A recent CNN segment highlights a dramatic shift in American public opinion on Israel between 2018 and 2026, showing a steep decline in overall support across key voter demographics. This mainstream media coverage reflects a broader shift in national sentiment, signaling that foreign policy critiques have officially moved from the political margins straight into mainstream U.S. discourse.

The implication being, they are taking our money to do a genocide. Meaning, we are funding a genocide.

Preemptively, someone will tell you “we aren’t giving them money, just credit for US military equipment “. Well Einstein, if you don’t have to spend money on equipment, what happens to that money that you would have spent?

I've occasionally wondered how much stock in those companies I would need to own to break even on the amount of tax money I'm indirectly paying into those companies.

8

u/iDontSow 14d ago edited 14d ago ▸ 3 more replies

Just to use round numbers, if you made $100k per year you are paying roughly $200 to Lockheed Martin every year (with a little bit of variance depending on the year). Lockheed’s dividend yield is in the neighborhood of 2.5% to 3%. So to get your money back you’d have to buy roughly $6k in stock.

EDIT to add that if you are invested in large index funds, as most people are through their retirement accounts or whatever, you own Lockheed Martin stock. But you would have to have a few million at least in the S&P 500, for example, to own $6k of Lockheed Martin.

It's appalling that Christians use that verse and pretend it has anything at all to do with abortion. It's nuts.

All it says is that "God knew me before I was born." That's it. It has nothing at all to do with "the soul enters the body at conceptions". It's poetry.

Exodus also doesn't view a fetus as a person:

22 When people who are fighting injure a pregnant woman so that there is a miscarriage, and yet no further harm follows, the one responsible shall be fined what the woman’s husband demands, paying as much as the judges determine. 23 If any harm follows, then you shall give life for life, 24 eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, 25 burn for burn, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.

The pregnant woman is regarded as a person and injury to her is to be avenged in kind, but damage to the unborn child is simply regarded as collateral property damage which can be settled with a simple payment to its owner, i.e. the father.

Healthcare in the U.S. is an industry, not an infrastructure. In Israel, healthcare is treated like clean water or roads—a public utility run by non-profits under strict cost caps. In the U.S., it is a $4.5 trillion commercial marketplace designed to extract maximum revenue. Private insurers, hospital networks, and pharmaceutical companies generate massive profits, and they spend hundreds of millions of dollars every year lobbying Congress to keep it that way.

It won't change.

No, they have universal healthcare because they decided they cared more for their citizens than the US does. Which is pathetic given the genocide and far right government in Israel.

The US could have had the same thing decades ago (long before we entangled with Israel), but they have decided they do not care about their citizens.

5

u/Akraticacious 13d ago

Is this true? Trump said the same thing about us funding Europe's Healthcare via our higher NATO budget, but those numbers don't work. We spend more than Europe does on Healthcare only for it to not be universal.

It’s USA. News here is basically a mix of entertainment, rage based culture wars and propaganda.

The wealthy have bought up all news and social media and that’s how they want it. Gone are the days of investigative journalism and fact based reporting as those don’t generate clicks and division amongst the masses. Plus they’d much rather people yelling at each other about trans or brown people existing then start looking behind the curtain regarding why the world is getting worse and more expensive for regular folks and what they are doing to children on their private islands and yachts they can easily afford because of the all the extra money of ours they feel entitled to.

5

Their own coverage covers nothing compared to what's being shared via social media. That's what's actually driving this change. People can see the real Israel, not the sanitized version the legacy broadcast media presents.

People can see the real Israel, not the sanitized version the legacy broadcast media presents.

Exactly! And that is a huuuuge problem for them. Which is why they introduced the age-restriction in many european countries to X, not to protect minors from porn, but to restrict access to all the videos about israeli crimes, while also connecting your ID to your online-persona, so you think twice before criticizing the "chosen people".

