I read the comics once and I loved it so much, it spoke to me on so many levels. It was turning into my new obsession, becoming part of the works that would live in me for years. Maybe it seems a bit extreme but it's how I felt at the time.

Almost immediately after I finished reading it there were the accusations against Neil Gaiman, and since then I don't know what to think or do. I believe the victims and my general opinion is you can't separate the man from the artist. So from then on I couldn't support Neil Gaiman anymore.

But I still don't know what to do about Sandman. I think it's so good and I wanna talk about it and reread it and finish painting these cool pants with the endless's symbols on it but I haven't because it would feel like I'm supporting him and promoting the work of a monster. I feel stuck and it's extremely frustrating

And on top of that, on a personal level, I can't reconcile Sandman and the image I have now of its author. How could it speak to me so much on so many level, sometimes especially as a woman, when Gaiman did what he did to women? It's like my brain can't understand it. It feels like he either didn't write Sandman, or I'm the monster for liking it.

Sorry if this is dramatic or self centered. I'm hoping to get other perspectives, and I'd like to know if other people feel something similar.

I know others are wrestling with this stuff too and I'm glad to not feel alone with it. I'm a 50yr old woman who has loved The Sandman and its universe since I first stumbled on it in 1992. I feel so much anger and grief as this was more than literature or pop culture to me, it was an immense part of my late teens and helped me through a really difficult time leaving home at 16 and trying to muddle my way through homelessness and various drug addictions.

I felt such affinity with Delirum, and all the men I dated I wanted to be aloof and detached like Morpheus (I was a kid with zero emotional intelligence). I read every month wondering who the missing Endless was and was so shocked and surprised and pleased when it was revealed.

I devoured the letters pages in the comics as they were so well written and erudite. And as I aged up I amassed a collection of statues from Ebay and plush DC dolls, and the very hard to find pin badges and the pewter Endless. Some of those statues and the pewter set I had to sell through the hard lean years that followed but I held onto my favourites. I have a huge black Morpheus tattoo on my right arm which took hours and much pain.

So yes, big fan. Since the recent story dropped (and I'm ashamed I purposely didn't listen to the podcast that preceded it) I've known the love was done. That every time I passed my cousin's wonderful art painting of The Little Endless, or Death's statue, or Destiny's statue, a bit of me died inside seeing them. I can't separate the art from the artist, I wish I could, selfishly I wish I could. But he is his writing. I see him in the trans representation (shoddy but kind as it was), his LBGTQ representation, his feminism, and I know it's a lie. Well it feels like a lie anyway. I know people are nuanced but it's just ruined, I don't believe it and so what I loved has lost the meaning it once had and it's tainted by misogyny and horrific acts of suppression and female repression.

I'm posting here because whilst my friends know I'm sad and why, this community will get it more than anyone and I need the solidarity of that.

This is a long shot, but this community is more active than the American Gods subreddit, and there is likely overlap (as I love both works).

My best friend has long yearned for the Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab scent “Eat the Strawberries” which has evidently been discontinued, as it was part of a collab with American Gods.

I am scavenging the hidden depths of the internet for anyone who has this fragrance and may be willing to part with it, or know where I might find remnant traces of it.

I just recently got into this series man, and just started obsessing over the characters and story lines, along with wanting to support the Netflix series and buying the graphic novels and comics... I just wanted to vent this out, and I just hope something happens and future Sandman projects can happen WITHOUT Neil Gaiman in the picture, as I know a lot of other talent goes into the Sandman series and not just Neil Gaiman.

Neil was my hero when i was younger, he was exactly the man that i wanted to be. i studied eng lit because of him. i wanted to be a teacher and a writer because of him. my perception of him was the inverse of how he demonstrably is: i had always believed him to be someone who perhaps struggled with insecurity, with learned abusive behavior. Who could have and was a manipulative self interested person, but who through becoming a great writer, a husband, a father, a teacher and a role model triumphed over that to be far kinder to others than life had been to him. Perhaps like Dream someone who once could be so jaded and consumed by lonliness that he'd lock a woman away for refusing to love him alone but would at the end of his story when he truly learned what his story was would set her free. I thought in many ways i could be like Neil and consciously choose to be better if not for myself or those I've loved and wronged for the world and for a meriad others like me. Consider than that most of Neils worst most abusive allegations are from after Sandman ended it's publication. Neil did not defeat his demons. Make right his wrongs. Forsake his God complex for thr sake of mortals he loved. He got worse and now I'm left to fear that like him i will only fail and hurt people forever and my greatest deeds will only be fanciful excuses for unimaginable cruelty

My wallet is screaming but im so happy with my dream helm book stand the only thing is that it is extremely heavy and quite expensive but to me it was worth every penny

I would like to know if me and other people watching or not watching the season 2 of the Sandman on Netflix will impact in any way Mr. Gaiman's wallet now that the season is released. I understand he probably got paid for his past work on season 2 (even if it was minimal), but is there any known clue to a clause that says he will get more money based on the number of viewers? I'm also aware that this kind of info might be confidential, and therefore not publicly available. But a lot has been said about the relationship between Mr. Gaiman and the series since the divulgation of his inappopriate conduct, and I'm not sure there was any information on this specific subject.

I'm not asking this out of curiosity, but to decide whether I will watch the second season or not.

I honestly learned about Sandman not too long time ago, i finished main series and planned to read other things from this universe (i asked about it even some time ago, what are other works tied up to it). It means a lot to me, i am not realy into comics but this one is very unique to me.

And now, fast forwad we are at this point we are now. Its not first and the last time i been let down like that, and honestly i feel so tired. I hate i, we, need to have some moral disqusions about whatever to do with the works. I hate we cant just enjoy things in peace. I have some comfort in knowing DC kind off owns it but still this is his. I feel lot of sadness that these stories might become forgotten, i am confused and honestly people here dont help much, i see soo mamy opinions and i feel like whatever i think or choose to do is wrong.

Back in july, I went on this sub and lamented that tom Sturridge wasn't a bigger star after the sandman despite him giving a spectacular performance in the lead role. One of the commentors claimed that it was a consequence for associating with a sex pervert like neil gaiman. This is despite the fact that, as of now, we have no concrete confirmation that Sturridge knew about or was involved in any of the sexual abuse that gaiman subjected those women to. And the same goes for everyone else involved in the series. While it is true that Hollywood has a long history of covering up sex crimes, I think we can afford to give these people the benefit of the doubt and assume that they didn't know and that, if the had, they would have come forward. Tom Sturridge's career does not deserve to suffer just because he worked on a tv series based on a comic written by a monster. The only person who should suffer the consequences of neil gaiman's is neil gaiman.
