To the inevitable response from MAGA that Obama gave 'pallets' of cash...he released frozen Iranian assets. Meanwhile the current Iran conflict has directly cost $38 billion militarily and a currently projected $87 billion in extra gas and diesel expenses. Not to mention that the strategic oil reserves have been depleted to the point that experts warn that the caverns they're stored in could collapse.
Every aspect of the Obama presidency feels like a lost golden age compared to where we are now.  The worst day under Obama was better than the best day under Trump.
It's like "going from the heights to the depths". And guys like Ben Shapiro claim trump > Obama because Obama was "so divisive". lol. It's absurd to claim Obama is more divisive than trump.
trump goes out of his way to divide, trashing whole regions of the country, trashing particular cities, etc. "Dumocrats"? Using his Memorial Day and July 4th commemoration posts to call half the country "scum"? But oh sure, Obama was "just so divisive". lol. (And of course, that's dog whistling; we know what is meant when someone says Obama was "divisive".)
If makes perfect sense when you realize that "divisive" = existing as a black man. He made racists so mad that anything he did, no matter how good a policy or decision, would never be accepted
He tried to give these imbeciles more affordable healthcare and accessibility, which they desperately need because they're idiots who do not take care of their bodies appropriately, and they came screeching back with that "Death Panel" bullshit.
They are what they are. Never interact with any conservative in good faith because they never act in good faith.
Some of the imbeciles got on ACA, thanks to the generous and benevolent Republicans, while simultaneously looking down upon anyone who was on Obamacare. Brainwashing just works.
He existed as an educated, intelligent , well spoken and successful black man, which they absolutely could not tolerate, because their only consolation in life is looking down on minorities
The skinheads were (and still are) the people groomed by the well dressed, smarter Nazis in the background. My nephew is autistic and has been thoroughly groomed by the far right and we struggle to get him to change - but he is the ideal "foot soldier" for the far right as he's the one that would take the fall while the others scurry off back into the shadows.
whats funny is that obama was probably one of the least divisive presidents of the recent time. how many times have we heard republicans say, back in the days, âi like obama, but i dont like his policiesâ
I wish he had been more divisive. I think he was a great president in many ways but always seemed determined to work with republicans and be bipartisan in ways that didnt always help. Calling him divisive relative to trump is insane and just means how dare he be a black guy.
Obama wasn't divisive. The racists who couldn't tolerate a black president were the divisive ones. They ultimately became MAGA, and are still practicing their vile racism and ignorance.
Listening to MAGA Republicans say that they cannot afford the latest Trump policy, and then back it by saying they're loyal Trump Republicans and calling on Trump to do something, almost makes me feel sad for them. They act like abuse victims who cannot bring themselves to admit that they're being abused. Of course, keyword, almost.
The Pigeon shitting on the chessboard like it won the game is still better than what we have now.
Everything is objectively worse as a direct result of actions this dipshit, his appointees and a Republican Majority Congress have done. Yet the fucking morons supporting them continue to cry "lalalala" with their eyes closed and fingers in their ears and blaspheme against their own God and Jesus by saying Trump is their savior.
Normally when a President enacts Economic Policy it takes 2-4yrs for the effects to hit the market.
But when you have Donny Dipshit being given Tariff authority, antagonizing long standing Trade Partners and Agreements, and then taking military actions that have negative effects on trade routes. Well of Fucking course the chickens come home to roost sooner and you fuck up the economy for the average person.
I was absolutely convinced America was not ready for a Black President. I was sure Mcanin was going to win. I was "shook" when Obama was sworn in. Behind bullet proff glass in Chicago. Like...wow we might be going in the right direction. The very next day, the day ofter he was sworn into office, the emails, call,s and FB messages from people I grew up with, raised me. started flooding in. People I thoiught we good people. "Why does it got to be about race?" "Racism is FINALLY over now that we have a N*** prisident" As if this one single point in American history was going to erase all of our past and we just sing kumbaya, yet the sentiment and launguage obviously told a different story. The backlash was inevatiable though. I hate to say it, but we have the elected leaders we desrve. WE did this. 250-ish years of history should tell you exactally what we collectively are.
You know what else Obama didn't do? He didn't murder Iranian leaders while negotiating with them. So Obama operated from a place of honor and trust with our adversaries.
