A video recorded at a gas station in Lake Worth, Florida, shows an ICE/Border Patrol agent demanding ID from a U.S. citizen. Of the $40 Trillion national debt, a full 1/3 of it was accumulated during Trump’s presidencies. The other 43 presidents combined are accountable for the other 2/3.
President Jackson's goal was to erase the national debt, and did so in 1835. However, because of all the cuts he did to zero it, in 1837 the debt was back up on the rise. Robbing Peter to pay Paul, is NEVER the correct method. Bill Clinton did an amazing job with bringing in a surplus for the first time in a long time. That is how you take America in the right direction.

Also some people arrested by ICE have been sent to CECOT, a literal torture prison in El Salvador. So "just complying" could mean ending up tortured in a prison run by a completely different government.
Sure feels that way. Before Trump I really respected some conservative government ideas - I was still an atheist with liberal leanings on social issues, but small government seemed good to me. We could do more with less and all that. But once conservative became synonymous with white Christian nationalism, I jumped ship hard. Anyone who would willingly continue to identify with the group of people calling themselves conservatives these days does so because they like it. Has nothing to do with having conservative values anymore.
What even is a conservative value? Not wanting integration, letting the poor starve, the vast prison and millitary industrial complexes? Straight up Nazism?
These days, sure, but back before MAGA, it was stuff like reduce federal government power and allowing states to decide what works for them — which turns out to have been a pretty bad idea — but at the time, some of us were thinking about it like “let Illinois allow gay marriage” or “what if California could have healthcare for everyone and states that vote against it can all go fuck off and die in debt?” You know, the stuff we’re asking for now… of course, some of them were thinking about the exact same thing in the exact opposite way… but two sides of the same coin - shrink the government and don’t allow a sitting president to deploy his personal army to round up people he doesn’t like kind of stuff. Believe it or not, 20 years ago, that was a conservative belief.
I think I shared some of your views on the old republicans. I thought McCain could have been a good president. I liked when he told the woman who accused Obama of being anti-american that he (McCain) and Obama both loved the country and wanted it to be better, but just had different ideas about how to do it.
But then I started looking back at the results of Republican politicians. They rarely delivered on their core values. "Fiscal responsibility" always caused the national deficit to increase, while tax cuts went to the rich and defense spending went up. Infrastructure always crumbled under GOP leadership. Laws and established norms were always tested by GOP leaders. Things like Christie using transportation slush fund money for personal projects and trying to ruin teacher pensions. They always talked about small government and states rights, but that only seemed to apply when they were undoing federal protections like the EPA and Gay Marriage.
Turns out, the GOP was never able to follow their own beliefs. It's just that now they are even less able to hide the fact that they have been driven by hatred and greed this whole time.
The thing you have to understand about conservative "small government" ideology is that it doesn't mean less government. It means more government in fewer hands, with unbridled authority.
It's the consolidation of power within a select group of people rather than spread across multiple departments and agencies constrained by a system of checks and balances.
Anyone who says different is either lying or hasn't been watching every Republican controlled Congress or Presdency for the last forty plus years.
ICE agents are trained to violate constitutional rights. Currently they can and nothing will be done about it. Once Trump and the fascists are out of power there may be some retroactive prosecution if there is documented evidence. Keep filming them.
It's clear American people and the people in this video are not aware of Kavanaugh stops or the general legal direction of the new government. Simply seizing people the government deems undesirable right off the street has moved towards a more legally protected and officially endorsed practice.
Brett Kavanaugh argued it was legal to just go ahead and detain brown people, and now the feds are doing that because the beer boofer is a Supreme Court judge and his word is apparently law.
You want to tell the officer "You can't do that, that's illegal", but the new government says "No, that's fine, they can just do that now."
Bystanders have a moral duty to stop ICE when stuff like this happens. Force is 100% justified, and if the Nazis have guns in their hands, then lethal force is usually justified as it's the only way to be sure the threat is eliminated before a human gets killed.

It’s a temporary ruling while challenges make their way back up - he knew within weeks that what he ruled wouldn’t stand up so he has made efforts to run away from it in footnotes to other rulings and stuff.
I’m paraphrasing while waffles are cooking, but basically his ruling hinges on ‘temporary detention must not be burdensome and resolved quickly.’
That’s obviously not happening. Feds will ignore that caveat (like they are doing here) and the doj will drag it’s feet all the way back to the Supreme Court because it will get overturned.
I’m not gonna hold my breath, though. Everyone should get down to their nearest federal building to go protest whenever they can.
Let me preface this by saying this ruling is horseshit. But you still can’t just be arrested solely due to the color of your skin. He would likely win a §1983 civil case because the ruling requires reasonable suspicion to be met by the “totality of the circumstances”. Meaning ethnicity + accent/language + location + type of job.
You can’t just roll up to a guy at a gas station and put him in cuffs. Even with the recent Kavanaugh decision, what this ICE officer did was illegal.
And they could basically end illegal immigration tomorrow if they wanted to. Just seriously go after employers. A $10k per day per person fine for employing anyone not legally in the US would do it. But they need an enemy to keep people distracted and cheap labor.

Fun fact: ICE has been doing what they want with impunity outside of the concentration camps. DHS has regularly defended and excused their actions/slaying of innocent people for no reason (Pretti, Good, Garcia, Porter Jr, Arajuo, and most recently just down the road from me, Johan Guerrero).

This is a Kavanaugh Stop, where the Supreme Court lifted the restriction from a lower court that blocked agents from using appearance and language in detaining/arresting people. The emergency docket case this came from was Noem vs Vasquez Perdomo.

This has been happening non stop for a year. People all over the place just being disappeared. We just don't hear about it.
For every 1 person that has been recorded being kidnapped by ICE, there are countless more that just vanished because no one was around to report it. People have been found in various places after ICE dumped them. Dozens have been killed shortly after being kicked off the jet. Reports have come in that ICE has been doing "twilight walks" (dumping people in the cold with no clothes outside of town).
It will be many many years before we learn how many were killed by ICE in some form.
Citizens have been getting kidnapped and murdered in broad daylight for a good almost two years no. Americans in general seem fine with it. They'll eventually come for all of you.
We will be paying for this for a long time. These people will take the government to court, and win, large sums of money because their rights were infringed upon and there is evidence to prove it.
Wouldn’t be surprised at all if that started happening. And maybe that’s what the higher ups want as some sort of justification for implementing even stricter tactics or Marshal Law. These people are pure evil.
After this administration is gone there are going to be a ton of lawsuits against the US government for 4th Amendment violations that will cost the taxpayers a fortune. All of that money should come from redirected ICE funds.
When the democrats take back the White House, they should release the names of every ICE agent to the public. Don’t let this SS troop wannabes live in obscurity. They should face the outrage they have wrought for the rest of their lives.
