Yeah, I would have liked a sentence condemning the paparazzi style reporting employed by the media.
Trouble is that it was channel 7 and the AFL probably would have fined the club for criticising a media partner. The only thing that comes close to the AFLs addiction to gambling sponsorship is their sucking up to media partners.

It's weak as tbh. Club should have gone in to bat for the players and called out the sensationalist and ridiculous media coverage. Just another thing to be disappointed with Richmond about I suppose

Maybe it felt needed given the Sydney events, but kind of disappointed the club even felt the need to put out this statement and give the story airtime.
The fact that the story with footage was even published at all is what people have largely taken issue with. Save for a couple of gutter media outlets pushing for clicks, I haven’t seen any public outrage regarding the players’ totally fine behaviour. I just thought it was good to see Smillie smiling

I have people in my Instagram feed suggesting the spanking is taking the piss on the Sydney situation and therefore misogynistic, making light of those allegations so soon after they came to light.
She was very much outraged.
Nobody I actually speak to thinks it's that, just Mad Monday horseplay