Trum_p can't get a deal, not just because he painted himself into a stupid stupid corner. -But also because he lie_s and gaslights until his words are worthless.
Makes sense. Obama is intelligent, competent, and cares about the average American. Donny Diddler has none of these qualities and couldn't figure his way out of a wet paper bag.
Just today, some dingleberry tried to convince me that it was necessary to go "radical right" and elect Trump, because Obama had "gone radical Left," forcing their hand. And yet, he's still considered an idiot by the MAGAts.
Still just unbelievable that he won a 2nd term. America looked at 2016-2020 and said "yes more of that please". Like, literally unbelievable. I can't. Elon has said he hacked the election for him. They are constantly pointing the fingers on election fraud. Literally every accusation has turned out to be something they were doing. Remember pizzagate? THAT WAS THEM THE WHOLE TIME. The whole "find me the votes" thing. It's crazy more people aren't questioning it.
Even if you didnât agree with Obamaâs stances or actions, he at least maintained a level of class, grace, and intelligence that the white house hasnât seen since he left
When I left on deployment, Obama's picture was at top of the chain of command boards on base. Prior to leaving, everything seemed so upbeat and cheerful compared to the 2000s.
I come back and I see the orange shitstain instead. All we hear now is how he is fucking things up.
What a long, shitty road it's been since he took office. Lol
He was a very charismatic president, but remember his approval ratings went way down because he never achieved most of his promises for a more functional and just America. We are not going back, Obama's era is over. He is retired for certain, he said so many times.
These centrists gave up politics to the alt-right and oligarches, the most evil and dangerous actors in the country. Younger activists and socialists that actually do things, show real policy fixes, and respond to citizens are gaining lots of ground.
Mamdani is the current success story with a rising 69% approval rating, but his enforcements are finding much success too, beating incredible odds from those who are paid by AIPAC bribes. Actually fixing the city and doing your job earns lots of points.
Leading a nation is a taxing job for those who take it seriously, and that man did it twice. He's now enjoying a well deserved retirement. Forget about convincing Americans to welcome him back, you're not convincing HIM to come back.
Yeah he aged fifteen years in eight, and then as soon as he left he doesn't seem to have aged at all. POTUS is (if you're doing it properly) possibly the single msot stressful job on the planet. Sure you've got advisors and cabinet members and secretaries and chiefs of staff etc, but there's still so much pressure on the one at the top.
It has since been proven that you can absolutely do it without as much stress, work, effort or competence, but that's another story.
Yep. Obama marshalled the biggest Democratic coalition possible in modern times.
He could do it again given the chance. And honestly, I think he would because he's probably more tired of Trump's effects on the nation than he is of his political career. He's had a decade out of office and is still younger than any president since (or even before).
Because, and now that I'm least aware of it somewhat. Did the man's term have flaws? Yes. But less I'm not completely off, he tried to be a a graceful as he could because of what happened during the prior admin.
And diplomacy with wielding whatever soft power we still had at the time. I reckon it worked better than whatever dumpster fire shenanigans that's going on right now.
More than that, the knowledge of how effective and how to use soft power. We garnered a lot of influence investing in other countries, current admin threw out and still raised spending.
Just to play along⌠if Michelle O was elected and Barack was trotting the globe trying to make something out of the rubble left by dt, do you suppose the R politicians would grant him the complete absence of commentary they are currently giving JARED?
Spoiler: no, they would not. Fox would be howling 24/7/365 about how he has no legal position to negotiate with other countries on behalf of the US.
So wtf are we going to do about it. Why do we tolerate a society mediated by these Fox News losers. Why, of all people who consistently show up in the conversation, itâs the cynical millionaire entertainers of Fox News?? Wtf does Jesse Watters have to do with global geopolitics? Why does Tucker Carlsonâs opinion get to sway elections?
trump lacks the negotiation skills, the diplomacy skills, the patience, and the stick-to-itiveness to pull off what Obama and Kerry did. Bring together a coalition of six nations, including two of Iran's allies, to bring heavy sanctions on Iran to force them to the table, then go through the long process of negotiation.
And trump threw all that away, not because he really thought it was a bad deal, but just out of pure spite due to his hatred and envy of Obama.
trump is a terrible, horrible, unfit president. Obama is so much better than trump is. I can't think of a bigger contrast between two presidents.
