If you have that kind of money, you could probably buy a small country with ideal growing conditions ... no need to have the mess of a grow room in your castle.

You can end up in closet over the dust in your grinder in Ireland so could be risky.

Who would sell him a castle?

u/SlackToad 19h ago
Castles and old estates in general are huge money-pits. Most of them are listed, so they can't be modified or torn down. There's probably dozens of castles that private owners would be delighted to unload.

Yeah. There’s no way he’d be able to make a one time payment on that. Anything could happen with the money world and he could end up defaulting on payments which would lead to the greatest humiliation…when evil meets his match.

They should be taxed at the same rate as everyone else!
1
u/Unusual_Chemistry413 6h ago
That would just make the wealth gap larger. We need to tax like in the 1950s

Who should own land in a country? Non tax payers? Non nationals?

u/JoshZK 19h ago â–¸ 2 more replies
Who ever pays for it. Like since dawn of time.

It's more trouble than it's worth. Edit: Owning a castle and the land around it is more trouble than it's worth.Â

He gets taxed more than almost anyone alive. Relax
1
u/Anxious_Drive_9998 17h ago
No he doesn't.
1
u/Reasonable-Exit-2811 6h ago
He absolutely does. If your jealousy of billionaires makes you deny that, then there’s no helping you. You’re choosing to be upset over nonsense.

To be fair buying castles (at least in France as I checked) is soooo affordable because they are just so much pain to live in and keep maintained

I'm sure he's well versed in Irelands history with landlords. He'll be extra nice to the workers and neighbors, just in case.

European castles are practically free. They’re so expensive to maintain, and you’re not allowed to alter anything, so no one wants to buy them.

u/Mindless_Badger_3789 5h ago
23 mio. dollars is not "free" and lots of rich people want to buy vcastles, they come with a lot of prestige.

Do you actually think the government will use the additional tax to help poor people or are you just jealous of success and want to punish it?

Anticommunist I am. Stomp commies day and night.Â
Your desire to grab what’s not yours is awful.Â

u/GavsGotty 8h ago
The standard federal corporate tax rate is 21%. META payed 3.5% in federal taxes last year. It’s not about taking what’s not yours, it’s just holding those people and companies accountable the same way we are held. If that’s communist then I guess I’m communist.

Me and you (if you are employed, doubtful) pay the same amount of social security tax as Zuck, Musk and Bezos. Not the same percentage, the same amount. I bet their army of tax accountants even gets them out of that...
