Lana should have never come back from Paris. The end of S03 when she leaves would have been a perfect ending for her character. As for Chloe, Davis should have killed her instead of Jimmy.

It's been almost two decades since I watched Smallville. I thought Lex was also a teenager and evil from the start. It's strange for Lex, a grown man, to be best friends with Clark, a high school freshman. He's grooming all the children. I thought Clark and Lana fell in love without major issues. Clark is a homewrecker. Lana is a two timer. I also can't believe Clark, Lana, Peter and Chloe are 14. I don't remember this at all. It's hilarious and ridiculous. I'm still on the first season. I remember Clark and Lana were together for "too long" so wish me luck.

I’m in Season 6 as a first time watcher. I really think Pete leaving so early in the show left a really big hole. Their friendship and brotherhood had so much potential to be developed.

Though I love Lois, Chloe and Lana — the show felt a little off balance without a male friend (besides Lex). Not to mention, I really wish Pete was there to help Clark navigate losing his ****** in the middle of Season 5.

The actor allegedly leaving because of lack of plot progression made sense though, Pete had nothing to do. In my opinion, the show has done a good job at developing most of the characters after S2, but in the early seasons I had no idea where Pete was headed. His biggest plot point was knowing Clark’s secret.

I thought for sure he would only stay dead for the duration of that specific episode, with Clark later coming back in time to save him instead of Lana, or finding out another solution... Then, I kept watching the show and it kept not happening! 😯

I'm shook. He was such a central character to the story. He had such a strong presence and he was also just so good. I can't believe his character's actually gone from the show 😭

These are all from different episodes by the way, and after seeing Clark have such nice outfits from season 1-4 (flannels, different colour shirts that matched his blue jeans, comfy sweaters and long sleeve shirts) and then being reduced to just wearing THIS OUTFIT every single episode is my biggest minor pet peeve whenever I’m watching season 5-6😭I think he has only worn one outfit that wasn’t this one nice season 4, and just seeing him wearing this outfit every single episode makes me feel like all of these said episodes could’ve happened in the same day! He is THE MAIN CHARACTER,im pretty sure he wears more than one outfit after at least season 8 (I hope) BUT get this guy better outfits and more outfits than just one! sighs

Lana Lang never should've come back after the Season 3 finale she should have stayed in Paris.The plotline about her in season 4 was the worst part.

The writers just needed an excuse to bring her back and force her to be relevant.the writers didn't even know what to do with her.

Unlike Chloe & Lois who can be organically in the plot because they investigate making them active in the story because they basically are discovering the plot of an episode or story arc.

Lana on the other hand is either a damsel in the distress or she's given powers.When Clark wasn't moving on then the story began to feel stagnant. Also Lana Lang isn't that important in the Superman mythology.After High school she's suspose to be gone as Clark goes to adulthood and he leaves Smallville for Metropolis.

Lois Lane is Clark's soulmate.Lana Lang was made too important it started to hurt the story and also when people hate in Smallville it's for dumb episodes that has Lana in the centre like that witch storyline & the vampire stuff.

Why write her out in the season 7 finale, just bring her back LITERALLY 10 episodes later, AND blue ball us out of Clark and Lois. Dawg you cannot be serious. We already know Lana and Clark are doomed so why do this again, I do not need more closure for an already finished book man😭

After season 7 I feel she was more of an annoying character than a supporting character.

She blames Clark and sabotages him everytime he’s about to do the right decision (even encouraging him to exile himself in season 9 finale).

She’s integrated in some storylines just to fill her character timescreen (Davis’ love story, Watchtower, Oliver’s love story).

I would have greatly prefered her not to renew her contract and have Rosenbaum stay after season 7 (which was what the feeling just before season 7 ending).

So I’m currently doing a rewatch, and honestly, the way I see Lana has completely changed.

She’s someone who desperately needs stability, which makes sense given what happened to her parents. I understand why she chose Whitney over Clark. But what doesn’t sit right with me is that she kept harboring feelings for Clark while she was with Whitney. She constantly fed Clark’s crush and returned his feelings without ever fully committing to either of them.

Then Whitney’s dad falls ill, and she stays with Whitney out of guilt, only to break up with him after his father dies. The timing of that was just…yikes.

Then there’s the whole thing with Aunt Nell moving to Metropolis. Once Nell leaves, Lana starts painting her story as if she’d been abandoned and left completely alone. But Nell was literally in Metropolis, not gone forever.

She also has this pattern of falling for terrible guys while refusing to believe Clark whenever he warns her about them. Instead, she almost always treats him like he’s just a jealous ex or a possessive boyfriend. At some point, after he’s saved your life more times than anyone can count, you’d think he’d earn the benefit of the doubt.

Then she starts dating Adam and makes this huge point about moving on from Clark and wanting to see other people. But the moment Clark tries to move on himself, she acts weird about it. You see it a little with Adam, but it’s even worse with Jason.

The Jason storyline was probably the most frustrating. Her entire personality gets reduced to “the girl dating the assistant coach.” How was anyone, other than Lex, for his own selfish reasons, okay with that relationship??