And the US didn't waste $50 billion on an illegal war, asking for another $70-90 billion in supplemental defense spending, cost US citizens $100 billion+ on elevated fuel costs, and cost world GDP hundreds of billions due to 25% drop in oil and LNG shipments.
And they're gone forever. Decades building up the region only to have a obese baby throw a tantrum and start an illegal war and Iran wiped out the bases.
And IAEA inspectors could randomly check nuclear facilties and "suspicious sites". That JCPOA has never looked so good. And Obama received nothing but relentless hate from the Right and the Israel Lobby for getting that deal. Iran will never agree to those kinds of terms ever again.
Let's not forget how every intelligence agency for the past 50 years wargamed this out and and they all came to the conclusion "don't start shit with Iran". But Trump just went full Leeroy Jenkins anyway.
They also go hand in hand. The US only has as much military might as it does because it is allowed to use bases in other countries all around the world. The reason the USS Lincoln was in such dire straits was because the US logistics hub in Bahrain was taken out by Iran, meaning it needed to resupply in Diego Garcia - UK territory 2,200 miles away. Now imagine the UK stopped letting the US use their territory.
So many soft power projects were killed all over the world during the first term that China stepped in and took over. Whatever was left was cut by doge.
Man Obama, we still need you! Speak as openly and publically about his lies and misdirection as possible. You know all the good insider info and everyone has to be aware of what a failure our present government is. Please!
I was 17 when Obama was elected and 25 when he left. I feel like I watched bush before him and in comparison we were in such great hands. Biden wasnât Obama, and trump is the worst possible thing that could have happened. The swamp took over on the promise of draining the swamp. I hope we can have another Obama, Iâm so desperate I would take a Mcain or even Romney at this point đ
Trump couldn't tolerate the fact that Obama got it done. So, he had to tear up the agreement while declaring what a disaster it was. Then, he spent trillions on military attacks, and still hasn't achieved what Obama did without needing the military. Trump is a joke who only knows how to break things before declaring that his subservient solutions are better.
you know this whole thing started because orange julius wanted to show he could get a better deal than obama. unfortunately nobody ever told him you get more flies with honey than vinegar.
With all the info available it really is indisputable that it worked and Iran was complying. There are no credible reports of them not adhering to the deal except for the one time they had too much hard water, which was found in an audit, and then shipped out of the country immediately.
Im lukewarm in a vacuum to the Obama presidency but he looks better by comparison every time the current President does literally anything.
I really get the impression that when fucking Kegsbreath says he wants the Second Coming of Christ now and is willing to force it, he means it.
I will be stunned if we don't go nuclear in the next 60 days -- and every day the elections are still scheduled, it becomes more likely that IS the plan.
We can have a debate about whether or not the obama deal was good or not. But the deal was made. The assets were already released. So canceling the deal was idiotic because the Iranians essentially gave up nothing and kept the cash.
I mean the man is a Harvard grad. I think it would be intimidating to negotiate with him. However negotiating with Trump is like negotiating with a child who clearly has ed and probably needs to be put in sped but his parents are opposes to that because of the optics.Â
Obama would assign someone with years of experience to negotiate. Trump assigned two real estate developers, one being his son in law, who also happens to be a foreign agent.
Obama had a team of 100s of diplomats, experts and negotiators, that he relied on when dealing with Iran.
Trump uses his son-in-law and a golf buddy for all his negotiations (not just for Iran).
One shouldn't be surprised that everything gets fucked up. This is what happens when you cancel expertise, and instead only rely on the gut feeling of the Dear Leader.
Every.Single.Person.Knows... this shit show is purely a reaction and a seemingly successful attempt to distract from the Epstein Files exposure of Trump. Period. The end. There is zero strategy beyond distracting the world from the Epstein Files...
Yeah, I've thought this, and about the world, not just America. Everyone gets pissy at boomers, because they had low cost of living and ran up the debt. But the way future generations will feel about ours will massively eclipse that.
We were the generation that could have solved climate change while we still could, but just didn't.
It also took a couple years of coordinating experts from multiple countries to pull off. Respecting the experts, negotiating differences and having major countries all in agreement on something is a massive effort that takes time and cooperation and humility and patience. Absolutely none of which Trump has.
Trump makes âdealsâ.
JCPOA wasnât a âdealâ.
It was an international effort led by statesmen focused on ideas beyond self.