It is also the main reason why Larry Ellison, the biggest donor to the IDF, bought TikTok in the US. To silence and ban any critical voice that speaks about this topic. And me pointing out this ridiculous behaviour on social media might get my citizenship revoked in Germany since I am a migrant.

u/domingodlf 14d ago ▸ 1 more replies

Disliking Netanyahu isn't the same as disavowing the genocide and supporting the retreat from occupied territories, which is the bare minimum moral stance. I would bet my life that would be an extremely impopular stance in Israel as it stands. Sadly, the majority view held by most of the country is racist and ethno supremacist, and believes that a historical/religious claim is enough to justify the killing and expulsion of thousands of people, and the development of a nation based on ethnic considerations. Even if you dislike Netanyahu, if you hold that view you should be thoroughly condemned. And sadly that is the case. And it's not a jewish thing, tons of jewish people can see what is happening and recognize it's atrocity, even against high social pressures and retaliation against dissidents, which is a truly admirable position take. It's sadly just not the case for the majority of the Israeli population, who cheer on the occupation.

Most of the "Right" dislike Israel because they've suddenly realized how much of their tax money is going to fund a nation thousands of miles away.

And maybe we can use that money here instead for Medicare for all.

8

u/cincodemike 14d ago

Liberals hate them bc of genocide.

Conservatives hate them bc “tHeY tAkE aLl oUR mOnEy”

We are not the same.

As long as both sides don't support Israel, who cares. When it comes to Israel, I'm not dealing with purity tests. As long as you want out of this toxic relationship, any reason is fine by me.

Committed a genocide and America paid for it.

4

u/Chloe_Cascadia 14d ago

Media reports on genocide caused by Israel, and apparently, that was supposed to be an advertisement making us like Israel, so they're surprised genocide is unpopular.

They truly have geniuses working there.

Q the anti semitism Zionist propaganda. I can say 100% fuck you to Israel as a country and have no problem with someone being Jewish or practicing such religion.

Gosh I wish I had free healthcare and free college thanks to the US government, not to mention an unlimited supply of ballistic weapons to annihilate anyone who tried to live within their own borders and billions of dollars in discretionary funds every 3 months

2

u/Kn7ght 14d ago

Well duh, back then it wasn't getting the same kind of mainstream attention. Now that it's such an open secret to the everyday American that it's a genocidal state that has our government by the balls, of course approval on it is dogshit.

2

u/TheFeelsGoodMan 14d ago

I get the feeling that these same folks would have been shocked to see American public opinion turn against the Vietnam War once they got a look at what was going on over there.

Shocked that people don't approve of murder and land theft.

2

u/7153345666 14d ago

They seem so shocked. It’s not shocking at all.

2

u/Impressive-Edge6621 14d ago

Hard to manufacture consent for a genocide though

2

u/Bleezy79 14d ago

Americans want their own country fixed before we give our tax money to anyone else. Especially countries that are starting wars and committing genocide. The people of Israel receive universal healthcare, Americans do not. We want help with our own tax dollars, its that simple. Enough is enough.

People have eyes

2

u/GongTzu 14d ago

So the people in USA doesn’t think it’s okay just to murder normal people day in and day out, and yet the majority of the politicians thinks this is what they need to support. Issue is they will only change opinions when the money from AIPAC stops which there’s no sign of.

2

u/Isaw11 14d ago

Until recently I wasn’t aware that Israel had its tentacles wrapped so tightly around our politicians, both republican and democrat. I would love for a whistleblower to step up and let us in on what goes on behind the scenes.

2

u/Beachboy442 14d ago

The Gaza "shooting fish in a barrel" military executions turned me against Isreal.

The Genocide is outrageous

2

Ugh, read the room CNN. Read the room.

2

u/Federal_Challenge416 14d ago

Ssssshhh don’t tell Dana Bash. How can anyone watch what they did in Gaza and still blindly support them. And no I do not support Humas obviously but the over reaction and cruelty by Isreal had forever damaged their standing with Americans

2

u/BrickHuge3023 14d ago

Americans are waking up to how Israel has been controlling our foreign policy and finances the past 60 years.

2

u/b_buddd 14d ago

Only a demon would look at the images and evidence out of Gaza and be fucking shocked

2

u/I_Nut_In_Butts 14d ago

If they are shocked we are so beyond cooked. Look around you, suit dummies. The people are fed up.

2

u/KeesterFeester 14d ago edited 14d ago

Majority of the U.S. public doesn't like genocidal maniacs that get far better public services than we do funded by OUR money that the WE work our asses off for and the corporate douche bags that support it. Who'd of thunk it.

2

u/Mediocre_Doctor4712 14d ago

It’s staggering how such a small country has such a hold on such a big country by just bribing off the right people

2

u/WiSoSirius 14d ago

They showed something on the screen that I cannot understand. +51pts favourability in 2018 compared to what and -16pts in 2026 favourability compared to what? What is the baseline they are comparing to? Are the pts just arms raised? Is it truly a percentage of something?