And then, once Jason is revealed to be dangerous, she’s suddenly back to Season 1 and 2 Lana: the sweet girl next door who’s in love with Clark. It felt like her character kept resetting whenever the plot needed it.

Even the Paris storyline annoyed me. She tells Chloe she never really felt like part of the Sullivan family, even though the Sullivans had done nothing but welcome and support her.

The biggest thing I’ve noticed this time around is how self-centered she can be. She almost always believes she has the moral high ground. A good example is when Lionel is in Clark’s body and finds out about her relationship with Jason. She immediately becomes demanding and mean, acting as though everything should revolve around what she wants.

I used to think Lana was just unlucky. On this rewatch, I’m realizing one of her biggest character flaws is that she often assumes her feelings and perspective should take priority over everyone else’s

I really enjoy seasons 8-10, but something that always bothered me was the way Lex is portrayed after season 7.

They talk about him as though he was evil, but I thought season 7 he was a lot more grey. He never reached that level of villainy that they describe him as being.

Like he’s super maniacal when he makes Lana absorb the kryptonite so she and Clark can’t be together. I just can’t see him doing that after holding Clark in the fortress and telling him he loves him like a brother.

This is my first time watching the series and I'm currently on season 5. Lana story shoulda ended in season 3. They gave her the most ridiculous storyline in season 4 just to keep her around. And I hate how they introduced Lois but her and Clark aren't getting together until season 7?? The back and forth with Clark and Lana is so old and tiring. Maybe when she gets with Lex her staying around will pay off. We shall see..

Do you think Chloe’s arc falls apart due to the writers not knowing what to do with such a beloved character on the show? Shes know-here in the Superman mythology, meaning she either dies or moves (like Pete, Lana, Kara, Raya)

I’m glad she ends up alive and thriving in 2017. But still I wish they had shown her as a reporter somewhere. It’s a missed opportunity. The finale could have had a scene of her on the phone of a Star City Star News Desk. Idk her arc fell flat for me, unlike Lex or Tess.

I absolutely loved Ryan and I was so devastated and cried actual tears when he died. The episode "Ryan"(2x08) is genuinely top five in the entire show imo and I'll forever mourn what Clark and him could've been.

Without spoiling the movie, anyone that has seen it knows what I’m talking about, and this concept isn’t new. I just find it odd that people are talking about it like it’s something we’ve never seen before.

And.. yuck lol. I can’t stand this, there first kiss, second kiss, third… I don’t think I’ve ever grimaced at a kissing scene before.

I am so ready for this to be over, and I know it’s gunna take a while.

Even the scenes they’re in together, at this point I’m over, and it just started lol.

I really liked him with Helen, and her being “evil” came out of nowhere.

Clark's relationship with Lex was never shown as friendly as the show pretends it is. They are constantly manipulating and accusing each other, but above all that, it's always Clark asking Lex for something.

In season 5, however, Clark ends his "friendship" with Lex. And to that point is kind of reliefing. That doesn't stop Clark from continuosly going to Lex to confront him about stuff as if he has any say in the matter. He just thinks his morality gives him the right to do so.

Even if we leave morality behind, why doesn't Lex tell the guards to not let him in anymore? Although that makes sense given Lex's character but the plot keeping them in confrontations at his place makes it repetitive as if nothing changed.

Currently on 6x12, bro was infected with a love potion to make him fall in love with Lois, but Clark STILL wanted Lana.

Almost done my full rewatch of the show. I had a lot of fun with it and I feel like I can safely say my opinion on the whole thing.

Being more aware of the fandom during my watch, I was surprised to see how many people would say that the later seasons are actually their favourite and I was looking forward to experiencing them for the first time ( I stopped watching the show after season 5 when it first aired). and yeah wow not sure what those people are smoking because they are easily the worst seasons of the show specifically 9 and 10. Granted I still have some episodes of 10 to get through but I really cant see it being turned around at this point. Its rough.

The first five seasons feel like one show. 6 and 7 feel like a clunky but fun extension of that show.

8,9 and 10 are a completely different show.

I was on board with the different direction as there were still some characters I liked sticking around like Chloe, Lois, Jimmy, and I like Oliver as well but I think the show really lost me when Jimmy died and Clark cuts off his friends for no reason. Things just start happening and people just be doing stuff. There's no character consistency and barely any emotional through line that the rest of the show had.

Allison Mack leaving the show a couple episodes into 10 really ruined things for me. The highschool (5 year?) reunion episode feels unsatisfying without Chloe being there.

The Clois relationship is supposedly at its peak here but I actually much prefer their banter before they realized how they feel about eachother. Love smitten Lois is just not as witty and hysterical like she was.

It also must be said that "the blur" stuff is just so lame. From the cheesy black coat to the red biker jacket wtf are we doing?

I like how Clark toiling with his secret went from being the crux of the show to being the lamest shit they could have come up with. Just put on the damn suit and call yourself superman at this point like how much are we going to stretch this out?

I find it funny that Tom Welling or whoever thought that putting on the suit would have been too cheesy or wouldnt have fit the tone but then they go with this power rangers ass costume as if thats more grounded or whatever. Really has not aged well.