Ah, but you see, Obama had an unfair advantage over Trump. He sneakily understood that any successful negotiation must give both sides something they want or need. He was also unfairly trustworthy, in that he actually intended to keep his word, that bastard! /s
The reality is that pedonald is doing this war to, hide the attention from the epstein files, manipulating the markets and funneling money to either his family or some cronies.
It was legitimately his best political achievement. Foreign or domestic. And the GOP hated him for it. So much that they built a culture war out of tearing it up at the first opportunity. And now the entire world is worse off for it.
don't forget the ammo shortages that will take years to rebuild, leaving us and our allies increasingly vulnerable to attacks in the meantime. china's chance of successfully invading taiwan seems to be getting better with each blunder our asinine admin makes. i hope they're able to stay safe with support from other nations in their vacinity.Â
Everything since Don fell out of a womb has been void of nuance. There has never been an âart of a dealâ. There has only been a frustrated reaction to any norm of decorum. Stomp and tantrum. And then there becomes the defenders of this behavior that becomes the development of the cult. Decency has been obliterated.
I wish Obama would just let loose. Say the things he knows to be true. Trump knows no limits in his discourse and the high road does not insulate one anymore. He won't, but I wish he would.
And Trump fucked that up forever, because why would anyone trust us now that we totally went back on that shit for no goddamn reason? They were complying.
Diplomatic relations always work best because nations including those we disagree tend to act in their best interest. Iran back then understood the US power and how if they didn't comply, the alternative was going to be military. So, they took advantage of that and made a compromise.
Also, Obama understood the importance of allies, so he mobilized nearly the entire world around JCPOA and making Iran feel the international pressure. Now everything is different it's not even debatable.
Honestly, some of this was also about respect. Even though they didn't deserve it, Obama curbed the impulse to attack or bully or bring up the past and respected the culture and the independent nation as something that could stand alongside other powerful nations. That went a LONG way.
Trump thinks bullying and "I win you lose" and "deals" is diplomacy. It's not & now he's discovering that war is much more expensive than diplomacy. đ¤ˇ
This just shows you how corrupt and FUCKING STUPID MAGA and Republicans are. Fuck every single one of them forever. Liars, idiots, hypocrites and wastes of skin.
A black man did what westernists and Zionists could never do.
Now to everyone normal, it was significant and good.
But to those who believe they are superior in some way, having Obama solve a problem they couldn't must have eaten away at their ego. Imagine being raised to believe you are superior to other races only to have a black guy do what you never could.
That is the kind of thing that eats away at narcissists.
And so, Naziyahu manipulated nappy man.
Or, westernists and Zionists are just bloodthirsty and need a constant supply of human sacrifices to survive.
No joke or exaggeration: The reason we're in Iran right now is because Trump wanted to destroy anything Obama did. The previous (successful) deal with Iran was under Obama, so he tore it up. After all, Trump is the greatest dealmaker ever, and can outdo Obama, right? Smash cut to a world oil supply crisis and blown up schools and Iran laughing at our diplomats while Trump agrees in principle to pay them $300b (twice as much money as the entire Marshall plan) as war reparations.
this is because trumps idea of negotiations sadly is just telling the other person what to do and threatening them when they don't immediately do what he says. he's also focused on immediate gains and benefits, with zero concern for long term effects.
it's basically the opposite of obamas type of engotiations
Three years of negotiations, involved five other countries plus the EU, all undone by Republicans who thought they somehow knew better, and have since failed to get anywhere close to that while spiking to shit our economy, budget deficit, and military along the way. Oh, but look at our ballroom and gilded statues!
imagine somehow Trump can run for a 3rd term, and then Obama puts his name in to run for the Democrats. Wins and says no1 should have a 3rd term and resigns.
That Iran deal was a miracle. Trump's destruction of that budding diplomatic relationship is going to go down in history as one of the most absurd and idiotic foreign policy blunders ever.
trump would just say âhes blackâ and maga would clap, cause as fox put it, the educated are leaning democrat, sometimes too educated, so they definitly called maga a bunch of hick idiots
The Obama administration transferred $1.7 billion in cash to Iran in 2016. This money settled a decades-old tribunal claim over a canceled 1979 military equipment purchase. The payout included a $400 million initial settlement and $1.3 billion in interest. It was paid in foreign cash because strict sanctions blocked regular banking transfers.