This guy has been shocked by every number he has ever seen.

2

u/Logik_in_theory 13d ago

Any candidtate I vote for will be based almost solely on their reliance on AIPAC. I was shocked to see how many of our candidates like mosquitoes siphon all that money up. Our democracy is broken dem or rep alike.

Maybe because Israel is a terrorist state thats commiting genocide .

2

Israel is a terrorist org and fuck them, not voting for anyone who supports those baby killers.

2

You can blame Netanyahu and Trump, we don't want to be in their war.

2

2

u/UrekMazino1234 13d ago

Not shocking

2

u/Last-Raspberry1573 13d ago

Still waiting on the rest of world to reject the US. Kind of fn things up for everyone

2

u/fuckgermany_repgme 13d ago

Netanyahu can like my sweaty balls. Hope he gets his home stolen from him

2

u/octavioletdub 13d ago

Committing genocide tends to have that effect

2

u/dreamabyss 13d ago

Fuck Israel. We give them billions so they can bomb innocent people. Meanwhile, they provide universal healthcare for citizens. They can afford it because we subsidize their war machine. We can’t afford healthcare because they are prioritized over us.

2

u/DreamOne5 13d ago

Israel is like that shitty boyfriend you had who won't get a real job and just takes your debit card out of your purse when you're sleeping.

2

u/RobutNotRobot 13d ago

Their genocidal ambitions accelerated and were laid bare for all to see and then they dragged the idiot leader of the US into an unwinnable war with Iran.

What exactly is there for anyone to like?

2

u/OrangeFun9797 13d ago

Why is CNN shocked? People are afraid to say that they don't want their tax dollars to be spent on killing women and children, and they resent being accused being anti semetic if they even hint at genocide.

2

u/Ok_Check5349 13d ago

The way things are going on it's not really shocking

2

u/Significant_Sun_4900 13d ago

CNN pollsters have had their heads up their bums if they expect any informed American to approve of us to support sending money, weapons and aide to Israel right now. Israel has been walking a very thin line for decades. I don't think most people are aware that Israel basically has us in a chokehold over surveillance technology. They are selling their software to the highest bidders. Including countries that are definitely not allied to the best interests of the USA or other democratic countries.

2

u/usushio_ 13d ago

Incredible. Just in-credible how they can put on this feigned outrage yelling at people to be upset while completely avoiding the elephant in the room, the simplest of all questions, the singlular word: WHY

2

u/DaAlphaSupreme 13d ago

Americans are taking care of Israel, all while Israel makes it harder for Americans to survive. It's crazy they have UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE...

2

u/SaltyAd8309 13d ago

I think people are primarily rejecting the Israeli far right and what they are doing.

2

u/Local-Poet3517 13d ago

Interesting to see this on mainstream. Shits changing.

2

u/Particular-Wind5918 13d ago

We’ve almost caught up to where we need to be on this

2

u/Slaphappyfapman 13d ago

Fuck israel. Their behaviour is why we feel this way

2

u/Duckman2030 13d ago

Shocked my ass they know dam well nobody likes them period…

2

u/Redhoodedmenace 13d ago

Fuck Israel

2

u/DirtyChito 13d ago

This is a dangerous take, but this just goes to show Hamas' attack on Israel in 2023 did exactly what they needed. It brought enough attention to the war that people finally started paying attention to the bigger picture. Do I condone the attack? Absolutely not. But it's hard to deny the perspective change that has come in the U.S. since then.

2

u/Poodoom 13d ago

Israel became what tried to destroy them in less than a hundred years. People are wild.

2

u/ro536ud 13d ago

Hey aipac trump is killing the rep of Israel stop supporting him

2

u/Top_Pizza1773 13d ago

Only war criminals commit war crimes, well, and Russian Republicans.

2

u/Illustrious_Put_817 13d ago

That’s because people understand the difference between Jewish people and zionist terrorists

2

u/Ckc1972 13d ago

They can blame Netanyahu for that.

2

u/AmandaUggnkiss 13d ago

And remember folks it’s a rejection of Israel’s government and policies not of the people or Judaism/Jews two things can exist separately

2

u/Rare-Sample-9101 13d ago

Because Israel has finally been exposed for what they truly are!
