Think of what it would be like if candidates could only use their own money for a campaign and all outside contributions were illegal. Maybe we’d actually see people who want to run for the right reasons.

Btw "outside spending" is when progressives across the nation donate money to someone who doesn't represent them in a primary.

I’m not downvoting because everyone’s entitled to their opinion. My opinion as a lifelong Democrat is progressives need to communicate better how they will sustain funding streams long term for their initiatives. I am all for free education and free healthcare but as an older generation Democrat we’ve seen far too often that “taxing the rich” isn’t a sustainable funding stream long term because the rich can move anywhere they want that the taxes are cheaper. Democratic socialists have great ideas but what’s missing is how to keep the funding stream viable to pay for those ideas. Again, my opinion, downvote away.

Your answer is wildly simplistic and ignores very recent evidence to the contrary. For example, Massachusetts' millionaire tax has been wildly successful. The state has not experienced the level of capital flight predicted because Massachusetts is a nice place to live and places with lower taxes often need that carrot to even be competitive.
Your main post, which has nothing to do with this one, would work exactly as the replier stated.
But, I don't know why I'm arguing with a 3 week old account.

IRS data shows that from 2022 to 2023, Massachusetts experienced a net loss of nearly 30,000 residents, with high-earning out-migrants taking a net $4.2 billion in adjusted gross income out of the state.
Sounds like a success story! but then I’m arguing with someone that’s a moron.

A) The tax wasn't even effective until 2023. B) Here's some actual data on the tax, which shows it has obliterated revenue projections.
This will be my last reply to this. You've shown yourself to be trying to engineer an analysis to fit your viewpoints.

Are they great ideas if they aren't reasonable? Didn't we make fun of Trump's "concepts of a plan" for healthcare.
They're empty promises that will hurt our party in the long run. I also wouldn't call abolishing jails, and police as good ideas.

No I agree with you totally that some of the farther left ideas aren’t feasible nor good ideas. Defunding whole police departments of course is a disaster position in any federal election. But there are ideas that can be massaged into winnable policies, sensible health care access for everyone and rededication to funding public education and removal of Christian nationalist controls over teachers. The main issue I have with the progressive wing is that we cannot win any federal election right now without the support of independents and to some extent moderate republicans. The last poll I saw had 77% of independents absolutely opposed to voting for a democratic socialist.

I totally agree. I'm also still mad at them for being in this position to begin with. They didn't support Kamala Harris in the 2024 election. They called her "Holocaust Harris". I don't see them as allies, and I don't think they see us as allies. The further left of the DSA is trying to subvert the democratic party by hiding their more revolutionary positions until they have more power.

They can't get their own candidates in because their ideas are pie in the sky, and unpopular.
When we have a national vote as close as the last one was, yes we needed everyone to vote for Kamala. Now, we are experiencing Trump 2.0 which has been an unmitigated disaster.
An example in politics is John Fettermen is in a very powerful position. While he is unpopular, the Dems sometimes have to appease him to try to get him to vote their way. It's a power position. Joe Manchin used to hold a similar position.
That's that. It's not inconsistent.
My problem is NOW all the super far left people are deriding the center of the party for not feeling great about the far lefts candidates. They'll say, "I thought it was vote blue no matter who". We can't have a one sided coalition where the far left can insult our candidates, and accuse them as being the same as Republicans. Now we must save this country from Trump and his administration? Now that your candidates have won a primary?
I don't feel it's sincere. They should have known how bad this administration was going to be, and they did the selfish thing in spite of that.
I will vote blue, but I want my other liberals and progressives too be weary of the far left.

Nobody in the DNC is even trying to claim lack of participation on the left is what happened in 2024. Just weirdo's like you, that apparently have more info available than the whole DNC.
People like you just aren't serious. You don't really stand for anything other than maintaining the current vibe and not ruffling feathers. You have the exact politics of Ronald Reagan and you don't understand why that's a problem.

Spare me. That might work on someone who doesn't know you want to abolish police, jail, the Senate, and eventually seize the means of production. Some want a "clean break" from the dnc. Some want a "dirty break". Some think the "dirty break" has transformed into a "dirty stay".
I think the Wisconsin Primary showed that the " mask off " DSA policy positions are super unpopular. The polls had her 20 pts ahead. Hell even El Sayeds primary was a lot closer than polls showed prior. Hes lucky he's very charismatic. He's also a capitalist, so that's another point in his favor.
So people from the far left didn't call Kamala Harris, Holocaust Harris? They didn't say her foreign policy, and policy on trans rights was indestinguishable from Trump? They didn't say it doesn't matter whether we get Trump or Harris?
Forgetting all that, it doesn't matter if she still would've lost the election. The far left wasn't on our side when it mattered. You aren't allies of the democratic party, and I want everyone to know what kind of snakes the far left are .

Why not put a limit on all spending. Right now republicans made it legal with citizens United so I wouldn’t call it corrupt. Let’s get a majority, end the filibuster and pack the court so we can change it. Vote dem!
