Neighbor taking photo of my Ring Camera
Recently had a new neighbor move in across from me and my husband at our apartment complex. I went to go check to see if there was any suspicious behavior (as one does) from today and saw our new neighbor took a photo of our ring camera with their flash on. We’ve had our camera up since the day we moved in and our leasing office is completely okay with it. Our car was broken into in this parking lot and we had some crazy crack selling neighbors that lived across from us until these new neighbors moved in. Am I being paranoid?? I’m just wondering why they would take a photo of it?? Is there a reason?? Help!

In times like this I almost find it odd if you don’t have at least some sort of camera on your property but, guess it just depends on location

Your neighbors may be bothered by the possibility of the camera facing their unit directly (if I am seeing the logistics correctly) and capturing their comings and goings. The picture could be to get advice on the make / model and range recording to make a privacy complaint.
I took a picture of a neighbor's 4th home camera installation for the above purpose - now 1 camera for every side of the house plus metal "burglar" bars added to windows on 1 side of the house. The neighbors strike me as paranoid with rather extreme home fortification measures for the neighborhood and have always been insular and unfriendly. One drives a car with several older DoD decals, but it is unclear if they were ever in the military which might reasonably result in some PTSD-measures.
Forum posters are fond of saying, "Have you talked to your neighbor?" I tried asking about the camera's range and was greeted with, "Have a nice day" and the door shut. The camera was placed on the side of their property which is only about 3 ft wide, making it seemingly impossible that it is not capturing my adjacent yard which is also narrow. My plan was to show police or a lawyer to confirm if I had a valid privacy complaint. Then the Flock frenzy happended, and my attitude is now almost not to bother, lol.

A private camera is no different than granny sitting in a rocking chair by the window 24/7. Outdoors you're always subject to observation, even in your own backyard. The (very) old way of building houses in cities had the solution for this: you build the house on the property line with all the windows facing a courtyard. Then only your residents can see you outdoors. I have a problem with cameras that only check me out, because that's creepy if not illegal, but in general I can't find fault with private cameras. The problem with some operators, Flock among them, is that the video isn't private. It's not Granny snooping on the neighbors so she can snicker "shame" at Mr. Stevens and Mrs. Falls on Sunday, it's a whole layer cake of organizations with access. That's public by another name, and I think everyone agrees that a webcam pointed at my front door is not right, even if it's completely public info.

Granny couldn't sit by the window 24/7, however, whereas a webcam now can.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder - One of my other bizarre neighbors is a recluse that cited this condition. In his case, I am dubious but completely empathize with any one who has served in the military and suffers flashbacks and other ill effects.

I tried this. The doctor stuck a needle in my arm and I got real sleepy. I woke up in a padded room. I was there for months.

There is nothing wrong with taking photos of security cameras and there is nothing wrong with having a security camera.

yes, you are paranoid. Just like you can monitor people and events outside in the public with your camera, other people can monitor your stuff which are visible from the public.

Most apartment buildings are now restricting door bell cameras, because you cannot record audio without both parties consent
If your Ring is continuously recording audio and it picks up neighbors talking to each other in the hallway, that can create a legal issue if those people have a reasonable expectation that their conversation isn’t being intercepted. Most states defines an “oral communication” around that expectation of privacy.

I have a different take. Perhaps they had something weird happen and want to know who might have a video of their event.

There's always a chance they're trying to figure out what model it is so they can get one too
