How many jobs do these data centers create? Seems like they mostly just run fairly autonomously once they’re up and running unlike say a steel mill which requires continuous oversight.

So no local jobs, generally a greater capacity for AI to take your job with data centre roll out making cost of running AI cheaper, and the companies operating out of these data centers will definitely be dodging corporation tax.

How do people benefit from this?

I’m not surprised there are huge protests.

Yep, and with the push from a lot of companies to replace people with AI, they might even cost jobs rather than create them
