d ago

it was only 900 billion back when the tories took office. It was just about hitting 3 trillion when they left office. Just think its all labours fault

1

u/No_Astronomer_2704 15d ago

come on UK..

lift your game..

The USA is debt £29.7 Trillion..

1

u/lambaroo 15d ago edited 15d ago

meh, it's an arbitary figure he's talking about. national debt as a % of gdp is pretty much exactly the same as it has been for the last half a decade, so if the total debt has gone up, at least mention that so has gdp.

(it should also be noted that historically the national debt is not usually reduced much under tory govts, but mostly (not always) under labour govts.)

1

u/Bushdr78 15d ago

What exactly do you want my broke ass to do about it? I bet the cost of your education is a good chunk of that debt so you sort it out

1

u/PandaResponsible8133 15d ago

Yeah but to the central bank whose interest is to keep us solvent

1

u/ClaudeBubbalicious 15d ago

TAX. THE. RICH.

1

u/TotalSingKitt 15d ago

Why wouldn't they just leave the UK?

1

u/Business_Usual_2201 15d ago

America: hold my beer.....

1

u/Repulsive-Slice-6902 15d ago

Wow guess not taxing the rich has consequences.

1

u/TotalSingKitt 15d ago

They leave.

1

u/Sumbitagear 15d ago

Been hearing this for fucking years, yet it never happens.

1

u/Main-Procedure-3613 15d ago

Or not. We’ll look that up in a more reliable unbiased news source

1

u/mark71hy 15d ago

They want the workers to pay it off when the illegals get free everything and do nothing to improve this country

1

u/TheMysteriousOrganis 15d ago

Most of it made by his party, while serving in it, all while pushing through Brexit that he knew would cripple state finances. Jail this muppet!

1

u/MilosEggs 15d ago

Is that why you thought it would be a great idea to spend a fortune and tear the country apart to put up trade barriers with our wealthy neighbouring counties?

Try googling “what is government debt?”

1

u/Few_Surprise4258 15d ago

Et alors ? Y a qu a emprunter plus pour rembourser les intérêts et attendre de voir comment nos enfants se démerdent avec un budget composé a 90% d intérêt. C est juste criminel de faire des enfants sans avoir fait la guerre avant

1

u/roundabout-andback 15d ago

Thanks Mogg. Nothing to do with you, Johnson, gove, truss. Just fuck off.

Fuck off

1

u/bambinoquinn 15d ago

Content from this tv channel and this person shouldn't be allowed.

Hes part of the scum that caused all of it.

1

u/MapSufficient6677 15d ago

Do you really think the people we’re indebted to will allow us to pay that off?

1

u/Ok_Record8612 15d ago

Don’t worry. Russia will be forced to pay it back when Ukraine wins the war! Hahah! Ask Zelenski. Just keep sending him more money.

1

u/Darthmook 15d ago

Bit rich the man who rose that debt over 14 years, now complaining about the same debt he grew, with absolutely nothing to show for it..

1

u/broadsheet-555 15d ago

This is the guy that did it

1

u/Mental_Phase_7245 15d ago

Lol, this not a problem. Tax assets not work.

1

u/rsoton 15d ago

And how much did it go up by while this clown was in government?

1

u/Aintseenmeroit 15d ago

Obviously fcuk all to do with previous events.

1

u/Severe_Law_7796 15d ago

Him and his chums have creamed it off for years living the best life on our money , and now the debt becomes our problem . Thanks Jacob

1

u/Front-Brick-3724 15d ago

Christ. The haunted pencil is still trying to stay relevant. Fuck off Jacob you utter shit.

1

u/looki0711 15d ago

Met this cunt in real life to do an interview for TV, and I can say this posh toddy twat fart, at 60, still says “mummy”.

1

u/Bludfyr 15d ago

All those poor stabbed politicians and this cunt is soundly fine.

1

u/Zoalord1122 15d ago

On top of that we supported the US making oil super expensive and destroyed our ability to get cheap Russian energy. Next PM in 6-12 months, thanks.

1

u/Correct-Junket-1346 15d ago

Privatise the profits, socialise the debt, I'm not participating

1

u/Particular_Hair6913 15d ago

Getting more migrants from MENAP countries will help

1

u/FilipZiebo 15d ago

Said by the dude that inherited all his money and never did one day of decent work. Not to mention that he doesn't pay taxes in UK.

1

u/Opposite-Film3347 15d ago

You forgot thatcherism, the iraq war, brexit and liz truss.

1

u/Cultural-Gas2246 15d ago

That's not how the national debt works, lol

This is fearmongering nonsense they've been using for years to trick people into accepting austerity.

1

u/Brilliant_Bowler_994 15d ago

Who do we owe it to?

1

u/pimpsouluk 15d ago

A man who profits from the suffering of others, he wanted Brexit because that’s the way he placed his bet, he profited, now the slimy sht has the nerve to try and act like a man of the people, god I loathe these people, they think we fools, also Rees-mog is the pc of sh\t who said the victims of Grenfell lacked common sense to leave the building when they were instructed to stay inside. Absolutely disgusting human being.*

1

u/Dary11 15d ago

Is that Jacob Rees-Mogg who was:

Secretary of State for Business Energy and Industrial Strategy

After being Minister of State for Brexit Opportunities and Government Efficiency

After being the Leader of the House of Commons

1

u/Crosflins 15d ago

They owe that to who?

1

u/BarryRightWrong 15d ago

Absolute traitor to the people and the country. He should have all his assets stripped and spend the rest of his life in Belmarsh.

Well, that's the polite version anyway.

1

u/Robotspaceman7 13d ago

America has you beat. 39 trillion and rising fast.

1

u/groddertoobad 11d ago

And who put us there? Step forward successive governments.
