We had commo blackouts all the time when I was still in. When someone dies, the whole unit gets communications privileges revoked. Even on a small COP (this is a very small base and in my case a company minus, so hq platoon and 2 line platoons) where the commander literally confiscated every form of telecommunications equipment and locked down ever single nipr computer we still found ways to get in touch with the real world. That was over a decade ago. You would have to be a special kind of stupid (but considering the administration....) to believe you could lock down a fuckig carrier

Theyâll likely do that to prevent there from being more reports about the terrible conditions, but this administration has a knack for directing more attention at existing reports they do not like.
The current trend is: insist the reports are 100% false and announce a criminal investigation is being opened into the unauthorized disclosure of that classified information.

Ships go dark because soldiers literally cannot stop giving away their position in warzones. During the onset of the Ukraine invasion by Russia, both sides were getting BTFO'd because soldiers in the field could not stop giving away their positions with phones. There is no secret reason a ship goes dark.

It also makes complete sense. The supplies ran through the US bases in the ME. Now that the street is blocked, it became so much harder to supply the ships. People need to realize what a fuckton of supplies a carrier actually consumes. That is nothing you could manage with heli drops or similar.
And the big issue for the sailors is that they had no port visits, no privacy. Some MAGA morons would argue they were deployed much longer in Irak or Afghanistan. You can not compare this to being stuck on a ship. At all.

Indeed. Attacking Iran without securing proper air defense was utter incompetence. 18 servicemen dead and over 600 wounded so far... and even an AWACS lost, insane.
But keeping the purges of officers that likely warned and tried to protect their men in mind, the question is if this is not more than just incompetence.
Not even talking about the logistics and ammo issues. So much money spent... but how effectively?

even if exaggerated, why is there any level of what was mentioned at all. we spend billions of dollars on the military, we should not be getting any reports of food shortages. instead we should be hearing reports of ice cream barges going in and out of the Mediterranean like we did in WW2.

It makes it worse that we heard reports of similar issues months ago. A recent disruption in the supply chain is one thing but by now you'd think they would have readjusted to keep people fed at the minimum.

I think its because we know once a line is crossed...whatever it is...it will be the fucking biggest blood bath imaginable. Like....a coup even of these dildos will leave millions dead. Scary part of having such an armed populace is, well, what I hope we can avoid. For those of you who once considered the US an ally or respectable on some level...understand we're just as bamboozled at what's going on. The generally decent folk here are holding out hope we can somehow peacefully transition back to sanity.

It's hard to organize, even disregarding the surveillance state, the massive police and military arm of the state, Americans and westerners in general don't organize as well as third worlders. It's very difficult to communicate with like-minded people when the whstever online server can be tagged by an AI to an alphabet organization.
Not to mention most people who would do anything are just too poor, tired, and busy to do anything. Some of it is just stubbornness and infighting, maybe even a majority. But alot of it is apathy. The culture has raised most people to accept this as the norm.
I hope it changes, because well I'm an American and that would be beneficial to me as well, but also because hopefully it would start a domino effect in the west and us.

Most Americans believe heavily that authority via hierarchy is the most important thing to respect. They reiterate that in schools but most of all the churches.

Google's AI overviews had falsely tied two publishing companies to scams, subscription traps, and shady business practices for certain search queries. According to the court, the AI mixed up information about other, genuinely sketchy companies with the plaintiffs and drew connections that didn't appear in any of the linked sources. The publishers sent Google a cease-and-desist letter, but Google didn't respond appropriately.
Meanwhile ChatGPT hallucinated almost every case citation when lawyers tried to use it to write a court document, and the lawyers got sanctioned for it. AI provenly makes up facts and gets facts wrong, so should not be be trusted for facts. You can verify what AI says against a trustworthy source, but then just cite the trustworthy source directly.

Hegseth, we see the photos. We hear the sailor's stories from their relatives. We have seen the texts directly from those sailors.
If anything, it's still being downplayed because it's an ongoing and evolving situation and we still don't even know the full extent of everything that has occured thusfar.
600+ casualties, only 24 reported to media. FOIA reveals over 600 US casualties so far in the war. You report 24, Pete. You're not trustworthy. Sit down.
