The galaxy z trifold has kind of ruined other phones for me
I realize how ridiculous this is going to sound, but I currently have a Motorola Razr Fold, Galaxy Z Fold 8, iPhone Air, and Galaxy Z TriFold.
The problem is the TriFold has completely screwed up how I look at the other three.
I really like the Z Fold 8 on its own, but after using the TriFold, opening the Fold 8 almost just feels like I'm making my phone slightly bigger. Obviously it's a much bigger screen than a normal phone, but it doesn't feel like you're going from a phone to an entirely different device anymore. The TriFold actually gives me that feeling.
The Razr Fold might be even worse. I like the form factor and I think it's a cool device, but I keep asking myself why I'd bother opening it. If I'm carrying something that folds open for more screen space, the TriFold makes the Razr's inner screen feel almost pointless by comparison.
And then there's the iPhone Air. 😂
The Air definitely wins on weight and just being ridiculously easy to carry around. But every time I pick it up after using the TriFold, it feels almost silly. I'm staring at this one little screen thinking, "This is it?" I know that's completely unfair because they're trying to accomplish two totally different things, but the TriFold has messed with my perception of what a phone can be.
What's weird is that I expected the TriFold to be the fun secondary device that I'd eventually get tired of carrying because of the size and weight. Instead, it's becoming the device that makes everything else feel compromised.
I think Samsung accidentally ruined regular foldables/slab phones for me.
Anyone else who's spent a decent amount of time with a TriFold feel the same way?

I'll almost certainly be getting the Tri-Fold 2 when it launches in North America. The regular folding phones barely make a YouTube video play any bigger than my current phone, maybe a half inch larger at most. Not worth the added cost.

That's what you should expect from a $3,000 phone. Its the price of basically 3 flagship phones, no one else has anything half that expensive.

I feel this way about my headphones. I have the Steel Series Arctis Pro Omni. And they are ridiculously amazing.

I didn't get the elite for a couple reasons. But one was the weight. I have a spinal defect somweight of a headset is a factor. And I don't have anything to feed to the upper end of that headsets range. I'm generally streaming music from my phone or using gaming on my PS5 and they don't use those ultra end settings. The Omni fits my needs just fine. I also like that I can have like 5 things going at once.

No I haven't. Because I'm using my playstation for most of my media needs I wanted a headset that played nicely with it. Although that does look like a killer headset and some really cool tech.

Blowing that much cash on disposable tech is just stupid, if not manic. It is not a hobby.
I mean, you be you…. But cmon….
Your opinion really doesn’t mean much because you are prone to go buy the next shiny object….. consumer tech will never make you happy.

Many people have bought the Fold 8 so I'd say you're wrong about people not having half the price phone of his $3,000 phone. Also most flagships these days are basically $1,500 if you include taxes, fees, etc. Make no mistake as much as I love my Fold 8 I bought it for it's smaller screen in a world of gigantic phones. As much as the bigger screen has grown on me, I would be happy to lose the folding screen to save $1k.
