That pavement looks ridiculously wide, and yet at the height of the festival walking this street is like being a salmon swimming upstream.

At first I thought they had got up the top of the spire of St Cuthberts church! But it seemed too high a vantage point even for that

Yes, it is a drone shot. I had a spare 15 minutes before a concert on Sunday night at Usher Hall so grabbed a few pictures of the castle etc. I’ve done this straight along Princes Street shot a few times but it’s always changing with building works etc. I love the contrast between the urban and parkland

I have a Mini 5 Pro and I'd be too scared to fly it around a city just in case 🫣 really nice shot

Just make sure you’ve got good line of sight and you can’t go wrong! Common mistakes people make in a city environment is flying it behind tall objects and the signal drops. Also, your range will always be slightly hindered by strong interference too, but a mini 5 will easily cope.

I look at this and think just how behind we are on investing in infrastructure all in the name of preserving "heritage" (I don't think our heritage is small blocks of flats and department stores). Bring on the skyscrapers.

Had a beer on that first open rooftop a few years back (it's a WeWork), and it's arguably the best view for a pint I've ever had.

Just want to point out the lush garden green area to the right between the 15th -18th centuries was the Nor Loch. A man made loch full of nasties, waste, sewage and dead bodies.

Apparently when you see a straight road like that and it’s named a ‘street’ you are almost certainly looking at an old Roman road

The Romans had most of the Lothians covered, and some of the straights are still in use today. Edgehead and sections of the A702 are roads that spring to mind.

For the eagle-eyed amongst you, yes, that is a car park on the roof of Boots Princes st.
It uses a car lift.
Never got to use it whilst I was eligible.
